People Trust The NSA More Than Google

I'm looking for the fine print that says "this study sponsored in part by the NSA."

Yet the results are rather consistent with a Washington Post-Pew Research Center poll of last year. It revealed that the majority of Americans are perfectly accepting of the NSA tracking their phone records. In that survey, 45 percent even said they thought the NSA's intrusions should go further.

whoa there...

Who the hell did they ask... I don't place much trust in google... but I place ZERO trust in the NSA.

Google just wants to sell me things. The NSA? The f if I know what they really want. F them.

I trust them about the same amount. They both gather the info for economical and political gain.

Hmmm... there is a razors breadth of difference there. It's like asking whether I'd prefer getting kicked in the jimmy or in the sack. Can't I just say no to both?

Exactly, its all relative.

Whats next? People voting Hitler less evil than Stalin? As if that means Hitler was a good guy, or people trust the NSA.

People who participate in polls are idiot douchebags.
I either hang up or lie.

One recent political call I was asked on a scale of one to ten how sure was I that I would vote, I said "11". Oddly enough she didn't flinch when I said that. Then she asked me why I said 11 and I said because of Spinal Tap. She wished me a good day and I said, "rock on".

Well, Google and Apple just want to sell me crap.
All the time.
To the point of annoyance.

The NSA, FBI, CIA and Homeland Security don't have to spy on me if they want me gone, they'll just dig until they find anything while trying to discredit me, then plant something if they can't.

I don't trust anyone.

The only thing I'm really surprised about is that Google and the NSA were so close to one another. Google is far, far more invasive and pervasive across not only the web, but also in your pants and purse if you're carrying one of their revolting phone devices. They can easily locate you and basically monitor the state of your mind based on what you're searching, what you're reading, what apps you're using, and where you're located on a 24x7 basis. The NSA is at least regulated pretty well and is acting in the interests of all citizens. Google is acting in the interest of adding investment value without proper oversight which makes them a whole lotsa bunch more likely to abuse, cheat, lie, and misuse their far-reaching technologies that dumb morons insist on using every single waking moment of the day.

I trust neither, but if I had to choose which one I'd like to see gone, it would be the NSA. Google is really only interested in making money off of you. They aren't going to ruin your life. The NSA and other agencies can. Granted, the chance of you being wrongly accused and thrown in jail over NSA spying is practically nil, but it is possible. I'm more concerned over local police and their abuses than I am Google or the NSA. In both cases I am just one guy out of hundreds of millions. But with the police, you are one out of thousands, and you will run across cops regularly. The chances of my house being raided by the police due to shitty police work are orders of magnitude higher than me ever having any contact with the NSA or any other federal agency.

The difference being that Google isn't mining your info to gather evidence for prosecution, at least not yet anyway.

At least Google tells you they are taking and using your information.

NSA is just taking it. Using it? Possibly.

I put more trust into Google. At least I know they are taking and using my shit and selling it to the highest bidder.

I can see the mentality behind this. NSA is running under the banner of "We're protecting you" while Google is "We'll provide you service."

Of course, NSA is probably lying. Though I'm sure (sorta) there are one or some in it that aren't abusing their power. Google is out to make money, after all. It's harder to view them in a good light when you just think of the surface, which people tend to do.

I don't trust either of them, but they are here, and pretty in grained into most's, mine included, lives.

really i don't believe there is much difference in the two companies or places. both collect information, both are trying to protect that information and use it for their purpose.

Meh, the NSA isn't in the business of pursuing litigation or pressing criminal charges. Their job is keeping tabs on non-US citizens doing yucky stuff. Most people misunderstand their mission and those that buy off on it are just being guided around by their horsey harnesses held by news media outlets or charismatic home-grown extremists like the Koch brothers. Also, a lot of people tell themselves Google is benign because they started using Google products and services before a lot of the nasty stuff Google is doing started coming to light. People who were cheering for the Google underdog haven't gotten out of that mindset yet and don't want to admit to themselves that the company they liked hasn't ever lived up to the angelic-chorusy vision of it they had before. So yeah, misunderstanding the NSA's mission and being stubbornly entrenched in prior Google worship combined with insecurity about admitting to being duped is prolly what keeps the NSA to Google gap so small.

It is possible to turn off your Google search history, along with Wifi, and GPS on your phone. I haven't yet found the NSA control panel option to turn off their illegal surveillance...

Duh...

NSA is big government Google is big business. Big business is bad don't you know.

I don't trust google cause they took my earnings and banned from adsense cause someone was clicking my ads too much >.<

Cell tower triangulation is fairly accurate enough to find you in a search, also do you really think turning off locally stored cookies stops google from collecting info on demographics of who searches for what on their own search engine?

I don't think google or nsa are a big threat to me, do i like what they do? No, but I have more important things to focus on, like preparing for the zombie attacks.

Which doesn't prevent the phone from logging app activity, hide call and text logs, obscure photos, or much of anything else that's already given automatic permissions you never really know about or get to consent to because pre-loaded apps don't display the access they have or offer the option to not install because they're bundled with the phone's OS. Nor does it prevent the correlation and association of every site you visit with Google's browsers or every site with Google Ad Services-based ads from keeping track of activity.

On the other hand, the NSA has better things to do than data mine your prawns or find out who you're cheating with outside of your current relationship by analyzing your e-mail in the account you created when you got your phone setup the first time.

When Google uses parallel construction with the FBI to place false murder charges on me, only to drop them a year after I've been rotting in prison waiting for a trial, broke and unemployed, my fear of them will be on par with NSA.

Google is just a commercial entity, but how do you get rid of the NSA? No matter who you vote for the NSA stays. Where is The People's power here?

Let's see, just about every federal agency has been shown time and again to have abused and misuseud their power, but we are supposed to believe that the NSA would never do such a thing?

Yeah and the IRS would never specifically target right wing groups, the CIA would never test drugs on unsuspecting citizens, the GSA would never spend a large amount of tax dollars on parties and gifts for their staff, and an FBI HRT sniper would never gun down a woman holding a baby who wasn't a threat. Just as the US would never infect unususpecting Guatemalan's with syphillis so it could test antibiotics on them, nor would we, as a country, every allow African American's with syphillis to go untreated so we could following the effects of the infection.

By the way, I will point out that the Tuskegee syphilis experiment continueud until 1972 and was only shutdown after details were leaked to the press.

Hi, reality here with a friendly note that the list of things you're complaining about don't involve the NSA. Besides that, what makes any of those things somehow worse than what Google is doing or (even if they are worse in your world) why does it make Google's continued activity somehow okay? That's like saying that drinking bleach is just fine because it's not as fast at making you sick as drinking Red Bull.

Hi,

Both are equally bad. It's like asking me do I want to be shot in the heart or the face, Sure, I get an open casket with one, but, I WAS STILL SHOT AND KILLED!

The End'

People have more trust in the one that can conduct illegal surveillance, confiscate assets, prosecute, incarcerate and even kill them than the one that runs the software on their phones.

Conclusion: People are stupid.

The NSA IS probably Google..
They are both the same so I trust and hate both equally.

Even if they are separate they sleep together enough that they both stink.

Yea, except the NSA doesn't do any of that outside of the potential "illegal surveillance"...which isn't really illegal in the limited scope it's applied under. Morally suspect? Sure, Ill accept that. Sorry guys, but the NSA doesn't give two shits about you unless you are a terrorist shithead.

You watch too much Fox News.

I swear to god we're heading towards becoming that movie V for Vendetta.
All the government needs is a few more school shootings to justify taking all of our guns away and hello we're completely screwed!

Oh, this report has just got to be bullshit. No way are people comfortable being tracked by the Federal Government. No way!
