Looks to use the same light matte coating as the U2414H, "frameless" bezel (with an 8mm inner bezel, 2mm thicker than the U2414H), 8-bit AH-IPS panel, and the same set of ports and DP 1.2 chaining options from the U2414H. The product manual (link below) lists "Analogue backlight dimming control for flicker free display" as a product feature (page 7), which I'm assuming means the same PWM-free, DC type of backlight dimming in the U2414H.

I think there is one mistake. dell would never make a semi glossy screen. the u2414h has the same hard ag coating as the U2713HM and if this one follows that principle, we can kiss our hopes of a beautiful screen from dell good bye.
 
Idunno, all the U2414H screens I've seen have had a very light matte coating. It may not be "semi glossy" like some of the korean IPS screens, but if the U2715H's coating matches the overall quality I've seen of the U2414H, I think it'll be really nice.
 
Yeah, I don't think Dell has made (edit: introduced/launched, I should say) a hard AG display since 2011 (I'm still running a U2711 from 2010), and the 2012-launched U2713HM is absolutely semi-gloss. I'm glad to see they've finally launched a replacement, as I think Dell's 2012 and 2013 displays will be remembered as their monitor dark period given the rampant--and painfully undefeatable--overshoot at a time where seemingly every other manufacturer offered multiple overdrive settings. It didn't personally bother me too much, but I might've been blinded by a minor case of Stockholm Syndrome (or at least major sensory adaption) from using my U2711 exclusively for several years.

The U2715H could be a real winner if it employs both the U2414H's vastly improved overdrive settings as well as its very low input lag (the U2713HM and especially my U2711 has noticeable lag). Throw in thin bezels, DP daisy-chaining, Dell's aggressive pricing if you watch sales, and their awesome warranty (they painlessly cross-shipped me a new pixel-perfect monitor when my first one had a single stuck red pixel), and I might upgrade myself.

Do you guys even know what 3H means? Dells new glossy monitors are 3H. Hardness has nothing to do with matteness. The new one should be 3H semi gloss just like the last one.
 
Hardness has kind of become a misnomer for describing anti-glare filters, and I guess I've reluctantly adopted it too, as whenever I hear someone complain about a "hard" AG filter it's also described as heavy, grainy, or even sparkly. I've never seen anything other than 3H on panel info, so I never assumed it had anything to do with the matteness. I'll make a better distinction between the two terms, I just wanted to use consistent verbiage in response to falkonIndian's complaints of "hard ag coating" on what are actually pleasingly semi-glossy U2414H and U2713HM (I assume, therefore, no one would take issue with a 3H surface).
 
The 1080p AH-IPS panels do not use semi-glossy coatings, only a few 24" 1200p and all of the new matte 27+30" 1440p+ monitors do. The rest of the non-glossy and glass IPS still use a grainy matte coating which is only slightly less grainy than LG's older coating.

Wait, so you're saying the Dell S-series (glass-coated 1080p AH-IPS) have an anti-glare filter underneath the glass? Or am I misunderstanding and you're saying the rest of the non-glossy and non-glass IPS use a grainy matte coating? I hope I'm misunderstanding, as that configuration sounds incredibly counter-intuitive.

lol okay sorry to make you repeat yourself. I read that as there being a non-glossy IPS line (like the P-series) as well as a glass IPS line (like the S-series), and not a glossy-and-glass line being one and the same. Apologies, but at least we're all set on AG filters now, I feel! I'll be honest, the U2715H sounds nice and all, but it seems old hat when I think about just four months from now with 144Hz 1440p (the AUO M270DAN02.3 being produced now) FreeSync monitors with a 20nm R9 380X. Of course there's always something around the corner, but I feel like the next six months or so will be one of the most exciting times in a generally stagnant display world.
 
Dell rep tells me that their monitor product roadmap lists the U2715H as "coming soon" but no date is given.

Chomping at the bit to see this screen in person. If it winds up just being a bigger, higher resolution U2414H, I might end up buying two. :)

Unless this sells for around 450$ US, I don't see any reason to consider it, especially since AOC sells glow free Q2770QPU's and it, along with the BenQ BL2710PT have nice matte grey bezels. I will be shocked if it has less than a frame of input lag.

Funny, the reason I'll purchase the U2715H is because I love the thin bezels. There is more to liking a display than just perceived black levels. The thin bezel is a plus to me, and I've been patiently waiting for Dell to release a 27 1440p with thin bezels. (I just sold a U2414H and didn't have any complaints except backlight bleed. I'm currently using a S2340M and love it.) I even love glossy displays, which I know you don't like because of perceived black levels. Strange though, I've always found the glossy displays to have a better perceived black level in a room with a lot of lights.
 
I've been using U2414Hs pretty extensively at work, and a VX2770Smh-LED at home, and both have a super-thin "frameless" bezel. The U2414H's is noticeably thinner than the one on the VX2770Smh-LED I have at home (The Dell's is 6mm; the Viewsonic's is 1cm), though.

I agree about how it can affect perceived black levels - I notice it on this very forum on my home monitor, for instance, though it doesn't bother me much - but if they have the 6mm thin bezel around the edge of this one (which may not be possible, I realize, due to the size of the screen, but I can't find mention of the bezel on any of the articles posted so far, or Dell's website) it may not seem quite as exaggerated. That's been my experience with the U2414H, at least.

Of course, but this won't offer anything aside from lighter perceived black levels and probably some Dell exclusive issues their monitors usually have vs other 1440p monitors. Manufacturers are already cutting costs since frame-less casings are made with less materials, one would think they could at least make the inner black bezel dark grey.

Slightly? Having previously owned a U2711, and now a U2713, the differences in the coatings are pretty significant. A white screen under the old coating looked like sand was thrown on it. Not so with the new coating.
 

Ahaha, thank you for that. I figured the info had to be somewhere. Going to add this to the main post.

8mm is better than 10mm, but not quite as nice as 6mm. I'm curious to see how this will look in person.

Also updated the main post with a link to the manual and some specifications listed in it, the manual says it has "flicker free" backlight dimming control, so I'm guessing that means the same DC system as the U2414H and that it isn't using PWM.

will this be an upgrade from my u2713hm? is the only difference the bezels? I will admit it looks really nice.
 
Aside from the obvious physical differences - design and inputs - we don't really know. If it's available on one Dell website maybe we'll start seeing reviews soon.

I'm hoping they took the qualities that made the U2414H so nice and put them in this one.

Are the bezels on this as thin as on the U2414H? We just deployed a bunch of U2414Hs at work and they do look great. I would trade my U2713HM as well for two of these U2715Hs.

The bezels are 8mm on the U2715H compared to 6mm on the U2414H.

Price is the same SRP as the U2713HM, I believe... but that one is always on sale somehwere.

I wouldn't be surprised to see this model selling for below $600 regularly.
 
I just ordered one of these. Using the 20% + 10% off coupons linked on Bensbargains.net, the cost was $490.99. Delivery is scheduled for 11/12/2014.

I had to ask Dell to apply the 20% off code via chat since the U2715H is still considered a pre-order item in their system, and the coupon doesn't work on pre-order items.
