Samsung 31.5" 4K monitor model UD970 support DVI, HDMI 2.0, Display Port

It looks like the price is going to be $1,999 so that means anyone who isn't sensitive about brand or internal power bricks may consider the Asus if its really $1,750 and actually supports HDMI 2.0 as well.

the unit supports DUal Link DVI, does that mean dual link DVI can run 3840x2160? I'm hoping some review will show that

I will get the one with the lowest input lag and pixel response. BenQ have a 32" AVHA 4k panel coming out with 4ms response.

Hmm so tempting to grab one as they are available on ebay and amazon and they ship to my country. But i really need to see some solid reviews first.

Found one on Amazon for $1999 AU but say's it's out of stock. There is only one other seller on amazon which states it is instock but for $2495 AU.

Dunno how there is $500 price difference there.

Then there are a few sellers on ebay all from Korea, and their price is mostly over $2500 AU for it.

I agree, $1999 is bananas for a 32" IPS 4K monitor. You know how much a 26" IPS 1080p monitor cost in 2007? Like freaking $3500. I remember dropping $2700 for one "on sale" and thinking I got a deal for such a big screen. Now they are like $250. Being on the cutting edge is expensive.

Also...it looks like listing started on Amazon. In for 1, it says estimated delivery October 28th.

I do prefer Samsung over BenQ but it's going to be hard to resist the BenQ 32" 4K if it really is half the price of the Sammy @ 1k vs 2k and has half response time @ 4MS vs 8MS for gaming (I know these #'s aren't uniform across all manufactures) Guess we'll see what the in-depth reviews say. Then there's also the Asus 32k. One of these 3 monitors will be my next monitor assuming no other players come in. I would take a glossy one regardless of the price or the performance just since I've become so accustomed with my Apple Cinema Display.

Same withvme bro, I will want to get my hands on one of these 3 monitors but the Benq is still not released and the Asus ProArt we will have to wait until atleast November. And I'm growing tired of waiting lol, looks like Sammy might be the way

Amazon has two listings for UD970, one for the US version which wont be available for more than a month, and the international version which is available now for $2400 that claims in the description will ship with US power plugs. I wonder what's the difference? Apparently there's also a store display version from New Jersey listed on the marketplace for $1499, wonder if anyone will take a leap and buy it? lol

As far as the Benq BL3201, looks interested and maybe be available in a few weeks. Those giant vent holes on the monitor means an internal power brick which makes me cringe, but at half the price of the UD970, a little extra noise might not be a big deal...heh.

the international ver. c/w all sort of 50Hz / 60Hz plugs for all sorts of countries, which costs more

Anyone feeling adventurous and spending $1499 on a demo UD970? :D

Also it seems based on the photos submitted by the demo seller the Samsung UD970 will sadly also have a internal power supply. Since all 3 of the new 4K monitors coming out in the next few weeks will have gigantic internal PSUs, it looks like I may have buy all three--Benq, Samsung, and Asus--and find out which company tried to cheap out the least in their internal PSU and has the lowest amount of PSU whine, as this will be the first monitor I've purchased in a while with an internal power supply--and looking at hardform there's no shortage of complaints of psu whine from large lcd monitors these days, so its not an issue that manufacturers seem to bother shipping out the door with good sound dampening.

According to SPCR adjusting a monitor's brightness setting may help with this issue: http://www.silentpcreview.com/stop_lcd_whine

This is probably similar to the Dell 32" 4K, which has a bunch of issues.

- Sometimes left / right sides of the MST turn off for a couple of seconds
- Monitor doesn't wake up after sleeping. Need to unplug power and plug it back in
- Random multicolored lines appearing on the left and right edges
- Windows get re-arranged after turning monitor off / on.

This monitor doesn't use MST, so it probably doesn't have any of those issues.

I spoke to the guy on Amazon sellung the demo UD970 for $1499 I think he has lowered it to $1299. He also has it on eBay, so it can ship anywhere. But it doesn't come with a receipt so there can't be any warranty honoured on it.

Not keen on spending that kind of money with no receipt or warranty.

Plus I prefer Amazon's return policy if the monitor sucks, they pay for return shipping and no hassles return. With a 3rd party seller you have to pay for shipping and haggle them for ages for a refund. On the other hand...If it drops to $1k or so I might be willing to take a gamble :D

So would it be ok if I bought this monitor from mazon. The seller is amazon, will they refund if I dont like the monitor or it's faulty in anyway.

The seller increased the price from $1299 to $1999 now claims it's brand new. I emailed the seller and they said since Samsung is going to honor the warranty as brand new they are selling it at $1999. What a shady dealer, it's obviously an open-box product. lol.

He told me himself he has used it only for a few hours.
Yet he said he does not have the receipt for it, how can you buy such an expensive product and use it for a few hours but not keep the receipt. Definatly shady seller!

So according to NEC website the PA322UHD will be released on Nov 1st. Wondering should I go with Samsung or NEC.

Well I gave up and went with a LG 49UB8500. If you have the space for a display as big as two 30" monitors, its IPS and 4k60 4:4:4 works out of the box and will save you $500 :-D

Enjoy the sub-180hz PWM Frequency most TV's use.

-----------

NEC=higher price but a real warranty vs. Samsung.

Here he goes again with his passive aggressive attitude. Dude got what he wanted no need for you to respond like a 2 year old.

My post is only passive aggressive if you want it to be, which you obviously do. Maybe my alleged passive aggressive-ness will inspire people to research before they spend a ton of money.

He also said that Samsung's upcoming 4K monitors probably use the same technology...not sure what the point of his post was.

It probably uses a 160-180hz LED PWM Dimming frequency like most of their newer monitors, including the 1000$ S27B971D reviewed by Svete Hardware & S27B970D reviewed by PRAD.

Yeah, I should not warn people about the FACT that Samsung likes to sell their most expensive monitors with and without PWM.

Hey have you guys seen there seems to be 2 version of this monitor; U32D970Q and U32D970D. I dont know what other differences there is but the former is 8ms response and the latter is rated 1ms. Both have same UHD resolution PLS panel.

The U32D970Q is the one that seems to be already released and all over the web, but the website prad.de showed me the other one, U32D970D. Wonder if this 1ms version is going to be released?

1ms-=TN Panel or a mistake made by PRAD (correct answer). I doubt Samsung would sell a display which uses different panels....bhahahahahah (panel lottery is common amongst TV's).

According to amazon, It is still 1-2 months for shipping.
