Eizo FlexScan EV2736W

Could some kind soul check what is the height from your desk/table to the bottom of the screen (bezel) at its lowest position on the stock stand?

Yes, the same one. I am running a EZ2736W as replacement for my NEC2690Wuxi. Was one of the lucky ones whose 2690 had an A-TW filter that reduced it's IPS backlight glow to a faint cyan/green in bottom corners seen only by eye on a black image in a darkened room.

Regarding the Eizo 2736W TFT Central noted, "On a black image we were very pleasantly surprised. We expected to see the normal "IPS-glow" from this screen but actually there was basically no glow at all. The black image remained dark, and no obvious white glow was introduced. Excellent news here".

My EZ2736 is just like that and it
has a standard color gamut which for me is a plus over the NEC2690, no more over saturation.

Good to see the TFT review has been updated, thanks for pointing it out to us.

The Qnix QX323QHD is the only multi-input 1440p monitor which can overclock without dropping frames.

i have this screen and like the colors and image sharpness a lot, and decided to keep it, even though it has some slight backlight bleed in the top center. this can only be seem on a black screen at night or while watching a movie with borders on top and bottom at night, so it doesn't bother me that much.

There seems to be a 2014 version floating about: EV2736W-Z

Mention of it here and here.

I can't really see what is difference is, the Eizo Japan site mentions a different stand but I can't get the specs tab to work in Google translate. It looks the same in pictures. AFAIK Auto EcoView which seems to be the main feature of the new one was on the original version

Perhaps just an aesthetic refresh?

Tried one of these out after reading the TFTCentral review and a little heads-up: the IPS glow is just as bad as any other monitor.

Either there's a panel lottery, or they're not using the low-glow panels anymore.

Aside from that, luminance was surprisingly even, but there was really nasty backlight bleeding in the bottom-left corner, exacerbated by the glow.

That's really surprising and disappointing. Weird that multiple reviewers report that there's hardly any IPS glow. I'll have to erase this monitor from my recommended list then.

Lottery issues can follow any monitor. Why not try one from a dealer with a good return policy? One such reseller was mentioned by me in this thread or obtain one from another reseller of your choice.

I recently bought one from B&H and had a similar issue.

Though, I had no obvious backlight bleed, just incredibly strong glow in the bottom left portion of the monitor; however, the rest of the monitor was completely glow-free.

I own an EV2336 as well and I'd describe the glow from the bottom left as being 100% worse than the normal IPS glow on my EV2336.

I also seem to recall NCX reviewing an AOC Q2770PQU recently that had horrid bottom left glow, so perhaps there's a panel lottery on newer manufactured PLS panels.

I'll be sending my unit back to B&H for an exchange; I'll be sure to post impressions when I get my new unit.

I received my second unit today, and upon inspection found that the second unit also has lower left white corner glow. Thankfully, the corner glow is severely diminished and is barely noticeable compared to the previous unit, so I believe I'll be keeping this one.

It definitely appears that models bought recently all have distinct issues with the bottom left corner, as referenced by BearOso's post, my own and this post from another thread: http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1041070442&postcount=9

In short, buyer beware, and always buy from a site with no-hassle exchange.

Interesting - the unit shipped to me from Eizo Australia a few weeks ago also had bad glow in the bottom left corner. Guess it's just how they come now.

I saw NCX make a mention of how none of the reports of non-glow free panels included details on brightness and room lighting, so I figured I might as well make a follow up. And again, I only experience glow in the bottom left corner, the rest of the monitor is glow-free.

First off, I've calibrated my brightness settings down to 120 cd/m2 using my i1 display pro; the brightness is certainly not cranked.

Second, my room is well lit; I have a lamp with a 60w 5000k light bulb sitting directly behind my monitor, and three 60w 5000k light bulbs powering my ceiling lamp.

I'm definitely not playing in the dark.

The monitor is free from any obvious backlight bleed, as was the first one I owned. There is simply just white corner glow that looks extremely similar to NCX's AOC Q2770qpu.

NCX's Review of the AOC Q2770qpu

Picture NCX provided of the white corner glow

I should also mention, again, that the glow on my second unit is severely diminished when compared to the first one I received. That being said, I'm enjoying this monitor immensely and would recommend it to anyone willing to spend the money, even a partially glow free monitor is better than a glowing monitor.

Given that this panel seems to be glow susceptible (and thus I'd be playing the panel lottery) does it make more sense to just go with a BenQ BL2710PT as I can get that locally, and thus makes exchanges much easier?

If you don't want to play the panel lottery, then that would most likely be the best option.

Keep in mind that there's only four reports of non-glow free panels (two of which are mine) and only two reports include brightness settings/room lighting details; nothing is conclusive.

Decisions, decisions...I have a Eizo FS2333 that I absolutely love, but want to step up to 1440p. I was sold on the EV2736W until I read these glow reports. It's about $200 less for the Benq, which I can purchase at BestBuy and play the panel lottery that way. Otherwise if I want the Eizo I'll have to find a reputable dealer online who has a nice return/exchange program.

I actually own an EV2336W which uses the exact same panel as your FS2333, and I must say the glow on my second unit (which is really only in the bottom left corner, the rest is monitor is glow free) is very tame in comparison to the EV2336W; it's really not even noticeable in comparison.

I mean, my EV2336W glows in all four corners on black backgrounds, the EV2736W is glow-free except for one corner, and that one corner is barely noticeable on this unit. Now my first unit was awful and I commented about excessively strong glow in the first post I made.

I really love the monitor, and I think it's worth playing the lottery if you're buying from a place with no-hassle exchange.

Thanks for the input. Do you by any chance play games on the EV2736W? I'm not super hardcore and won't notice a dropped frame here or there, but my home computer use is 80% gaming (got a big, diverse Steam backlog I'm working through) and 20% internet browsing. The 2333 was a big draw to me because of the very fast response time and IPS panel, so I'm hoping the EV2736 performs similarly.

edit: And as an aside, I would have bought the EV2336W had I been aware of it's existence when I purchased the FS2333. I'm a gamer, but I don't use any of that gaming enhancements on the FS2333. In fact, I prefer the bezel of the EV2336W as it just looks more professional.

I play mostly JRPGs and Osu!; the latter is a fast-paced rhythm game, and I can still play 200 BPM songs to the extent that I don't notice any real difference between my old monitor and my new one.

There's a small bit of overshoot with standard overdrive, I don't think it's something you'd really notice.

And if you're a console gamer it also has the image smoothing that the FS2333 and EV2336W have, so interpolation of 1080p content looks excellent.

Overall, it's pretty well solid to game on.

I pulled the trigger on the Eizo from B&H, should be here on Friday. I'll post my impressions when I've had a chance to play around with it.

How is the anti-glare of this Eizo compared the BenQ BL2710PT? I've seen one and found it a bit too much glare perhaps.

I await your review, friend.

I've never actually seen the BL2710PT, but I imagine any difference in coating would be very minor between the AHVA panel and the PLS panel used in the EV2736W.

If it's of any help, behind me there's an open window where the sun hits my monitor directly during the daytime; despite this, I have no issues with glare.

The review will be coming tomorrow. I barely missed the UPS man on Friday; I was very angry.

I do own this monitor and have enjoyed it for multiple gaming genres (FPS, MMO, RTS). I do not find anti-glare coating to noticeable since I can control the amount of light that gets into my room.

Lets see if I can post these pictures if so I hope they help.

I cannot wait to get this monitor tomorrow.

edit: As I won't have access to a calibrator should I just leave the settings at default and adjust brightness to taste?

Thank you for the images, it looks pretty similar to the BenQ, maybe a little bit better.

Building a new rig and I have spent more time researching the monitor than any other aspect of the build. I have it narrowed down to this monitor and the BenQ BL2710PT. Unfortunately I am not in a position to view either one of these displays in person so I have read everything I could find about them. I'm trying to determine if the Eizo is $400-$450 better than the BenQ.

If so I'll purchase one if not then BenQ it is. I'm trying to avoid playing the panel lottery if at all possible. I will likely purchase the finalist from either Amazon or B&H. Any comments on which has the most liberal return policy will be greatly appreciated.

-TIA

I was in the same position as you and settled on the Eizo. NCX urged me to give the Eizo a shot given I was buying from B&H and they have a hassle-free return policy. I don't think Amazon stocks the Eizo themselves; you'd be buying from their marketplace. For that reason I recommend buying from B&H. The monitor shipped the same day I ordered it and got here in 2 days (however I missed the UPS man so I won't get the monitor until today).

Apologies for not replying sooner my settings are the default user 1 settings.

Brightness 30
Contrast 50
Temperature off
Gamma 2.2
Overdrive enhanced
Gains RGB all set to 100.

I was going to purchase a calibrator however as the days/weeks went by I adjusted and started to enjoy my monitor, which to me is the most important part of the purchase instead of seeking beyond perfection.

The colour preset accuracy is excellent, only the brightness should be reduced since it comes cranked

And overdrive should be set to standard, correct? I noticed the brightness being cranked immediately upon powering the monitor on.
