GTX 980 & GTX 970 Availability Thread

I ordered from amazon on wed but still nothing...cant believe these cards are still out of stock
Looks like all the evgas are in stock at NE

anyone that ordered from amazon when it was on backorder, did you get it yet?

Nope. I ordered just a few minutes after the cards went up, and I'm still waiting (ASUS 970 STRIX). I don't know if Amazon has restocked anything since then. I haven't heard of anyone getting their's shipped at least.

edit: Looks like I just got an email from Amazon with a shipping estimate. It looks like they will be getting more of the ASUS by Monday. Since I'm out of town next week, I dropped my one day shipping down to the free 2 day shipping, and it's showing Oct. 1 as my expected delivery date.

How come Classified and FTW versions available at eBay? Has anyone seen them on either Amazon, Egg or eVGA?

Avoid those as they are fake (99.9% chance). I believe EVGA said they are looking at late October for the 980 Classified.

This. I would absolutely not look at ebay for a 970 or 980, period. Fake sellers or not, anyone that is selling one on there outside of an etailer (newegg etc) is just looking to make a quick buck on the impatient.

More cards will be in stock on Monday at most etailers, just keep your eyes peeled.

bpizzle1 : I ordered early wed but haven't got anything yet...I just saw an email from amazon & thought it was going to say your Asus is shipping Tom but no "Customers who bought this item..." =(

Mine shipped yesterday according to Amazon. Should be here Tuesday. Unfortunately (but not really lol) I'll be in the Bahamas for the week.

Goddamn.... this is almost like a paper launch....

I just want the Asus 970 for crying out loud!

These bad boys are all sold out everywhere. Only thing you can really find is the Zotac 970's - no one seems to want to touch that brand, heh. I had a Gigabyte G1 970 in my cart on TigerDirect and then hesitated because I want an EVGA. Oh well maybe next week.

It's not so much that no one wants to touch the brand as it is that no one wants to touch the cheapest Zotac 970. I'm hearing that it's sort of a dinky card with a poor cooler and is a cheaper build overall. The two other Zotac 970s are much better builds but I think they're priced too high at $379 and $409 respectively.

They need to drop the price of the $379 one to about $349 where it can compete with the Asus 970.

NewEgg has been refreshing stock quite often. Just keep an eye out.

I am... I've set up an auto-notify and I keep a browser tab open on the Newegg page. :D

I don't know why I am obsessed with upgrading, this Zotac GTX 770 in my rig is still a beast... lol.

new egg had it in stock and amazon still doesn't..might have to pass on prime shipping since amazon still doesn't have it
Blue falcon what is the visa certified promo??

I won't buy from Amazon unless I have no other choice, since there is no tax for me at Newegg. Besides, Newegg is now an advertising partner again here at the [H] so I'm assuming much of the bad blood is water under the bridge now.

At checkout use the promo code VISACHECKOUT and then make SURE to choose 'Visa Checkout' at the payment methods screen (where you can choose credit card, paypal, bitcoin, etc). Then it will take you to sign up for Visa Checkout where you will put in your payment info and complete payment. As far as I can see it doesn't have to be a Visa credit or debit card either, there were a number of payment options listed during the Visa Checkout payment process.

You WILL NOT get the discount unless you complete payment using Visa Checkout. If you don't use Visa Checkout the discount will be removed when your payment is processed.

Blue falcon thanks for the heads up!! Canceled my amazon order (still no stock) and got it from new egg for 335!

Now all I need is a monitor! Suggestions lol

ROG Swift. Game changing purchase, a new 970 or 980 purchase isn't complete without it imo. Playing Shadows of Mordor at 2560x1440 fully maxed out, silky smooth regardless the frame rate is simply amazing.

Out of stock!! Lol we got it just in time thanks to blue falcon!
chizow: how is that game? Is there arog swift 24 inch? 800 over budget lol

It's getting really good reviews from both publications and users alike. Not anything that's going to get GOTY mentions or awards for amazing story/plot twists, but a fun hybrid of Batman and Assassin's Creed. There are some fresh new ideas though, like the Nemesis System which allows monsters to level up and progress through the Orc political hierarchy. You can control this to your will, or inadvertently when you die to Orcs. Also highly recommend a 360/One controller.

The graphics are really outstanding though, definitely a lot of next-gen features like Tesselation and subsurface scattering (for skin). Textures are really good with the HD pack. Uses ~3.5GB of VRAM at 2560x1440 so puts that 4GB on Maxwell cards to good use.

As for the monitor, there is the older VG248Q that can be equipped with G-Sync module, and I think there are more panels coming to market with G-Sync. But most of them are 1080p and I don't think 1080p really does the 970/980 justice lol. It'll be a good experience regardless though! G-Sync is still a benefit at high framerates (not as much as lower FPS) because it gets rid of judder/stutters and fully eliminates tearing. At high FPS tearing is less noticeable, but its completely gone with G-Sync.

Great tech, def put it in your budget at some point.

Yeah that is the one that can take the G-Sync module, but the module itself costs another $200 and requires some manual dexterity/familiarity with small electronic components to install.

At this point you may want to look for or wait for some of the newer G-Sync panels that are hitting the market with everything already installed and the additional premium is about the same, if not slightly less than Asus monitor + G-Sync module.

As for TN vs. IPS....that's going to be a trade-off for some time imo, personally I have not looked back from a U2410 for gaming because the benefits far outweigh the negatives. Personally I would prefer much better image quality in motion and gaming vs. better image quality/colors for still or static images. There are some rumors that AU Optronics will be releasing a 144Hz capable IPS next year, but it will be pricey. Nvidia has also said G-Sync technology does not preclude the use of IPS panels, but so far, no mfgs have announced a monitor using IPS or brought one to market.

But, keep an eye out for some 24" 1080p G-Sync panels before the holidays. They will be more reasonably priced ($400-500 range) than the Swift and also be easier to get, imo.

Are there any etas on 24 inch gsync monitors? Wish there was a pc retailer that carried all these monitors so if I wasn't satisfied could easily return it

Same, love 120+ fps

Can you imagine someone spending about $2k for a pair of 980s SLI'd and the 27" Asus Swift RoG monitor? That must be gaming heaven. Too rich for my blood, but one can dream. :p

Now that I have had a payday I cant seem to find any 980's in stock.

Been happy with my Zotac 680 was hoping to find a 980 from them.

What gets me is that none, not one, of the big sites has upgraded the web store to allow for easy searches for gtx 900 series cards... The one that I saw 900 series as a link only showed 970's.

Getting 2 or 3 970's and playing with SLI has its fun points, I'd just as soon get a single card.
