Nvidia 980/970 Availability Thread

Think I'll go with the 970 GTX =) It's cheaper and it's still a pretty good upgrade from my 670 GTX I would go 980 GTX but I will never notice the difference between the two from the games I play =)
I like the look of the EVGA 970 GTX blower too.....I live in Wisconsin and overheating with cards is usually not a problem it wasn't this year anyway.

I just bought: EVGA 04G-P4-1972-KR GeForce GTX 970 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 G-SYNC Support Video Card
www.newegg.com =)

780 ti might be faster but this run hella cooler =) Less power draw ect...

I would go SLI but I heard of so many problems with people on the Nvidia forums updating drivers then both cards stop working =) I read that a few dozen times on the Nvidia forums over the years.

I think I got an EVGA 04G-P4-2982-KR Geforce GTX 980 4GB 256-bit GD for $527.86 after shipping/handling/tax from NeweggBusiness. I got an email with the order confirmation so am assuming it went through and my credit card was charged. I don't think it's a sure thing until I actually get a shipping number though.

Wish I could have gotten the 2983 version but I didn't see it on Newegg. I usually order Gigabyte and rarely buy on the day of the launch so I'm all kinds of nervous. Is there any real differences in brands at this point since they all seem to be "reference cards".

Nice discount, just ordered that from regular newegg for 569.99.

No free games with these early models?

Yeah, I originally ordered from Amazon earlier this morning. Even with my Prime Membership, it was $604 after tax. Took a chance on NE a few minutes ago and snagged one for $575 shipped. Adding to that my Barclay Rewards comes out to $12, $10mir:)mad:) and $5 gift card(basically saves shipping..almost) and net cost is $548 or $57 cheaper than Amazon.:eek:Just got confirmation from NE and its moving to packaging..Amazon order cancelled. Pretty nice!

I'm bummed and excited at the same time...

On the one hand my two SC ACX 970's (which apparently are 1.0's not 2.0's??? I didn't even know evga was making them without the new cooler  !) are showing this on tracking:

8:56 am At local FedEx facility (One town over from me)
7:15 am At destination sort facility (A few cities away)

On the other hand, I could have saved $70 + tax going with that not-then-active neweggbusiness code ($50) and the 10/each cheaper item price. I have an email into amazon but I don't like my chances here... I'll probably just take the package and enjoy regardless but it's a bit of a bummer to see the 70 price difference right off the bat like that :(. Tax isn't amazon's fault, obviously, but the $70 would put me at ease.

I want one of the 980's, but not sure it is a large enough bump in performance to replace my 780.

Yeah, kinda feeling the same way about my GTX 690. 2 gens old though, more vram and I think its the same(at least) or better performance on one card. Also since I like to fund my new GPUs by selling the old, its time to cash out before its too late.:)

My two cards show this on tracking now:
"9:06 am On FedEx vehicle for delivery"

Got mine!

Well there will always be something new out there hehe, if you think about it the 970 is around 780/Titan performance while the 980 is slightly above the 780Ti. What makes them shine is the lower wattage use. I would look at the actual use of the video card and why you want to upgrade. Look at reviews and compare them as well as costs to upgrade, whether you're selling/buying, have extra cash to burn and what not. For the most part I personally think its a good upgrade if you have a 770/680 and lower, if you have a GK110 series you should be good and wait for the supposed GM210 (mind you the 970/980 is GM204, so there could be a 1K series and/or Ti on the horizon).

Though if you do hang out on enthusiast forums it will only drive that itch to upgrade :)... heck I've seen people having 780Ti and only play games such as league

Good advice, although the 970 retail models are really about the same as a 780 Ti while the 980 is a cut above :). MFAA coming soon will provide even better performance, while oc'ability, lower power draw, and lower heat output and noise are all other nice factors (in addition to the low pricing).

Looks like Canadians will have to wait.

Of the 5 or so major Canadian e-tailers for computer hardware, only NCIX is showing significant listings for 9x0 cards, all on pre-order, and at a considerable markup (even when considering the exchange).

Oh well.
.
EDIT: Whoop, maybe not. If I'm willing to go with Zotac, I can get an okayish $384 970 here in 5 days. Hmm, decisions. If only they didn't have that nontransferable warranty

Yeah I should leave now... that 970 pricing/performance/efficiency is winking at me and very tempting lol... I've jumped several cards just beginning of this year. :D

I see Gigabyte 980 in stock at microcenter

Anyone see any availability at fry's?

Evga is in stock at the microcenter by me, guess where I am going this afternoon..

why are there no reference cooler 970's..... this always makes me sad...

The MSI 980 card has popped back up on NewEgg a couple times in the last few hours.
I almost pulled the trigger for quicker shipping, but settled for the normal 3-day.

In for 1 EVGA 970 w/ ACX cooler from Newegg for $329 and $7 three day shipping from Newegg a few minutes ago.

annnnnd here I go again: 2 Evga SC 980's

4-7 day newegg shipping means I should probably have it tomorrow right? (or at least close to that)

I really want the GIGABYTE GV-N980G1 but 60 bucks more than the EVGA with ACX cooling???? Thats a stretch.

Also fuck you Amazon for putting a warehouse in PA! Got to wait and see if they come up on the egg......

Thanks! Out of stock at my local Microcenter. Although I think I'm going to hold out for Newegg Business. That $50 off + no sales tax is hard to beat.

I think you mean "I love Amazon for putting a warehouse in PA", enabling same/cheap next day delivery to Philly, Baltimore, DC and such.

I think he means, beacause there is a warehouse in his state, he needs to pay state taxes on all his purchases. Amazon does not charge tax on purchases when they dont have a warehouse in your state.

Right.

Amazon did that here in WI. Put a warehouse just north of the IL border off I-94, so now they can ship super quick to Chicagoland, but us in WI are stuck with paying sales tax.

Can't fault 'em. It's good business. Just would have been nice if they put the warehouse in IL instead. ;)

Oh right, that part does suck. When Amazon puts a warehouse here you can be assured I'll be buying everything from Newegg. Don't pay taxes you can avoid. ;)
Newegg Business is offering instant $50.00 discount off any order of $550.00 or more, sitewide.
Coupon Code: B2BMLR55
You're my hero. Just picked up an EVGA 980 with the coupon code. Had to add a $0.43 cable to get over $550 lol. It's shipping from the NJ warehouse so I'll probably have it tomorrow or Monday at the latest despite Eggsaver. Some of the new releases only ship from CA, but it appears they were able to get the logistics on this one sorted out in advance.

I picked up the 970 for a buddy of mine. The guys at Microcenter had no clue that they came out today.

For eVGA, what's the difference between the ACX cooler and the ACX 2.0 cooler?
