Dead Rising 3 PC

For Nvidia users Capcom is recommending people rollback to the 335.23 WHQL driver to fix some CTD issues while they work on a fix.

Rolled back to GeForce 335.23 WHQL drivers did the trick. Just played for 3 hours, and no crashes. Kinda sucks that the latest Nvidia driver is a terd for this game.

yea i'm getting tons of CTD with 340.52 driver
too lazy to roll back... time to do something else till its patched

I agree with TB on this one. I'll wait and see what happens.

wasn't the last game a bad port as well?...didn't they learn anything from that?...it shouldn't be this difficult to get the basics right

yeah it does but not like in the old ones. Most missions you get something like 2-5 hours real time to complete maybe. most of the time I just fill my screen with missions and still maybe to finish them all while fooling around. As a slower player it was really nice to play the game at my own pace. This one is more about just hanging about having fun. Sort imagine if they took all those padded side missions GTA and actually made them thoughtful and entertaining. So instead of playing the main story and just doing side missions until you get side mission fatigue this game the side missions as fun as the main mission and gel well with exploring for treasure and unlocks.

I've been playing my way through Dead Rising 2 after finishing this one and its really frustrating to get a mission while youre involved in something else and its a race against time to get it done. It just doesn't feel very cathartic after work gaming that Dead Rising 3 is. The clock is extremely de-emphasized in this one and only kind of exists to push the story along.
Thanks. I hate timed missions and am glad to know that this game doesn't have that crap.

I've a few questions about the timing for this one and mission completion. Previous Dead Rising titles had the opportunity to "miss" side missions if you weren't there on the correct in-game day, or during the correct main-mission timing. It sounds from the discussion above, its a bit more permissive which I consider a good thing. I also like it that the map shows collectable locations from the start, since there are so many of them and they're so useful (ie weapon/item plans)

Do ALL side missions that actually flag as missions (ie rescue random survivor you just walked by types, I assume don't count)., actually show up via radio and go onto your mission log when they become accessible? Any way to miss them aside from letting the time run out without going and completing them? For instance, on Day 1 and within Chapters 0, 1, and 2 (ie prior to first encounter with biker gang), I saw the opportunity to free-roam a bit and pick up collectibles (though, some doors are locked and I would very much like to be able to flag those to go back later somehow. Its annoying to spend a lot of time trying to get to a plan-icon, only to find it is behind a locked door). Over this time, there were a couple of side missions that popped up, and I completed them. However, I began to worry (as nightfall came) that I was spending too much time goofing off and that I'd miss something by being too early or too late, either in relation to Day or Chapter. Is it possible that say... there's some side mission out there that requires "After Chapter 3, but still on Day 1 Before Dark",? Ayone know about this?

Finally, I remember in Dead Rising 2, you could basically quit and start the game from the beginning, but keep all your experience, plans, equipment slots/spec and whatnot. Is this the case in DR3?

Thanks!

Different Developer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And it's still a shitty port that isn't worth more than $15-$20, tops.

The most important part of this somewhat surprisingly favorable review (to me) is this:

Dead Rising 3 was, until recently, an Xbox One ‘exclusive’, and it’s pretty clear that PC wasn’t the primary development platform. This isn't one of Capcom's best ports. It’s a system hog, and you’ll need a substantial PC to run it on high settings. It’s also locked to 30 frames per second out of the box, which makes the already slow, heavy combat feel even more sluggish.

You can, however, force 60 by creating a user.ini file in the same directory as deadrising3.exe and adding gmpcr_unlock_frame_rate=True to it, but this will hit your machine even harder. Those of you with older GPUs and CPUs might struggle to run the game at a decent frame rate, especially in busy areas like the freeways, which are clogged with thousands of zombies.

so Watch Dogs all over again (minus the E3 graphics downgrade)...the graphics don't seem to match the substantial hardware it requires to run

It's pretty sad to me that we've gone from games like Crysis where you needed badass hardware but the game looked spectacular, to needing badass hardware to play a mediocre "next-gen" console port because of shitty porting.

1. I already gave my copy to a friend so bare with me I'm a little foggy. No there's no TOD constraints on missions do whatever you want when you want.

2. yes everything you can get to in the game is on the map and you can switch primary missions in the maps screen (hugely helpful). The only exception is like sometimes some dingus won't join you or accept rescue unless you find something for him usually for a combo he will then give you the blueprint for. So like some douchebag wanted me to find a meatcleaver and a chainsaw? I had to just look around. They won't map that stuff for you.

3. No not really but for some reason there is specific rooms you can't get into until you complete the primary mission for them. I recall a few places where like you couldn't get into this dudes house(where a blueprint was) until you do the mission that requires you to get in for a main plot reason. It's not bad like maybe happened to me 10 times out of a hundred places I tried to get to too early in the game while hunting unlocks.

4. Not until you've beaten the game I don't think. So DR1 and 2 are shorter games meant to be restarted over and over like a simulator. This one is actual campaign a bit more like a resident evil game mixed with saints row comedy.

I think that answers everything. I'll be honest I read all the reviews before buying it on xbone not a one answered these exact same questions I had.

One thing I should note is no you don't "need" blueprints for anything and theres no work bench anymore. You can just randomly try to make two items fuck each other and boom combo, but obviously having blueprints A. makes doing combos easier B. the game now has lockers where you can just blink in weapons, vehicles and clothing provided you found the blueprints.

Its a lot of fun to just grab a hamburger and a carton of milk and be like

*last thing* USE THE EXPRESSWAY ON AND OFF RAMPS. THEY DON'T TELL YOU THIS BECAUSE THEY ARE DICKS.

I almost pre-ordered this but then I backed off "hhaaha almost got me capcom. Fool me 50 times...can't get fooled again!" Yeah wait for a $20 sale though it's capcom so expect to be waiting 3 years.
