See How a Bugatti Veyron is Delivered

Great car back in circa 2006, but to be honest its showing its age and exclusivity which most hypercar owners value is down the drain. Its been overbuilt and undersold (the last units are yet to be spoken for and now are being given new line names to hopefully attract buyers).

In addition the Veyron doesn`t have useable speed. You need a massive track to reach its claim to fame top speed, and only sustain it for 10 minutes before the tires disintegrate. Cornering is fine, but for a $1+ mil car its nothing to right home about as proven by the mp4-12C.

Veyron the A380 of the car world

end rant lol.

Very few people who own those kind of cars know how to drive them, having money does not make you a good driver. There are a few who when getting cars like this will take some lessons, but those are few and are the ones who plan on tracking it at some point.

Case in point:

https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=601783596502856

@0:44 is the best.

Its not entirely dependent on the car; its the speed that people don't know how to handle. You can drive a Porsche or a Honda Civic; but at 100 MPH+ a slight movement in the wheel translates into a LOT of movement on the road and many people don't understand that. So when they're traveling at these speeds many individuals will jerk the wheel just like they would at 50-60 MPH and lose control of their vehicles. Its just these more expensive performance cars entice individuals to drive at higher speeds that they are not ready for.

Anyway, I apologize for the thread hi-jack, carry on.

My favorite part was the hardwood floor on the delivery truck.

Most commercial trailers are hardwood. Not polished like in this video, but wood nonetheless. A lot of them traditionally also have wood on the sidewalls of the trailer to protect the trailer from unsecured or improperly secured loads.

A trailer with mirrored finish on all sides, that looks like an accident waiting to happen.

Why would anyone buy an ugly ass Bugatti when you could buy a Ferrari with that kind of money?

Because when you are rich enough to afford a car like this the only thing that means anything to people of that wealth is exclusivity. Their friends can all afford the same stuff and literally anything on the planet. What drives someone who has everything and worries about nothing? Things only they can have (aka exclusivity).

When you start watching drag vids all day, every day, you actually get to get what is exclusive and what not just at a glimpse.

A quick YT leads to DragTimesInfo's vid of the Veyron getting an 11 sec quarter mile.

Why is it that the pro street Toranas I see on FPV knock 10 secs? Because they're actually built for one to get to those times and unlike the Veyron which is nothing more than a rich kid's car.

That is because it was built to be the fastest OEM street legal car. OFC it doesn't compete with highly modified non street legal cars. It isn't even in the same category.

In similar pointless news, the worlds fastest land car on the nevada salt flats also has a shitty quarter mile..

I'm sorry guys but if I am gonna spend 3 million for a car, it's gonna be for something like THIS :D

Pro street means a street legal car you can ride that is modified... let me give you an example

You can drive that thing on the street all day, every day.

More so, in 1/8 mile races the turbocharged t-birds have incredible launches.

Exactly. It's top speed was beat by the SSC Ultimate Aero, will be destroyed by the SSC Tuatara and out accelerated and maneuvered by dozens of other cars. At top speed, you can only drive it for 18 minutes before having to fill up the gas tank! Also think it's fugly. Never understood the fascination with the Veyron.

Still a heavily modified car and in no way shape or form something just anyone can buy. Not even close to the same category. People looking at things like the Veyron and the like don't really give a shit that they can build something faster. They are looking for something that has a certain reputation associated with it and that other people will instantly recognize. Think of it this way, It is like trying to compare custom computers to Alienware. Both are fast, but they appeal to entirely different demographics. The people that built their own can say yea I have <insert list of parts> and most people are going to stare at you blankly. The others are like I've got an Alienware and more people are going to recognize that.

That is right, however if I be generous and do compare it to supercars of similar catagories it still fails for what it is. It's price/performance is terrible. You can get a Ferrari Cali or an SLS AMG and get good performance, for way, way less price. You're basically paying 3 mil for $300.000 worth of performance.

If I'm buying a Bugatti it's for one reason. Not the performance (though it's great). Not the looks (though they're great too). It's the engineering. Even at $3M per car, they're still losing millions on each sale. :p

You would think that the person/car company that buys a $3M car would spend <$1k on a professional camera man to make a 4 min video...

So this is exactly like taking delivery of a printer.

What you have defined there is not exclusivity. If someone can afford a $3MM car, they can afford to finance an engineering team who could build them a turn-key 4 second top fuel dragster. At the end of the day, who cares? There's nothing exclusive about a 4 second top fuel dragster. There's tens to hundreds out there. That Veyron? There aren't that many, perhaps only so many that you can count on one or two hands. THAT is exclusivity to the ultra rich. That is what they care about.

That's nice, but this is how you paint a supercar...

Not one dragster is the same compared to another, also, you're talking about dragsters, so your point is moot.

As for that Veyron, it's nothing but a Veyron with make up. If you have done your research, you'd have read that the Vitesse Veyron is just a Veyron with a make up (and I did my research even though this car is none of my interest). And it's very ugly too.

Exclusivity is subjective, but as somebody that has been looking into drag racing for a long time I do see an old Torana doing a 10 sec exclusive. After all, how many super street cars do you see on the street that can do that?

Fwoosh. The sound of a point sailing over a noobs head.

I'm sure everything you say is accurate. It also has nothing to do with why rich people buy these things.

Why would anyone buy an ugly ass Bugatti when you could buy a Ferrari with that kind of money?

What? that car is a beauty, imo off course but to answer your general question, anyone with enough money to buy Bugatti has enough money to buy a Ferrari. I'd wager who bought that car probably already has a couple in his garage.
I always laugh when people use a car manufacturer as a generic term, as if they only made one model of car. What Ferrari? New model Ferraris range anywhere from $200,000 to $1,300,000. That is excluding all the custom orders they fulfill for the hyper rich.

And for the record, the Veyron has always been a butterface :D.

Yup, Verron is a very cool and ridiculously expensive car. But if I was in market for a sports car, I`d rather buy Nissan GT-R AMS Alpha 12 and pocket the difference. The ground clearance in some of those groundhuggers is just too little.
I would think ~1700 horsepower would be a bit much to deal with for driving on the street.

With more than $3,000,000 I'd hunt down a Ferrari F40, fully restore it to new condition, stock myself up with tires and other spare parts, and then tour the world's great race tracks. All these new supercars are too locked down with electronic nannies.

I'm sure everything you say is accurate. It also has nothing to do with why rich people buy these things.

Please point out anything you find inaccurate from my sayings.

As to why people buy a Grand Vitesse Veyron, I can't possibly find a sensible reason since other super cars such as a McLaren MP4 outclass it.

If you're going to talk about exclusivity, I can say I have a cup that only I own on the planet. Very exclusive. His point is about that relevant to me.

When you have that much money it isn't about "Sensible Reason". It is about "I want it and therefore I can".

Me personally? I see now value in supercars at all. I can't drive them their intended way on the street, so why not just rent it on a track for a day here and there to get it out of my system? Far cheaper. But that is me..not someone with billions of dollars laying around. You keep using the Torana as this exclusive thing but it forgets something important. That car is ugly as fuck..I don't care how much power it has modded. See that? Personal opinion. That is why People buy a Veyron over a Ferrarri or a Lambo over an Aston "Personal Taste". You know, the same reason why you buy an Xb1 over a PS4.

Well then let's just say, like I mentioned, subjectivity. Person X likes the Veyron, I don't.

As for Torana, it was just an example because it's what is used on the Sydney Dragway since that's what they have the most down there. It's a car that is thousands of miles away located from me... replace it's name with Mustang or Thunderbird if you want better looks...

As per se OP, I'd say the owner of the Veyron there has very shitty taste as it looks like crap in just my "personal taste".

If you're going to talk about exclusivity, I can say I have a cup that only I own on the planet. Very exclusive. His point is about that relevant to me.

There's a few factors to exclusivity, and rareness is but one. Base-price, notoriety, demand, are all other large factors. Your one of a kind cup may be very rare, but it's worth a few bucks, has no notoriety attached to it, and probably has about as much demand as a second-hand cup has. For a fanatic cup collector, you may have a buyer. For a man with billions who can buy pretty much anything, these factors have to combine together enough so that his friends look on with envy :p

I had a long response typed out and realized the moron just isn't worth my time. He clearly fits the title.

I don't know how should I reply to this asshattery, but it sure is pathetic. It's the forum that puts that title.

Let me just say, you must be bigger of a moron that buys that car.

Did you register on this forum just so people can hear your bitching in a news thread about how a Bugatti is delivered?

Lovely cars but I'm sure actually owing and living with a super car is a nightmare a lot of the time.

Always on tenterhooks in case it gets damaged (cost and months to get fixed). Is the route I'm taking capable for the car. Can I park when I get there? Dirt road? No thanks! Look at those curbs/speed bumps! This lane is too narrow and there is a Range Rover coming the other way!!" Opps curbed the alloy there...that's £3000 to fix!

Too stressful!

Funny, when I got my Bugati it was just thrown in a box with some of those big plastic bubble sacks that scare the dog when I pop em.

I got a flat tire and I can't afford to replace it.
