Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Which means people who play 12 hours a day will have an advantage, no? :D

Only in quantity of drops and, of course, the extra stats and gear flexibility. Of course, there will still be players that find the most uber-rare items with like 1 hour of lvl 70 gameplay while the nolifers grind away in frustration, so there's that aspect of it too.

I was simply pointing out that exp isn't everything (or even anything), but I will say that removing the campaign kinda ruins the "magic" of "starting over", instead just making sure everyone goes into repetitive grind mode (like the ridiculous CotA runs that people did pre-RoS launch).

I understand, but most of what helps is loot. If I'm level 70 by 8 PM EST while it takes you until Monday, that's a 3 day head start. And there is a leaderboard for the first 1000 level 70s of each class. Expect it on SC to be halfway full by tonight.

Ah, I didn't realize there was leaderboard for that. My client is bugged and I don't even have the seasonal character checkbox, so I guess I'm out of the running for that "feat", but honestly who even cares about that? Getting to 70 is not an accomplishment.

(edit: just realized I'm 20 minutes early for new seasonal characters, so my client is likely fine)

I need moar two handed weapons for my Crusader.

Does anyone else find it harder to socket their jewelery?

Anyone noticing serious lag since the 2.1 patch? I constantly find myself clicking 5-10-15 times while nothing happens, then suddenly everything catches up at once in a series of explosions. It's extremely frustrating, especially when I end up dead after a sudden "catch up" sequence.

So I guess as a non-seasonal player I'm stuck playing solo forever.
Literally 9/10 people on my friends list and recent players list are playing seasons right now.

The non-seasonal community (specifically HC) is dead.

Level 70 SC hit in 40 minutes, Malth T6 killed about an hour after. Shade of Evil T6 killed a couple hours after that

Level 70 HC was hit in under 4 hours.

I know the level 70 was done using T6 bounties that didn't require any killing. No idea how they managed to kill malth / shade with basically no gear.

how the hell did you get the gear for T6 in an hour?

I'd like to see that 40 minute video. I played last night with some HOCP guys and it took me 8 hours to hit lvl 54. :(

I did level 70 in HC in 8 hours last night....and I had a camper who did very little beyond stay in town.

how were you playing and what difficulty did you use?
I played on normal at first since I was lvl 1 and joined a HOCP group with the leader at lvl 15, so I was just running around trying not to die.
As soon as I got to lvl 20 or so, I went to Master and then Torment from 30-54 to get faster levels playing solo as it was late and no one was playing seasons.
I did have an underpowered weapon for a bit during Torment, was taking a long time to kill things, got a stronger bow from the blacksmith and started running through the bounties, getting 5-6 levels per complete run..

If you are trying to level up is always best to be on the difficulty where you can kill white mobs in 1 or 2 hits....So Normal the entire time.

I had no clue how the leaders board works but I was in the top 20 all night. Now I know its based off of achievements which is just stupid I never to achievements on purpose.

Posting a video of my bull shit Teleport wizard right now.

Fun seasonal campaign run last night with some of the HOCP crew. Power leveled one member and found some good loot in the process. Good stuff. :D

Hey all,

Didn't play much of D3 -- I got tired after making a few runs through Normal/Nightmare/Hell/Torment?

Not sure what's so nice about RoS to make me want to come back and pay the 40$ for it. Is this game truly enjoyable now?

Disclaimer: I am not a D2 purist. I just want a fun game and D3 at launch wasn't.

FWIW, I'm downloading the base game again for another run.

Take all the experiences you had with D3 when it came out and throw them out the window. Its a very different game now and what is should have been at release.

I recommend buying it.

If you didn't like D3 originally because doing runs through the same content over and over wasn't your cup of tea, we'll that hasn't changed at all. Just more loot and better synergy when grouped up.

If you do get RoS then play a crusader. That guy is a beast.

How long are the seasons?

Not sure, but I thought I read that they said about 3 months or something like that.

I wonder if they are gonna nerf DH's mid seasons. Hopefully not, I kind of want my DH to be useful once it transfers after seasons.

Touching anything mid-season would be truly bad form considering that it is a competitive environment. They just spent 2+ months testing this stuff on the PTR and it's not like August 29th was some significant date; if this is how they launched seasons this is how everything should stay for the season.

If something or some class has some massive advantage over all the others it wont matter. Its just hopeful thinking that Blizzard or any company for that matter wont make changes over the season specifically in competitive play. I am not sure how broken DH is because I just came back but if it is truly broken dont expect it not to be nerfed.

I support this message. RoS makes the game completely different and the last few patches have really improved the game a lot.

Plus even better, you can make a Seasonal character and just go ahead and start with a blank slate, make it even more fun.

DHs have always done well after 2.0, but it's the Marauder 6 piece bonus that puts them on another level entirely. Sentries are invulnerable and can do an insane amount of damage, so we simply set down 3-4 of them and... that's it, maybe run away if an enemy gets too close.

Blizzard is not going to nerf it because it's the only viable endgame build for DHs. Cluster Arrow/Strafe builds start fizzling out at Torment 5.

They'll do what they do with everything else, nerf Marauder and buff/change other abilities to make them more viable. Nothing will ever be as viable as Marauder is now, so on the whole it will be a class-wide nerf.
I think if Blizz was going to nerf it, they already would have. How long as ROS been out... The nerf would have come with 2.1 most likely, with all the other class changes they made.

The fact that 99% of the top GR ranks are explicitly M6 DH's should be a clear sign to Blizzard that something is wrong -- all other classes in the game need a buff, or more simply M6 needs a nerf.
Didn't they say they were going to use GR ranks as balance indicators? I swear they said that.

I'm finishing up my WD and then working on my DH for M6. The playstyles are similar but it seems the DH has better surviviability and more damage potential. The only downside, I don't really like any other aspect of the DH though.

Never underestimate Blizzard's willingness to nerf ANY build. I learned this lesson the hard way thanks to years of WoW.

Don't forget the sheer awesomeness of Blizzard when it comes to nerfing things that don't need to be nerfed, therefore making a weak class even weaker :p

That's how I play, drop 3 or 5 sentries (depending on if I have the bombardier quiver) and just run in circles dropping caltrops to slow the enemies.
I'll let the sentries do all the work most of the time.

You're talking about monks, right? Amiright or amijustrght? Iknowimright. Fully geared 1500 hour monk surpassed by my moderately geared 40 hour crusader.

Of course now my crusader has like 350 hours and is fully geared.

Sadness because monks are still my fave class.

So if you don't care about being competitive, is there any reason to play seasons? A friend and I started new Crusaders on the season after getting RoS, just to start from scratch and have fun. Aren't there some special things you can get from the season, or do you have to actually rank to get anything?

There are a few season-only legendaries. If you don't care about rankings then this season is mostly just a way to "start from scratch" without imposing artificial limits on yourself.

Later seasons will probably have different modifiers/features; one of the devs said they might remove CHD entirely for one season.
