6990 vs two 7770 2gb

Which would I get better performance out of?

I've got two 7770's as well as a 6990. Im just trying to get the best bang for my buck.
 
I think your 6990 would be better. If anything, it might be vaguely worth your while to jump to a single 290 if you can get a deal. It should be overall stronger while being a single-GPU card...

Just something to consider as used 290s are out there and some are pretty cheap.
 
You're kidding right? That 6990 is a beast. You would think that two 7770 cards would be faster but CrossFire or SLI setups are not as good as single GPU cards. If Nvidia or AMD didn't make a profile for a particular game it might as well do nothing but increase fillrate. Here's a comparison between a 6990vs7750. Nearest thing I could find that compares the two.
 
Alrighty then. Ill toss the pair into the wifes computer. The main reason I was asking was due to mantles release since it only supports HD 7xxx series and up. The second was noise. but I can just bite the bullet and buy the accelero twin turbo. no big deal.

the 6990 is a dual gpu card(2x6970), AKA crossfire on a single card. so still crossfire.
 
The 6990 wins in this case just due to memory bandwidth. The 7770 only has a 128 bit memory bus so only has 72GB/s memory bandwidth. The 6990 has 320GB/s. If you're going to be using crossfire with either then you'll want the extra bandwidth so you can turn up the AA.

Also note, the 6990 may be a dual gpu card, but even if you're only running a game on one of the gpus, a single GPU from the 6990 has 2.4x as many shaders as a single 7770.
 
Why are those the only 2 options? I'd say do neither and just get a 7970/280x, you can probably find one for the same price or cheaper than a 6990 and you'd have a newer and better optimized gpu that would be far more power efficient, run cooler, and have an extra gb of vram plus you wouldnt have to deal with the hassles of crossfire.

Since it looks like you already have the 6990 I'd suggest just selling it and getting 7970/280x or you can probablypick up a cheap 290 in the $220 or less range.
 
6970s are around 7850 level, so all else being equal, the 6990 will still be faster than a pair of 7770s.

If you own both already, stick with the 6990 and sell the 7770s.

But if you were so inclined, you could get a 280x and overclock it for similar performance (but smoother, cooler and quieter, and less compatibility issues).
 
what about the 2gb ghz( thats what I actually have) edition or does that make 0 difference? Either way it seems like the 7770's are going into the wifes computer for now.
