ASUS Announces ROG SWIFT PG278Q Premium Gaming Monitor

I picked mine up from Frys yesterday after work (left early). So far I like it, it did take some getting used to going from a vg236h's gloss finish. Once I properly calibrated the monitor I was satisified and it only took about an hour to get used to the matte finish.

G-Sync is nice, tested it in SC2, Dota 2, CS:GO, MetroLL Redux (absolutely no stutter in the benchmark anymore)... G-Sync is a definate game changer, I just hope nvidia makes it so we can use calibration profiles in full screen soon.

Instant power on is an amazing overlooked feature, the osd menu is the best I've seen as well. I would probably get this monitor even if there was no G-Sync, I tested ULMB in CS:GO and BF3 and actually prefer it over G-Sync in that situation.

When I bought the monitor it was within 30mins of when Frys (Illinois) received them and the first one was already gone, they received 2. They said they are expecting another shipment over the next few days, so I assume this goes for all Frys locations.

What I want to know is, has anyone who has ordered online got a shipment of the monitor yet?

Any site, if it was B&H, PCNation, NE, TD,??
I believe everyone who got in on that initial Newegg Pre-order yesterday (~3:30pm EST) had their monitors shipped last night. CA residents and those who paid for Next Day Air have expected delivery of today, everyone else will be getting them tomorrow or Thursday as the crow flies East. Mine will be arriving on Thursday, wish it was tomorrow just in time for the D3 2.1 patch since I'm off tomorrow :D

My TigerDirect order has a status of:

To Drop Shipper - Your order is being submitted to a third-party warehouse for fulfillment and delivery. You will receive a Shipping Confirmation email once it ships.

Is this par for the course with TD?
This is normal for some items from TD that they don't have in stock in their own warehouses. Generally TD will buy an allocation from the mfg or their distributor, and instead of waiting for it to ship to them first, they will just have it drop-shipped from the distributor directly. This happened when I ordered a GTX 670 from them that they were clearing out, it took 3-4 days longer to process (these distributors aren't set up as well for single orders) but ultimately came pretty quickly once shipped directly from Ingram Micro.

So for anyone who does have an order in TD, I would just let it sit until you secure one from a faster source and have a confirmed shipment, as it could still ship from TD as soon as the dropshipper gets around to it.

False. I ordered the same time yesterday at 3:29 EST and I still haven't had it shipped.

This product launch has been nothing short of a clusterfuck. Here's to hoping Amazon will post up some for sale soon. I imagine they will fly off the shelves too though. Then we can wait another month for the boat to slowly sail over some more..... :)
I would like to snatch one of these up, but if I can't catch one before x99 drops, I'm just going to put this monitor money on a 5960x, then I'll snatch a Swift up when they ever go on sale in the next year.

Sounds like frys got a shitton, nearly everyone who lives near a frys is able to pick one up.

Where is microcenters!?

I'm getting my 5th LCD had 6 today but it's not this ROG thing =)
it's 1080P too so I don't have to worry about Frame Rates =)

The aren't getting a lot from what I can tell. When I saw the inventory screen, each store only got like 2-3 plus a demo. The one I got was actually the display model since they just sold the last boxed one before I got there. I was able to negotiate the price down a bit if I got their extended warranty. The warranty is probably a rip off but considering it's an $800 monitor I'll take my chances since it really wasn't that much more.

Edit/update: Newegg has it listed now, but OOS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236405

How? A new product appeared on several websites on the same day for order/pre-order. It's now out of stock. How is that abnormal or a problem n any way?

Because it's been hap-hazardly appearing on sites randomly for the past week. ASUS is silent on it and doesn't give an actual release date. The biggest retailers like Amazon and Newegg were cluess till yesterday (Amazon still is)..

Lets take bets on how much we'll see these going for on craigslist and ebay.

Thank you very much for that stock number!

The guy on the phone was able to locate it immediately and was surprised I had that number considering it doesn't even come up on Fry's website using that number. They just came off the truck this morning and only had three in stock here in Houston.

I have one on hold in will call but can't decide if I want to pay sales tax or just order it from Newegg when they show up on the site. Decisions.

Glad I could help =)

I got the # from a guy at Overclock.net, so I figured I'd share the wealth.

The plain fact that we never got an actual "release" date is the main reason I consider it a clusterfuck. It's like all Asus gave us was.
"The ROG Swift monitor, is on a boat to the US. You can buy it in two weeks! Other countries are already enjoying it"
Why couldn't they set a US/NA release date and call it a day. Were they afraid these weren't going to sale? Is that the main reason for the super shitty slow boat freight shipping?
For such a "game changing, only one in the world" monitor, I expected a much better release.

Right now it's like wack-a-mole. You might find a site with a few, you might not. Some sites have them for sale, some have them on pre order, some don't even have them at all.

I got one ordered on Newegg as well. Hoping they ship to me before my PCNation order ships so I can cancel. If not, I'll end up with two swifts :)

Looks like newegg has a few to go around still. I grabbed one while I could. I was kind of hoping to miss out on these so I could justify spending the money on a 5960x :D Guess not now....5930k....maybe.....

If you are in the Northern California Bay Area, Fry's has already sold everything they got as of today. Hope this helps someone.

WTF? I was in checkout and soon as I confirmed payment it was removed from my cart.

I can't make it through payment with it still in my cart, and I have a freaking preferred account saved.

Edit: And it's done. Back to auto-notify. I bet that was the first batch gone.

sigh, newegg's still lets you add to cart but then your cart is empty due to insufficient quantity.

What the fuck! I checked out then got an email saying it wasn't in stock so they cancelled it.

Thank you for shopping at Newegg.com!

We regret to inform you that your order could not be completed. While our website may have indicated an in-stock status, one or more items in your order were not in stock at the time your order was to be fulfilled.

Newegg let me put one in my cart, proceed through checkout, then when I hit confirm they did this to me:

Newegg... :'(

you are still loading a cached page, hence the add to cart instead of the auto-notify, at least they told you and didn't complete the order unlike some other retailers TD . Not entirely Newegg's fault. Is anyone else surprised by the low number of initial units available for this monitor.

Ordered one from Newegg when they just went up. I was charged and it was in packaging not 5 minutes later. Sadly I messed up and got eggsaver shipping and didn't have time to go in through my rewards site. Oh well, worth it. Won't be able to use it during the holiday weekend anyway.
