ASUS Announces ROG SWIFT PG278Q Premium Gaming Monitor

I have been watching this monitor and salivating over it every since it was announced at CES back in January... reading these forums posts... as well as the other major one over at overclockers.net... and these last few days been hitting REFRESH I don't know how many times... LOL... FINALLY, I got one order from TD while they were still showing INSTOCK... now, they have changed just in the last few minutes back to PRE-ORDER...

I really really hope it wasn't a snafu on their part and when it was showing as INSTOCK... it truly was IN stock...

Anyways, the wife has heard me plead my case over the past few months... she finally caved in... haha!

Very odd... it is now showing INSTOCK again...

Sadly, you're not going to be able to do that. The monitor only has one input.

Tiger does not have these in stock but they are going to take your order anyways. Be careful and read the fine print!

I called to verify my order after placing it from TD. They assured me it was in stock and I'd get one. Fast forward an hour later and the order info page reads backordered...

actually when i ordered it said in stock, not what your picture says, so apparently they ran out of stock

Same- This is what it used to say for us lucky bastards:

Yes, that is what mine showed when I ordered mine... said In Stock! So, hopefully I got one...

I think I'll end up not getting one of these. This whole release fiasco is just stupid, especially considering that I could get one with dead/stuck pixels and have no replacement in sight. I have two Fry's and two Microcenters relatively (~20m) near me so if I feel like it I may call and ask them or drive over there but... chances are they won't have any anyway. I'll probably just end up missing out on these. ASUS has also really annoyed me with this artificial shortage scenario.

Same. I don't know if I'd call it artificial but I am going to get a second UPS instead of this. Fun...

Me too man......the delay, followed by the slow ass boat shipping, followed by the low inventory of stuck. Wow, could Asus have fucked up this launch any worse! They actually have me NOT wanting to buy this thing now

SO... is this monitor true 8bit panel or 6bit+FRC? Has any respected review site verified this and posted any kind of proof/evidence???

Sorry but I messed up. This buffoon posted pics of his crossovers in the fuckin PG278Q thread. I should have double checked. Anyway you can briefly see in the Linus video running portrait, it looks OK from the very brief shot that you see but its hardly enough evidence for someone to splash out on three. Guess you will have to keep your eyes peeled around the interwebs for people with the same ambitions and deep pockets.

No problem. ;) If Amazon ever gets enough in stock and Nvida releases the updated driver in the PCPER video I might just pick up 3 and try it myself.

picked mine up yesterday, set it up and wow. this screen is complete game changer.

My TigerDirect order has a status of:

To Drop Shipper - Your order is being submitted to a third-party warehouse for fulfillment and delivery. You will receive a Shipping Confirmation email once it ships.

Is this par for the course with TD?

This can be seen as a good thing....could mean it's not being shipped to TD then to you. Cut out the middle man.

I know when I got my monitor through NCIX, NCIX didn't even have any, it was sent directly from their supplier.

It's normal with bussiness.

Company A sells to distrubutors who sell to customers but actual shipment is handled by company B who runs the warehouse.

Rarelly happens with consumer devices as they are too cheap usually.

Has anyone been able to find a page for the Swift on Amazon? All I come up with is the PB278Q, I figured there would be a product page hide somewhere on there by now.

I haven't seen the monitor on either Amazon or NewEgg yet. I'm afraid they will sell out before I can order it :(

I don't live near a Frys and I refuse to order from TigerDirect, so...

What I want to know is, has anyone who has ordered online got a shipment of the monitor yet?

Any site, if it was B&H, PCNation, NE, TD,??

No it's not. I ordered from TD on Saturday and it's been like that since then. I don't think their third part retailer even has them in stock. I cancelled my order.
