NCASE M1: a crowdfunded Mini-ITX case (updates in first post)

Necere:

FYI in my case:

- I did receive an email on 14 July
- I did not receive an email on 4 August

Same here. My brother ordered an M1 ver 2 for me. He received the first email but has not received the second one as of this post.

Would really like an update on the situation.

I didn´t get the 2nd email. I ordered 2 M1 V2 and 2 Top Panels.

well, it's not a RAM problem per se, but there are reviews on Newegg about the ASRock Z87E-ITX motherboard where people have complained about DRAM banks on the motherboard failing or not being able to detect the RAM modules.
It could ofcourse explain the situation but without a second Z87E-ITX to test, it will be difficult to find out. Unless the ones with issues have visual defects.

one of my first RAM modules was DOA, and i have since RMA'd it with Crucial. i tested the two together (a couple of months ago) using Windows's built-in memory diagnostic utility, and it didn't detect any errors. I am now testing them again with memtest86+. weird thing is that the multi-core mode locks up after some time (and also GoldMemory locks up). i'm running memtest86+ in fail-safe mode now, and it hasn't detected any errors yet.
Can you launch it in "normal mode" or just a plain non-multi-core mode ? I searched for the multi-threaded issue and many users have issues with it, so I wouldn't take that as an indication.

i don't have any other PSU. i might buy the 600W SFX one when it comes out, but i don't have any means of using another PSU as of now. i will have to open up the case and disassemble and reassemble everything, and i will make sure the cabling is not the problem.
If you decide to disassemble it, try it OUTSIDE of the case if possible. You can use the foam beneath the motherboard to safely use it outside of the case (it comes with the box), ASUS does it like that: http://www.anandtech.com/show/8201/the-asus-hq-tour-testing-facilities-qvl/2

the other problem (that might or might not be related to the shutdowns) is that when the computer goes to sleep, it will shutdown randomly. sometimes it wakes up with a mouse click or a keyboard press and sometimes it's completely dead.
This could be PSU or motherboard related.

yes, i am considering buying this to test the PSU output voltages, to make sure it's fine (or not).
Don't waste your money on that, these are only good to find out if your PSU has obvious bad wiring. These things don't put any load on your PSU, which is when most issues arise.

ah yes; that's what mine does (it shuts off without any crashes or BSODs), but it doesn't reboot itself afterwards. i have to sometimes reset the CMOS or sometimes unplug it for a while or sometimes hit lightly on the PSU/RAM side of the case, and then it will respond to the power button!
This could indicate a problem with the PSU or the RAM sockets, although I'm not sure the motherboard would shut off the PC when you remove a stick of RAM while powered on.

i might buy the 600W SFX model once it comes out. but people have been running the same hardware as i have on the 450W model with no problem. it's confusing!
Your hardware should run fine with the 450W SFX PSU, unless it's not getting cooled properly. Can you make sure the fan spins properly and that warm or hot air is getting out, without the PSU case being too hot ? You could remove the top panel for a while to see if that does anything.

A bit late to say this, but sometimes I wish the holes of the side panels extend down to the GPU. It'll help with non-reference air cooling.

Yeah I think so too, but I believe Necere commented on that, that it would result in a possibly deformed side panel because of the lack of enough solid surface.

In the end, we can all manage by using common sense and some general advice.

Did you see this in your Paypal "transaction details" page?

I got a mail from NACSE with tracking URL and number; and PayPal was indeed updated as well. Status in PayPal states shipped. Using the tracking URL it states that the parcel shipped with flight TG637 on Friday. Inbound country has not been updated, so I might be a bit too enthusiastic :D. Also it seems the flight landed in Bangkok. I suppose it will continue from their to EU. No further details ...

EDIT: Some additional research, my tracking code is CCXXXXXXXXXTW; which means "postal register air parcel taiwan" (according to Google) and which should take around 10-15 days for my area. Anyone can maybe confirm/add some details based on his experience with the M1V1 :).

The experience with M1V1 was that the EMS tracking at iPost seemed to be accurate for the moment package is loaded onto plane/ship in Taiwan, and again accurate when it reaches customs in destination country. But many people noticed that it didn't always update to warn that package was about to be delivered.

Some countries don't work well with EMS. In the Netherlands we have to ask the Dutch postal service to translate the CCxxxTW code into a local code that we can then get updates once it's entered customs..

Didn't receive the dispatch email, and nothing on the paypal page. I guess they're being dispatched in batches.

From the information email (that only half seemed to have received), Dan wrote:
As for the tracking number:
- TW Air, TW S.A.L and TW Surface tracking should be updated on PayPal
by Friday, Aug 15
- US Economy tracking should be updated on PayPal by Friday, Aug 19

I guess he will post here with an update when he's finished copy pasting the 500 tracking numbers :)

Thanks for the additional details. How long did it take for the M1V1 to arrive?

As a fellow Belgian I can say shipping to Belgium was indeed FAST (within the first weeks of shipping), along with Austria, Denmark, Finland and other EU countries that have a difficult customs situation.

Don't forget to fill in the Google Doc upon receiving the case !
(check that you are on the "V2 buyers" tab at the bottom)

Soon, my V2 pretties, you will join the dark/light side of the Force !

Almost 3 full months from start of production to arrival in the US for me.. felt like forever!

Good timing for the v2 folks, though.. it'll make your summer seem longer ;)

aluminum is not magnetic.

edit: oh I see what you're saying. They come with magnetic strips with double sided tape. You tape it on the aluminum case so the magnetic filter can attach.

Oh... mega-derp from me.

The magnetic strips get attached to the case

I didn't know there was a faster shipping option to the USA. All I saw when I checked out was economy / surface shipping to the USA.

Hey guys.

Been MIA for a while.

I'm working on updating tracking on PayPal as we speak.

just FYI for those that didn't read the first page.

UPDATE 2014-8-11: M1 V2 tracking info for TW Air, TW SAL and TW Surface is being updated on PayPal. Aside from US Economy items, if you don't get your tracking info on PayPal in 7 days, email me at info AT ncases.com

Thx W360!

Received my case a few days ago and haven't had the time to report in until now. The post office lady questioned me why addresses and names were written in English for local mail (I live in Taiwan).

I don't plan to do my build using this case for another year or so, but I did take the case out of the package for inspection. Everything looks good. No wobbly unbalance that was reported by the guy a few pages back. Excellent exterior design, and the case is even smaller than I was expecting. Big thanks to Necere and W360 for putting this project together.

I've never done a mini-ITX build or used an aftermarket CPU cooler before, so I'm a bit curious about whether stock CPU cooler is sufficient for a case this size, assuming I don't plan on overclocking. Granted, it's a bit difficult to predict how hot future CPUs will run, but I would still like your input on this issue.

'Sweet as bro'! That was quick. Come on Aussie

oh man am i squealing right now - hopefully this week, which will be perfect with the SFX 600w for me (which got shipped today!). gunna be a long week at work until im off shifts to build it.

im twichy as man!

Canberra, AUS here, picked up my case and panels from PO this morning. Very excited.
Woohoo :D first reported Aussie sighting

Heck yeah! My SX600 also shipped today. If it all comes this week it will be the first time in the history of anything where Australian consumers got something before the USA :D *pride*

Now my only problem is I don't know how to build a computer anymore, but all those packages will sure look pretty

Hello,

I had just came home (Singapore), and found out i received my M1 V2. I do not intend to assemble her up anytime soon due to work, but here are the unboxing pics to share:

- The build quality materials are outstanding. I'm impressed with the thoughtfulness of the fine details, such as nice power-on buttons and many more.

- The is the only case out there, which features: +mini-ITX +full-body AL +slot loading + 240mm radiator + long graphics card +minimalistic design.-

- The Silver finishing, looks and feels.... Perfect. Thank you Necere and W360.

OH MY LAWD!

why did I get to know bout this only yesterday?
Damn I sure am late, will it have another production run?
a 2nd Ncase M2 V1 por M1 V3 indiegogo campaign?

Love to be able to have this!

Congrats to the main two guys and the members who copped one.

@jcagara
They bought some extras when they did the order, I think, so if you message W360 you might be able to buy one still.

No guarantee though.

Nope, no new news and still no product page. Tony posted this yesterday..

Welp, at least we know it's still a thing!

Thanks for finding that info. :)

I'm almost hoping mine are one of the last sent and that it takes a while to arrive. Regret paying for express shipping. The parts I want to put in it aren't even out yet so it will just be a decorative piece until sometime in September if I am lucky.

dont worry, i have v1 and still havent built it out. waiting for blackfriday deals.

Same. Holding out since I really don't need it right now.

I have two V1 cases unused. New atx build has taken precedence over the mitx units at the moment. Dual 290x GPUs and a 4790k running a 3440x1440 monitor. :D

So I just got my V2, (Canada, ON here) and everything is great except mine seems to have a really bad wobble, I'm assuming the feet are of different height. Anyone else have this problem?
