[Rumor] Steam Summer Sale starts on 19th and lasts 8 days?

First time ever not making a purchase during a steam sale.... I finally noticed I have this thing called a backlog, and it hasn't shrunk much. I keep buying games on steam sales that I never actually get around to playing. Need to stop doing that lol

tell me about it lol

I keep telling myself that I need to stop, but it's hard to pass on a good deal. Between the steam sales, humble bundles and gifting, it's getting difficult to manage my library anymore (or worse, decide what I want to play when I have the time to actually play games). I ended up buying a few games during this sale just because the deals were too good to pass up and have been interested in getting, but most will likely never get played.

Making a resolution to go through my entire catalog and finish each game before buying anymore.

[EDIT] Valve REALLY needs to make library management more robust and accessible. The current system is sort of a joke

Agree completely. I actually went through and alphabetized my library and made a category for each letter. Now I can expand a letter and only be looking at 20 or so items.

Anyone else here tried Enhanced Steam ? Good stuff. One of the reasons the sales may seem "lackluster" is because you may already own everything. Enchanced Steam shows you at a glance which of the things on sale for a given day you already own. For me, it was at least half.

I bought a decent amount, tho I try and limit myself to $10 or less per day. I did splurge on thursday or friday and picked up a few things, but the most expensive was ACIV Black Flag for $20

I agree with your last point. This is an area where Origin actually shines when compared to Steam, in my opinion. I love how you can go to a non-store page that shows information for a game you own that also shows all the DLC available for it and what DLC you already own. It's a pain in the ass to track your DLC in Steam when you want to purchase more. Going back and forth between store pages is a nightmare.

My problem with my backlog is I like to hover between games. I think this habit has shortened my attention span to the point that I don't care. What I need to do is focus on one game at a time and not move on until that one game is finished. It's going to be hard, but I think what I'm going to do is start fresh by uninstalling every game I currently have on my hard drive. Then I'm going to simply go down my list of games in alphabetical order one at a time. Then maybe my back log will be clear in 2-3 years... on the condition I don't buy anything else in that time.:D

Only thing I bought was Borderlands 2. I have a few extra copies if someone wants them ($5, what I paid).

I tried it on a free weekend a while back and did not like it too much, although I did get into it slightly. So I figured I would just buy it. Hopefully my game progress was saved from the free weekend.
