[Rumor] Steam Summer Sale starts on 19th and lasts 8 days?

What's the rule for picking up games that don't end up daily deals? As I recall, on the last day, everything other than the daily deals goes back to normal price. So does that mean pick them up before 10AM PDT on the 29th?

I can see your point but with this being a story based game, unlike something like batman where you get more skins, the whole story isn't released and there's no guarantee it will be. Telltale is not a trustworthy company.

In it's current state, there isn't a complete game, it just happens to be missing the "early access" label.

Yeah, you have no idea what you're talking about.

Has anyone picked up Nether for $2.99? I'm reading conflicting reviews on it and am wondering if anyone here has tried it.

You clearly have no clue what you're talking about.

Well, you know what they say about people who only whip out insults in discussions...

Last I heard, it had some pretty shady ties to an even shadier WarZ (or whatever the hell they changed the game's name to)

How much of a guarantee do you need? They've released several full sets of episodic games. Monkey Island, Sam and Max, and now they're onto new ones. They haven't burned anyone yet to my knowledge, and it appears that people are quite happy with their games. How are they not a trustworthy company again? This makes no sense.

Maybe you're not into episodic content, but then that's not a trust issue with the company. That's your preference. The company has been around for quite a while, has released multiple quality games on multiple platforms. I think they're just fine.

I don't know. I kept hearing the same thing then the group saying it said that Nether has optional in game purchases like War-Z. So then they got quiet, but every so often someone repeats it. I don't know if the rumor is true or not. At any rate when the game was in Beta I was excited to get it but never did. Now I don't have interest as I can just play a ARMA III mod and be happy.

Not really insulting, but why don't you think Telltale would finish it? They've released several games by chapters (Sam and Max and Tales of Monkey Island to name two), so I don't see why they wouldn't finish Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead Season 2 (considering they already finished Season 1). Early Access means the game is in Alpha\Beta. The serial chapters that Telltale releases, while not a complete story, are fully polished and playable games that just don't have a final ending until the last part of the serial is released. I could see arguing that it's best to wait until the whole thing is released to make sure the story is good, but that's hardly the same thing as Early Access.

At any rate, I picked up both Wolf Among Us and The Walking Dead Season 2 on sale, which is great since I was waiting for them. :D

saints row IV: go ahead and get the ultimate pack if you love the series. I just have the main one and enjoyed it. With 23 DLC packs it seems like they have gone overboard.

Looks like it's finally time to buy Saints Row 4!!! It's 75% off all SR games and DLC today; now I just need to figure out which way to buy all of it. If anyone can shed some more light on these options, I would appreciate it.

SR4 main game = $9.99
Buy All DLC = $19.76, for a total of $29.75

Or I can buy this Saints Row Ultimate Franchise Pack for $18.74 and save $10. I already have SR2/3 so there will be a lot of duplicate items in there, but if I won't be missing anything from SR4 I'll just pick up the big pack to save money.

Anyone know what the deal is with that Ultimate Franchise pack? Will I really get everything that goes with SR4 or will I be missing stuff?

From the package info - you get all the saints row 4 addons, and the complete saints row 3, and 2. Most of those addon are clothes and guns, but make it fun.

I would suggest starting at SR3 and easing it into it. So much fun..

If a game never goes on a Daily Deal, Flash Sale or Community Choice Sale then the more generic discount (which is applied throughout the sale) is the cheapest it will be for that particular Steam sale. So you can pick it up between 2am - 10am PDT on the last day (June 30th not 29th. Sale will end on June 30th 10am with only the previous daily deals, likely the encore deals, rolling over for another 24 hours) before it's over.

Anyone think watch dogs will go on sale for anything significant?

Doubtful, it was just released. If it does, you'd see at best 10-25% off MSRP but I don't think Ubi would do it. I think GMG might have a coupon useable for WD for 25% off but I deleted the email already.

So far I have picked up ...

Sins of a Solar Empire : Rebellion
The Wolf Among Us
FTL : Advanced Edition
Gone Home

Very happy with all the sale prices on these, and I'm holding out for Starbound.

Starbound is meh. If you like the dollhouse / building structures aspect of Terraria then you'll like it... but the gameplay so far is the same thing over and over with a bunch of different tilesets ( that all behave the same).

I want to pick up sonic all stars racing for cheap, hope it hits 75% off sometime this week.

This may have changed and maybe you don't care, but if I remember correctly, (as asinine as it is,) it didn't have game pad support. I got it for my daughter, and at least at that time, it didn't. (this was some time ago though)

Edit: Looks like the new "Transformed" version has full controller support. The old one appears to still not have it.

All the LEGO games went on sale except the Star Wars Complete Saga... I'm guessing we need to wait for a Star Wars sale for that one. That and The Clone Wars are the only LEGO games on Steam that I'm missing :(.

I'm just buying random things at this point. I've never been intrigued by so many titles on any Steam Sale ever....

Sanctum 2, Lego Harry potter, Brothers, FTL, Rogue Legacy, RAGE, Bulletstorm, Brutal Legend, Game Dev Tycoon, Don't Starve, Amnesia bundle,

aghhhh what am i doing. My buddy and me played Sanctum 2 for like 4 hours straight. So fun. I then proceeded to play Game Dev Tycoon for about 6 hours straight. This is NOT how I wanted to spend my vacation staring at a monitor. Grrr

Sounds like you're doing it right. You picked some good ones there. (just pretend you didn't get all of them until after your vacation) hehehe

FTL is very fun. People will tell you otherwise, but RAGE is a blast. Don't Starve and Amnesia also cool.

I know the feeling. I'm just blowing money now at this point, buying games i've always kind of been interested in, but never wanted to buy or pirate.

dark souls, and darksiders bundle, i'm looking at you. Also ALL the lego games (because they're awesome)

question, shadow warrior worth it?

I think I'm the odd man out, but I couldn't get into Metro at all. Felt like every other generic high budget FPS game. I only have 2033 though.

Guys, buy Brothers! It was my person GOTY on all platforms last year.

Probably heard this before but it takes a bit for the story to pick up. Once it really dawns on you whats at stake and how many lives are being lost in the process it's really gripping.

Is it worth it buying Metro (2033 and Last Light) when the redux versions are coming out so soon?

absolutely no...if you don't own them already then the best decision is to wait for the remastered versions

This is the best game i've picked up of the sale so far.
http://store.steampowered.com/app/249680/

It's actually pretty fun and doesn't take it self seriously.

Marlow Briggs is a really fun game for only $1. :)

Okay, in for a buck! Puts me at $23 for the sale, before the $1.75 I made selling that foil card...

So far this sale:
  • Marlow Briggs
  • Fallout 3 GOTY (How'd I get New Vegas but not this?)
  • Titan Quest Gold
  • Sleeping Dogs
  • FF VII
  • Hitman:Absolution Elite Edition
And then, thanks to /r/game deals, Age of Empires + Forgotten Expansion off Amazon for $2.49 instead of the $5 Steam Flash Sale for AoE alone...

absolutely no...if you don't own them already then the best decision is to wait for the remastered versions

If you own the originals though you get 50% off the redux bundle.

So:

Metro Last Light: $6.79
Metro 2033: $2.99
Metro Redux Bundle @ 50% off: $25.00
Total: $34.78

VS.

Buying Metro Redux Bundle without owning originals: $50

My buddy sold his card collection for almost $15 and used it to finance ARMA III. He's still on cloud nine after experiencing the Steam Life. Anyone have a picture to go with this quote so i can text him and make his day?

:)

Dude, Age of Wonders 3 is awesome. I've been hankering for some HoMM style turn based action bad lately. This sucks for me because I will in no way, give money to Ubisoft. Found this and I couldn't be happier. If you are a fan of HoMM and to a lesser extent Civ, then you should try this one. Oh and one more thing :

FUCK UBISOFT

:D

I learned early on after they started these big seasonal sales to wait for the featured sales due to things like that. Also, when one game in a series or from a publisher is featured during a day, that also means every other game in the series or publisher is also on sale. Picked up the first GRID when I saw GRID 2 was on sale .
