Mario Kart 8 - Amazon Sell Out

...and last night I was playing Bowser in the little bug-looking pod and was knocking people all over the course. Weird.

Finally got some multiplayer in last night after a few drinks. :D That was ridiculous fun! I don't think I've enjoyed an MK game this much since MK64!

IMO, there isn't really a trick to getting 3 stars so much as getting a little bit of luck to go your way.
Sometimes I'll win every race in a cup by a mile even when I'm sloppy as hell. At the same time, sometimes I'll run the best race of my life (per the clock) and eat a blue shell in the final corner only to finish in 3rd. There's not really anything you can do about that. Knowing the track shortcuts and decent routes does help, though. Any race where you can take a route that protects you from random green and red shells - DO IT.

When I get in first, second I get a sound box pickup I hang onto it for dear life, only thing I know of that can stop a blue shell.

Ditto. In this one I think it is...assuming you ever get one. Half the time I just keep getting coins long after I've gotten to 10. At least give me a banana or shell to protect from stray red shells.
I believe I've unlocked all of the coin-based vehicle items, so I couldn't care less about more coins once I hit 10.

Hey Guys,
I love to Play Mario Kart Now I want to Play Mario Kart 8. I got to the Amazon store and discover that it is Sold Out. Now tell me where I buy this game.

Surely Amazon isn't the only retailer in the world for games. You could walk or drive to a store. Why wait for shipping? Then, there's eShop.

Glitch were you don't need to hold down the gas pedal button :

Soon as you click load game and see the Mario Kart start screen hold down on your right analog stick until you hear Mario's voice then let go. Once in single player or multiplayer your gas pedal will always be held down, in order to avoid a spin out you can press reverse to stop your tires from spinning then let go at right time to boost off the line. This will continue to work unless your controller gets unsynced or your close game from Wii menu or turn off system. I tested it multiple time with my Wii pro controller worked every time so the only button I was using was drift. I found this out by accident when I was playing with controller while game loaded up.

its not really a glitch its how the hardware works. When you load the game it calibrates the joystick based on its current position as the center. If you hold it down, you are telling the wii u that down is the center so when it goes to its normal position, it thinks that is up.

Neat find though and I will probably use it

I can't stop playing this game. I love the new tracks, Mount Wario is so much fun, they need more point to point tracks.
I want Nintendo to make DLC. 6 new Tracks and a real battle mode. Come on.
Do a Super Luigi type thing.

Really enjoying this game too, a little miffed that my 9 year old constantly skunks me at it, though!

Luigikart 8 DLC package? (in the vein of new super luigi)

Even though the game is really frustrating at times, I'm still enjoying it. While it's a little bit lame, I find myself enjoying the games with only 5-6 people the most. In a full game there's just too much chaos. Half the time you get hit once and that's immediately followed by an additional 2-3 hits and you go from first to 12th instantly. It isn't even about racing so much as either starting off quickly or just geting lucky.
While I hate to do it, I've given up on using the larger characters. There just don't seem to be enough advantages to justify their slow startup time after getting hit. Maybe in local multiplayer it's different, but with online I'm enjoying Toad with either the standard kart or the "prancer."

I'm a big Wario fan in Mario Kart so I always pick him regardless. He also looks the best to me, LOL :D

I've always used Toad. Everyone else always fought for Yoshi!

Same here, I have no fights when people choose who they want (Lemmy or Yoshi or Luigi) I always choose and get Toad.

Wario's also my fave, although because you couldn't mirror match in the old games I ended up using Bowser most of the time. One of my friends always claimed Wario first.
The physics in this game just don't favor the big guys...at least not in the carts. I still kinda hate the bikes after MK Wii, so I haven't played with them much. They still felt like auto pilot in the first few minutes I played with 'em.

Yeah you definitely need to go with Bikes (IMO) if you use the big guys.. the handling is just so much better with them compared to the larger karts.. at least that has been my experience.

It took a while to get used to, but now I feel a bit comfortable with using Wario.. haven't played online with other people though.. still training away in single player with my gf, heh.

The big guys are great if you can get out in front, then build up some distance so blue shell recovery is possible. In the top speed cart+10 coins, they are insanely fast. In n64 I played Wario just cuz, Mk wii I did dry bones/troopa, now back to Wario :D

I was interested in this game until I found out that there is no Classic Arena Battle Mode.

Yar, really surprised they shipped it without a arena-style map. I imagine they'll introduce maps later on, but still really surprising.

Game itself is still terrific, though.

I could never get into the battle modes. I'd play them a bit, and while kind of fun, they never held my attention long. They do have some potential with this version (and this system) to where they could build some really cool arenas. That might change my mind about it this time around. However, at the moment, it's no big loss for me. I do realize that a lot of people really like battle mode though.

Woohoo - Birdo is back! I'll definitely be rocking him in the pink Prancer with button wheels.

I was never a huge fan of Battle Mode, at least past the original game. It worked pretty well in that one thanks to the way the walls worked. Ever since it's been hit or miss. We used to play it a little on the N64, but it was always either Big Donut or Block Fort...and it was rare that anyone truly cared who won.
I've found it to be pretty lousy or at least not fun in subsequent games.

I could see it being fun if they had arenas with various gravitational pulls (so you could hover up walls, etc.) Maybe some spiraling roads through the middle out to the walls/ceiling, or some other interesting things. Maybe parts of the arena shift over time where you can get stuck on it until it lines up with the floor again, or things like that. Battle mode with a moving obstacle arena or something of the sort. They could be pretty elaborate these days.

2-4 player arena battle mode was insanely fun. I really don't get why they didn't add it to this game when they did everything else right. Adding a time limit seems horrible.

Ah well, like others have said, maybe it will get added down the road.

Yes, truly the only downside of this game.
Just port the DS maps and I'll be happy, but give..something. Battle mode sucks.

how do you get stars for each cup?

I haven't played MK since the original on SNES, I'm loving this game.
