Nexus 7 16gb (2nd gen) refurb - $139

Oh that is tempting. But 16GB. Hmm. I really don't need this, lol.

Damn, so tempting. I finally broke my gen1 Nexus7 after dropping it for the 20th time, so I need a replacement, but the Nexus 8 is right around the corner. Decisions, decisions.

Very good price on this in any case.

Broke the screen on my Nexus 7 a month after I bought it, been meaning to get a replacement as soon as I can find one cheap. This costs about as much as replacing the screen on my other one would have.

Tempting... but I'm not sure if I want to pony up more for an Ipad Mini or nexus 8

If Nexus 8 has a thinner bezel then N8. That was my biggest complaint about N7.

If you get the Nexus 7 make sure to get a protective case, I highly recommend the BobjGear Rugged Molded Case. I've had the Nexus 7 and that case for over a year now, and it has saved it from damage via dropping several times. Rugged indeed. The simplest cases are usually best. It also improves the volume and general sound projection and makes the tablet much easier/more comfortable to hold.

I'd go the other direction; Why get a case? A phone is used much more in more active settings; out and about. Most peoples use of a tablet is around the house; while sitting on the couch/in bed; where dropping and breaking are much less likely.

*edit* unless children will be playing with it consistently.. :)

I don't understand why so few tablets come with SIM cards... ugh. Not everyone's plan allows for tethering from a cellphone, and you can get 200mb free a month which is plenty for GPS navigation and looking prices up and what not in stores with your tablet.

Lame.

Well you can get a LTE model Nexus 7.. at an additional cost. This sale just happens to be for the WiFi-only model, which I'd rather have and am glad they have the option rather than having to pay extra for something I don't need or want.

You mean in stores where you also have your cell phone handy? :p

Though I agree it would be cool if tablets came with cell radios as a standard feature. The current trend if cell enable devices costing $75+ more sucks. Almost as bad as charging $100 for 16GB of storage...

I just can't browse the web for crap on those tiny iPhone size screens, just doesn't work for me. Plus right now I'm on a crappy Blackberry Q10, which has a 3" screen. To navigate that is virtually impossible.

In my car I have a magnet mount for a tablet that just snaps into place, and I use it as my GPS and when looking up restaurants and also for managing my music in the car (nice big screen, huge play pause buttons, and swiping left-right for tracks, up down for playlists). Easy when I'm jumping out of the car to grab it and bring it in the store.... but you can't always rely on wifi, plus its a pain to have to connect to it.

I guess I should have said there are no DEALS on 4G tablets. They are usually super spensive.

I bought a gently used 2013 nexus 7 on ebay for about $130 and have been very happy with it, great little tablet (I wish stock android had knock on like my G2)

It is a Gen 1. You can tell by the 1280 x 800 resolution and 1GB of ram.

Edit2: At $189 this really isn't a hot deal... Maybe warm at best. A new 16gb Nexus 7 can be had for 30-40 bucks more.

When I posted this the Nexus 7 was only $139, which was a pretty hot deal, now not so much :(. Maybe even a dead deal.
