Have most of my components, looking for case.

So, I have these components -
i7-4770k
Maximus VI Impact
8gb Wonder Ram
MSI 780
XFX 650w ATX PSU
And one of these 3 coolers - Phanteks TP14, generic version of h50, and an h100.

I understand the PSU would have to be replaced in most situations. I'm looking for a small case, the smallest that fits the gpu the better, while still being semi budget conscious.

I've looked at the 250d, could use ALL of my current components, but its quite a bit larger than alternatives.

I've also looked at the hadron air - but I'd need a new cooler, a hadron hydro - but again its getting a little large.

I've looked at an sg05, but I'd have to mod it AND buy a new psu.

So, [H]'ers, what do you think?

I have one for another build, but I would still need a new PSU, mine is too long.

Do you not have a current case? How about the Cooler Master Elite 130? You'll have to drop down to the H50 I think, but it's relatively small, cheap, and you get to keep everything.

Which psu would you recommend?
Take a look at the Silverstone SFF power supplies.

The current 450w v.2 is said to be quiet enough by most owners. There will be two new 'semi-fanless' Silverstone power supplies to be released eventually. One is SFX 600w and one is SFX-L 500w.

I'd get a modular version, too, so one doesn't have to use more cables than you need. The latter two psu choices already have the flat modular cables which is good. Too bad Silverstone isn't shipping the 450W with those now, however. It's an additional $25, at least.

I wouldn't go to a SFF (mini-itx?) case without a SFF PSU. The ATX power supplies are sometimes quite long and just makes things a hassle. Use the current ATX PSU for a 2nd build or sell it. The only other thing to do which means evaluating an even smaller selection of cases is looking for mini-itx cases that fit ATX power supplies. Other than that, it would require modding.

Yeah, I agree, and I would LOVE to get the 600w one, but SS has been extremely tight lipped about an actual release date or pricing. I am thinking of just grabbing the cm 130 for now, when the 600w comes out, get it and an sg05/08.

All of which are cases I'd be interested in, given my opening line of "smallest that fits the gpu".

The NCASE M1 fits the bill as the smallest case that will fit your GPU. You're going to have to get a new SFX PSU and it's not exactly budget friendly though.

which is bigger and costs twice (w/ psu) than the sg08 with the included psu.

hey, ZrRock, sherlock, we're back at post number 5 now :p

It would indeed look like we have come full circle! Now, the question is would it be better to just use the PSU that comes with it, or get the Lite and buy a separate PSU :p.

There is $100 difference between the regular and lite right now.

Edit: Also, what cooler to put in! So many decisions!

that silverstone PSU isnt bad and it was custom designed for that case, i would get with the PSU and call it done.

cooler is up to you. keep in mind that case has a 180mm fan blowing directly towards the motherboard.

The cheapest option as it would accomodate all you current components is cooler master 130 elite.

I have one and although not the pretiest case it does the job,and its relatively cheap.

My components are; asrock z77 itx, 3770k, 16gb Ballistix sport VLP ,MSI lightning 770 gtx, Antec earthwatts platinum psu 650 watts

The SG08 is perhaps a nicer case but the bundled psu is nothing brilliant to write home about and expensive.

Regarding psu, unless you plan to use a dual gpu card, or overclock both the gpu and cpu as far as they will go and if you do you will need good cooling, something not easy to achieve in a mini ITX case, I dont see need for a psu bigger than 450 watts, I also have Nexus 430w compact ATX psu (only 125 mm deep!!) and my system runs perfectly and is almost as quiet as my platinum psu. In hindsight I should have bought the 450 watts platinum psu.

You should also consider, undervolting as a usefull tool, my cpu is currently at stock speed but undervolted due to the crappy I3 stock cooler I am using, untill I sort out the water cooling, and runs with -.230mv offset, that means full load at 1v, and idle at 0.840v on my chip, Nvidia currently have very limited the voltage adjustment to their gpu as a result and althought you can overclock the cards the increase in power consumption wont be very big.

Just my thoughts on the matter.
