Heh, got a Goldwrap to drop and completed my amusing trifecta of Gladiator Gauntlets + Goldskin + Goldwrap (Custerian Wristguards for flavor), leading to ridiculousness like this :D:

Have had a stone of jordan with fire on it for awhile but it was unused. Swapped my nat's ring for it. Played around with gear and made a new cost/cost reduction set with crimsom (belt + pants), nat's (bow + boots), auglid's (helm and shoulder) that on paper did 1.178 mil dps + 75% fire + 41% elite damage + 15% entangle + 12% cluster. Result is a damage monster build that let me walk into t6 solo forgetting that I was in t6 and melted elite packs while maintaining my original damage numbers from my original build.

I then promptly died in T4 because of my bonus pool max curse that states if I am to max out the pool, I will die a horrible horrible pathetic death. By laser. and 4 elites, and vortex into everything.

I then lamented my terrible loss by opening a chest and getting a calamity. So my build just got stronger.

I've been using the Sentry's a lot with my DH. I drop down 5 of them and just run around while they kill everything. My build is still not that strong for a lvl70 though.

I tried taking advantage of the sentry bonus on that quiver and.. I just couldn't. The thing that kills it is the cooldown on laying sentries. By the time you lay 2-3 sentries any other build would have already cleared the screen.

There's already a hatred cost on the sentries, the CD is needlessly restrictive.

You'd definitely want some CDR to make a build like that tick, but at 6 seconds per sentry it definitely feels clunky. Getting that CD down to 3-4 seconds would likely feel much better; using Piranhas and Grasp of the Dead on my WD was much more fluid at 4-5 seconds instead of the default 8 seconds (additionally, Grave Injustice just made it ridiculous).

I've been struggling to find a DH build that I like but maybe a sentry build would be good, or even Sentry+Fan of Knives.

DH just overall feels really lackluster, they need to do a serious skill overhaul on the DH, all the moves just don't seem like they fit in.

I sometimes like playing with the "pet + sentries" build but I agree that without significant cool down time reduction, trying to lay out 4-5 sentries seems kinda lackluster. With just 2 sentries I can clear most mobs and e packs in a reasonable amount of time. On t5, t6, its not that viable a build for me.

For T5, T6 survivability for saders I was playing around with Akarat - Prophet and the Indestructable passive and it was working really well. I just need a better form of wrath generation. Should I just stick with a primary skill? I'm using shield glare and provoke as my main wrath generators. I usually use embodiment of power for the wrath regenerate but prophet definitely increases survivability a lot.

I can drop 1 every 3-4 seconds, I can have 5 down before the first one expires, but I just run in circles dropping caltrops and sentry's.

I did play around with Resists last night, swapping gear that has a lot of resist to all and it made my DH noticeably more durable, can walk on fire and poison and not lose any life, but it takes longer to kill stuff going from 480K damage to 237K.
With the 480K build, 2 good hits back to back and I'd be dead.
480K build had 350K life and 2 million toughness, 2 hits I'd be dead.
237K build has 175K life and 3 million toughness, I can just stand around taking a beating and I am fine.

My CDR set has 16 mil toughness.
My "Pentries" build has 16 mil toughness.
My tank gear is 27 mil toughness.

The CDR and Pentries builds are far far apart damage wise, and just as bad toughness wise. I can take a solid 3-5 hits in T6 with the CDR set but the Pentries are dead in 2. The tank gear gets me 10 hits, but 1/2 the damage of the CDR set.

Save for near perfect rolls of some gear items, I'm stuck now with the DH. I may try to roll a perfect Auglid's bracer to bring my tank gear damage up but I'm sticking now to just having fun and hoping to roll some good sader and monk gear.

I grouped with a guy running it and it was hilarious and pretty effective.

It's pretty crappy in high torment. Many crusaders say blessed shield build with Gyrfalcon Foote and Jekangbord tops out at torment 4. I have a 2350 Gyrfalcon and decent Jekangbord. I tried t4. It was so slow compared to my firesader build or holy shotgun. I often run crusaders through t4, sometimes t5 in rifts. Anytime a shield thrower joins the game, the clear times increase. They're a third leg in high torment.

These days if I run crusader rifts, I will ask no shield thrower to join because of the slow down. Why? Well when clear times increase, I might as well solo at that point. I can clear t4 solo in 10 minutes in firesader. Probably faster in holy shotgun.

Just my 2 cents.

Believe me, I'm still trying to make the build effective in high torment. I've tried holy shield throwing and fire shield throwing. Both garbage if you ask me. I have full Akkhan set, holy skills gear, Cindercoat, fire skills gear, etc.

I like my firesader build as well. I'm only geared to go as high as T4. Running 3 pieces of demon set which seems to be pointless, but I had the materials. I've been trying to find a happy medium between builds that are fun to play and builds that are effective. Getting somewhat bored of my disintegrate wizard, because it's all hold right click and call it a day. Really hammered that home by building a second wizard around the piercing ice beam.... it's so similar and yet worse. Now transitioned to a highly ineffective lightning/ice combo, that is more fun. Mostly because I have a Vaxo with cold on it, but need lightning to proc the vaxo... luckily I found the ring that adds stun chance with lightning (so you don't need to run that passive). Combined with Mykens and the extra lightning bounce helm it makes a fine primary. Just wish there was a good lightning damage dealer, the tornado is too random, and the 2 hander to make it straight line kills the build.

Thanks for the input. I will focus on staying fire then.

The thing with Blessed Shield throw in torment 4 or higher is that it's so much more ineffective. Frankly, it's also quite boring. Where it shines in torment 1 - 3, you just right click and prosper. In high torment, it's both boring and ineffective.

I'm having the same issue now with firesader since it's so much profit. I rarely ever run out of wrath unless I'm not paying attention. I don't even need to run a generator skill. It's getting boring now too. Right now, I'm playing holy shotgun for the first time. It's more fun because I actually have to watch my wrath. That alone presents its own sort of mini game. I'm also having to position to make the most out of each blast of the holy shotgun.

I want to make Blessed Shield viable in high torment if only because the flail looks the coolest to me.

Yeah, I've been playing Holy Shotgun for the past few weeks and it's definitely fun, but the wrath generation is the hardest part to keep up. I've been testing more survivability builds and they work great but they do kill slower. I guess that's the trade off.

Surviving is fine for me since I run Prophet rune. My FotF has 3.7 wrath regen. I can do without using Embodiment of Power rune. I only have 48.something percent CDR outside of Akkhan, so I do have a few seconds of downtime though.

Yup, I've been testing Prophet out and survivability is INSANE with that. I couple it with indestructable and you're in for taking a lot of dmg, so awesome. Wish my FotF gave some wrath regen, that would be sick.

Same

I am getting to a point where I deal "okay" damage in T4 but can take a lot of hits (minus arcane damage, le sigh), but when I get low, run prophet for rune and I can take A LOT and than zero out and start again.

Did you post your battle.net? I'd like to see your tank gear setup.

If I stack DH toughness I get over 16 million, but the damage plummets. That's with Boar but not a Sentry field or other runes like Evasive Fire - Hardened.

I still want a high damage gear set.

Battle.net only and diabloprogress displays what I'm currently using, which is my cdr reduction set. It's not all out 100% dedicated to cdr but, it has 15% + my paragon which gives me 25% cooldown and 48% reduction in cost. http://www.diabloprogress.com/player/slade-1404

The tank set is essentially Aughlid's helm + bracer, Ashera's shoulders + boots, Capt crimsom's pants + belt, cindercoat, magefist, royal ring of grandeur, nat's ring, nat's slayer and calamity. I have a ton of all resist on each gear piece - the rings, vit etc. This adds up to 1930 all resist/10k armor with boar + paragon and 617k hp. Fire damage is only 38% and calamity's 20% boost along with 1.1 mil in game dps. So it's essentially 1/2 the damage of my current gear but 10 mil more toughness. In a t5/t6 setting the tank gear wins out since I'm not the primary damage dealer but I contribute decent damage and "buff" the party by marking everything for death. (paragon of even 1 point in area damage essentially adds splash damage which lets even regular shots trigger calamity's effect with 20 yard splash damage)

What's the most dps on a weapon? I picked up one last night that has 3003 dps. Only bad thing is no socket. :(

i'll give that a try. I don't have much supplies or money since I haven't played in over a year so I think I can only roll 2 times with a legendary item.

No one's been stockpiling materials for a year. All the mats you would use are new to the expansion.

So now that I finally got a decent moonlight ward, I'm solo T4 capable. Things die quick enough, but the occasional bad combo pack could get me. I also cant nemesis bracers every shrine anymore, only sheilding and conduit. I'm still very much liking archon.

I've been Rifting it Forward as a T4 runner, been getting good shards. Any half-decent WoW could make me go full fire (already have 115 fire/45elite set waiting for a new weapons).

I finally got a mask of jeram, finally. Generally I'm one of those guys who gets so bad luck with drops in games like this. I'm at paragon 200 and have one of each at 70, but WD is most played. The 85% combined with the tall mans finger is just silly. I mean, I'm not geared out like most of you, so my 600k dps is pretty low. I typically crit with firebomb for like between 2 and 6 million, but the single dog with the jerams is doing like 30 - 45 million crits. I'm thinking of dropping the gargantuan and picking up the little fetishes and see how their damage looks...

Found a Gryf flail last night and tried out blessed shield for fun.. and it is definitely really weak in T6 haha. I also equipped a jekangbord too.

I never get set items on my main character (monk). But i ended up getting a piece of Vyr's on my crusader, and started playing my Wizard again. Ended up getting the whole set, + Tal's belt, and Firebird Shoulders.... All i two days.

I want Inna's set.

If you are using Mask of Jeram, you want Fetish Sycophants and a good spell for summoning them to really get value from it.

This is where the balance of items is really messed up. WD's running with MoJ are running around doing double to triple the damage of similarly geared other class toons. Pop in that helm and all of a sudden they have crits from 10 mil to crits to 30 to 40 mil. I know some people that have been soloing T6 because they are capable of dishing the damage and are literal glass canons making them useless as soon as a major mob comes in. (They inch forward in game ensuring the enemies are met with pets only). This also means they tend to shy away from group games because of the synergy imbalance. It makes DH glass canons look like a joke.

My WD is killing it in T6 no problem, but I do have capable T6 chars like my leap barb, and shotgun sader.

My monk can solo T6 malth pretty easily too :p.

WD is far and beyond the easiest class to use to blast through higher torments though.
