Watch Dogs

i suggest you learn to read because nothing you just typed would lead anyone to believe that you actually can.

Resorting to ad hominem attacks doesn't make your argument any stronger. Only suggestion I can give you is to read the forum rules regarding insulting other users.

there is no argument. the ONLY problem the game has with input is that it's delayed. that's it. there is no smoothing and there is no acceleration. no where in my comment did i say that smoothing is worse than acceleration, let alone compare the two. your use of the word pedantic doesn't even make sense because acceleration and smoothing are two completely different things. the creator of that thread is a moron who is suffering from a severe case of placebo. i'm not attacking you when i tell you to learn to read, i am giving you a suggestion, a valuable one, that you should take, because it is clear that your communication and comprehension skills are severely lacking to the point where it's not possible to have a proper conversation with you.

I wish I could make sense of this game.
Maybe I'm trying too hard.

what on earth? that doesn't look like max settings at all, but even so how is the framerate so high? even if i set everything to low with my 2500k @ 4.5 GHz and 770 it doesn't go that high. did they change the renderer or something?

It's disappointing the game has so many rough edges. Why is it that so few developers genuinely care for craftsmanship these days?

Well I don't want to put myself into the line of fire but I am without a doubt having issues with mouse acceleration.

Precise, slow movements barely move the crosshair. If I move at normal speed, it starts flying across the screen. It's textbook acceleration. And yes it's also very floaty.
I've tried all the XML edits as well and it changed nothing. At this point shooting with a GAMEPAD would be more accurate. I literally cannot. shoot. anything.

Maybe some people here need to play more twitch shooters so they can get a feel for their mouse...
Just kidding.

That's not the case at all. The problem is how complex and time consuming game development is. You could spend 8 years in beta if you refused to release a game without any bugs.

Look bud, clearly you think you are being clever by explaining away why you think it is okay to tell another adult on an internet forum that they should learn to read, it only serves to demonstrate how juvenile you really are. Anyway, happy for you to keep making asshole posts, I will just keep reporting them.

are you using the markc mousefix?

I define craftsmanship as "caring for one's craft", not as "no bugs", the latter being impossible in any reasonably large codebase. For $60, my expectations are for high-quality software, not for perfection.

I hear ya, but at the same time I've seen the other side of it too. It's not like these guys plot to put out a total piece of junk. Usually it's a result of management forcing tight budgets and obscene deadlines down everyone's throats. Honestly if you want someone to blame, blame John Q Public, because everyone is still going to pay money for this game. Game studios know they can get away with it and cut corners, so they do.

So you're saying Watch_Dogs isn't high quality?

Fail Dogs more like.. if the game looked like the pic above they showed 2 years ago id buy it, but the below is how it actually looks so no thanks ubicrap downgraded a game yet again... go to hell

Playing my "early" copy, I was pleasantly surprised how good it was in comparison to all the nightmare stories I've read.

PC traffic / pedestrians are plentiful, which was apparently extremely lacking console versions. Performance on my older i7 + 770GTX (4GB) at 1920x1200 at maxed settings (forget the AA settings but they are pumped) is pretty good, usually solid 40+ but dips at times.

Controls are awful with KB+M, further, I'm a lefty and still to this day games like this have keys I cannot rebind (ex: PGDN, Enter), the smoothness/accel .xml tweaks help but not completely.

Now the graphics. They are all over the place. Some textures, models, details are amazing; but some of them are just trash. Some bushes/trees have multi-segments that blow realistically in the wind, but then have a low res texture on them, or one without transparency. Some buildings/rooms are cluttered with nice details, others just blank hallways. It reminds me of BF3, where the engine is clearly capable of a lot, there are clearly high end assets being used, but they just didn't quite get everything to mesh together when actually in motion right. Its hard to describe.

Exploration wise, you can't jump, and some rocks/walls cause your car to do some really weird stuff, which kills the fun-factor in some cases. There won't be any good zany stunt videos like people make for GTA games in this.

The Minigames are silly and make the title really feel like I should compare it to SR3 rather than GTA. Not that that a necessarily bad thing.

the more I read and see, the more glad I am I didn't jump on the bandwagon. No jumping in a game? jesus, even the original mario from 30 years ago could jump.

i don't trust big name reviews, so we will wait and see what happens after it goes live.

Looks like using this game as something to tide me over till GTA5 on PC rolls out just isn't going to happen. Even sadder thought - if and when GTA5 does hit PC, odds are it will be a crappy port, and highly locked down to prevent any modding like the good ole' days.

Gta5 on pc is a pipe dream. It look good for 360 but the crappy framerate, the horrible pop in made that impossible for me to play it. Was a great project on last gen console tough

Yeah, as long as people keep buying, things are only going to get worse. I actually haven't bought a game since I made the mistake of pre-ordering X: Rebirth. That game just made me lose any desire to continue supporting the industry until things make a major turn around.

I think if Rockstar was going to do a crappy port for Next-Gen + PC we'd have seen it by now. I expect to see a revamped GTA5 for next gen + PC with a lot of changes, hopefully to include more city, along with expected graphics improvements.

Can't jump in any of the Assassin's Creed games either. Watch Dogs feels very ACish. It ha s a free running mode where your character automatically leaps obstacles same as AC.

They're using AC3's animation engine.

I hope you're right but what makes you think this fantasy is going to happen?

I remember the GTA4 cycle and even going by that this seems to be dragging out. We haven't even seen a tentative announcement for the PC or even PS4 and XB1 for that matter. Nothing.

After all the bitching and moaning from the PC community about GTA 4 what incentive does Rockstar have to port 5 over?

Even look at this thread. If you're an investor all the crying and moaning in this thread is more than enough for you not to bother.

To not make such a shitty port for starters? They dug that hole themselves.. We didn't dig it for them.

Got to keep perspective. Forums like these represent "vocal minorities" when we talk about total percentage of people and gamers out there.

The way I see this game before even playing it if the VISUALS don't' do it for you the Game mechanics better be satisfying. If both of those things don't work you don't have much to go on.

You can pass the blame game around. I purposely didn't say who is to blame or who started it.

But if I'm an investor and I see how the PC community reacts, why do I funnel money into supporting them. So they can wait 6 months and buy it for $10 on steam?

Gaming is a business. Pure and simple. If there isn't money to be made, you're treated as a second hand citizen. Rockstar sold somewhere around 35 million copies of GTA5 for last gen consoles. Most of them at full price within the first few weeks of release. You honestly think a company taking in that much money cares what a PC gamer wants for $15 on Steam sale?

Generally I would agree with you, but people on this forum are a good representation of PC gamers as a whole. Especially those who care about high end features in games for their $2000 systems.

I find it amusing we are willing to spend thousands on hardware, but bitch and moan over a $60 game. I made the point in another post. The day PC gamers are willing to pay $100 for a proper PC release is the day we will start seeing high end PC ports. Otherwise the ROI on PC gaming isn't worth much more than a quick port job for most pubs.

Why are you even here? That is not rhetorical either, seriously, why?

Was watching a video of a guy playing it with keyboard and mouse and it looks nearly unplayable without a controller. Your left and right just rotate your character instead of sidestepping like every other game for the past 20 year.

Everything I have seen is bad. Visually it's nothing special. Gunplayis crap, driving is crap, hacking is a 5min gimmick. WWhat's left is 5 years of disappointment.

What they should have done was take sleeping dogs and gave it a bigger map.

Game seems to run fine for my friends on PC. They are using controllers but are running on ultra without issues beyond somewhat low fps. Nobody is bitching though.

Damn. Glad I didn't fall victim to the hype...

After watching numerous game-play videos I walked away with the feeling that this is just Assassin's Creed in another skin.

no they don't.

i take back what i said though, the game definitely has acceleration. oh well. third person games are terrible with mouse and keyboard anyway.

GTA for PC, sleeping dogs, tomb raider, assasins creed....they all do mouse and keyboard fine for 3rd person.

Well, I'm officially going to scratch this one off the list. PC gaming is in a very sad state these days.

Everyone who downloaded this and is having performance issues, take a look at this.

That is hilarious. Hopefully none of you got the fake release. lol
Is this how people in this thread are posting screenshots and performance issues of the game when the game supposed to be out on May 27th.?

I've been wondering about that myself lately how people are posting screenshots when the game hasn't come out to PC yet.
