Damn I wish Amazon prime matched. Hate to give Newegg my money but I might have to pull the trigger on this. That's the cheapest I've seen the 8350 at.
I posted it for Tiger Direct last week when it was $150... it also had a coupon code to take $15 off for items over $100 so it was $135 shipped. No one even commented on it..
Can I ask why the hatred for Newegg? I still find them better them Amazon for computer related products. Amazon charges us tax now on in Mass. & I find their shipping pretty slow (I'm not a prime member)
On the 8350, I thought about it for about 5 minutes. In my case it wouldn't work as my old Deneb Phenom 970 o/c 4.1 would require a new MB. I don't think I would see worlds difference playing turn-based strategy games on my rig.
Mainly because Newegg cut link referral revenue by a significant amount.
That many people here are affected by link referral revenue?
[H] was affected(hint the redirect option to amazon for all outgoing newegg links). Most people stand behind their community, in this case [H].
Side note... in for one and $600 worth of other stuff. Doh! Ohh well.
That auto redirect is pretty bad tbh, its one thing to say "Please use amazon instead", but to force it to go there and opt-in to newegg is bad.

NewEgg has also had some customer service issues as of late. I haven't experienced them myself, but between my Prime membership to Amazon, the [H] getting more referral revenue, and occasional NewEgg horror stories, I try to order on Amazon instead when I can.
oh yeah, i forgot. Too busy counting my share of [H] profits...
Because running a site like [H] is free/cheap... not. It's a business venture like everything else. Grow the fuck up.

Thats relevant. If [H] is a community that you enjoy and is a valuable resource for you then there is absolutely nothing wrong with supporting the companies that sponsor it. This forum is my #1 online hangout and where Ive learned the most over the passed 4-5 years. I read most all the articles and consider them God's own word. That makes it worth it to me to support the sponsors that buy ad space that keeps the lights on in this joint.
AnandTech for example isnt a community that Im a member of and while their articles are very good and I trust them, about the only time I read them is when they turn up in a Google search when Im researching something. Their forum is a toilet so I definitely dont spend any time there so I dont base any buying decisions on who sponsors that site.
So yeah, if you really like a site/community then there is something in it for you to support the companies that support it even though youre not getting any actual "profits" in terms of cash. Youre getting paid back in a great community and information/educational resource.
I use multiple forums and shop at both Newegg and Amazon. I'm not going to pick one over the other based potential profits/losses to one of them, I'm going to pick whom to deal with based on how I benefit from it.
I wouldn't get my knickers too twisted up about it. Only 3 people cared enough to comment on it here and my comment was mainly complaining about not wanting to give any money to those bastards at Newegg. With AMD abandoning the performance CPU market, nobody really cares if their shit is on sale anymore. I mean this is a 2 year old CPU for God's sake. Can't expect too many people to get all wet over a 20% off sale.
Have to admit tho, for $135 I would've bit in a heartbeat. Sorry I missed that one. If it ever comes up again by all means post it up.
Do you even know what you are talking about?
They are both businesses. I get proceeds from neither of them. Whatever deals they have between them pertains to them and has nothing to do with me. [H] and Newegg are in it for the money, not because they are your buddies.
Bullshit. You can tell Kyle runs this site because he enjoys the tech. Go watch any video with with him reviewing something he likes, there's clear enjoyment there. Deciding to monetize the site and make a living on it is not at all comparable to newegg.
You get something from this site and it costs you nothing at all why wouldn't you want to support that?
The deal between [H] and newegg also happens to coincide with newegg going down the toilet. So it's really just one more thing to add to the list.

While I still read articles @ Anandtech, I don't see him going out of the way to do the same. He may have started because it was a hobby, but he is most definitely 100% in it for the money. Just look at the advertising money he gladly takes from AMD and Nvidia. I guess you could at least say he doesn't try to hide it.

LOL!! I think I am still living in the past and thinking the processor is still new. I can't believe how old it is now and no real replacement for it. In reality, the processor should be around $99...
In that case good thing Intel has been sitting on their butt for 5 years. Because Haswell is barely faster than Sandy Bridge.
Yes Haswell is way ahead of Piledriver, but so was Sandy Bridge.
I shudder to think if AMD ever actually does something. Intel could be beaten so easily. The fact the 8350 is still competitive says it all about Intel.

I agree, it's a little extreme.
It's not competitive and never was and that says everything about AMD. Things are so stagnant because AMD stopped competing. The fact that Intel can put out a minor refresh every year and still be 3 generations ahead is pathetic.
