Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Last night i got the WD helm that increases pet damage (linked a few pages back) It rolled with decent stats but no Crit. I spent 12+ souls, and now each roll is over 1 mil gold. Im not sure whether or not its worth it to keep going when i could make other improvements through crafting with those souls and gold

Hah. I spent 35 souls and over 20 million to roll CHD on my Moonlight Ward for my Wiz. I think blizzard had a thing against me as i kept on re-rolling and kept on seeing my money decrease. After finally get CHD it ended up being 93% CHD great but not worth the money i spent into re-rolling it. The biggest bullshit i found in re-rolling these items is the cost of making ruby gems in order to roll this.

Hold out on re rolling until you have the income to roll again. Not worth it to handicap yourself early on.

Been playing alot of my monk. Got Harringtons Belt (funny, thats my last name). Which in my opinion is pretty OP.

Strongarm bracers, enemies hit /w knockback take 23% extra damage.

So I pop Epiphany, use Tempest Rush (with knockback Rune) and just do devastating damage to everything. Open a chest, and +104% damage. Pretty fun build ATM. Still a WIP.

FYI, according to my clan vortex effects count as knockbacks for the purpose of procing Strongarm bracers. This means things like barb's call of arreat (the leap rune) and monk's cyclone strike both proc it.

I've yet to verify it through personal testing though.

This is my T4 run build. Paper stats means jack all. Look at the sets + royal ring to see the boosts I get. ie all of the good ones. I walk t4 and fear very little except for 5 elite mobs and a rift guardian in the a3 tileset on t5, then I fear a lot and maybe die once.

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Slade-1404/hero/5315249

To run T5, I swap out belt and bracers to Guardian set (bracers have crit chance and 20% fire to go along with 95 and 100 all resist. Offensively, I add either a Dead Man's quiver with 10% crit chance giving me 70% total and 14% cluster damage boost, or for speed of regular attacks with a Danetta's and the stun ability of rattle and roll depending on my play style mood. The guardian's set throws me to 20 mil toughness while retaining 1 mil dps + 52-55% fire damage and 14% cluster. If the deadman's or danetta's veng, I boost to 22.8 mil toughness with the added hp. At t5 a rift guardian perendi will chunk me for 500k damage.

The hope is to get a perfect trifecta fire magefist or a cindercoat with ar + high fire and reduction.

I believe it works with my bracers when I use my eq set as barb with call of arreat

So what's the purpose of the Raise/Lower Difficulty buttons?

Every time I've wanted to use them they're greyed out :(

That's an awesome build. Do you have any tips to help me run higher torment levels?

Generally, you can only turn up difficulty outside of a game. Use the game settings button prior to actually starting a game and you should see on the right hand side a difficulty section.

Life on hit/life steal/vit are the stats I loathe when trying to raise damage.

Get a royal ring, reduce requirements, start combining gear. Having 4 of 1 set is kinda pointless when a ring exists that allows you to combine multiple sets and pull more set bonus.

Normal horodic box drops royal rings. Jump into as many normal games and farm boxes. Also possible to get a nice amulet, during my royal ring hunt, I got 5 ammy's. Kept 2.

Anyone know what is up today? First time I've seen the login queue pop up mid week like this. Downtime scheduled for tonight, related to that?

I dunno if it really is a first world problem.

It's Blizzard's mind-bogglingly batshit crazy choice to host the critters online. I finally got around to starting the expansion this weekend and while it finally feels like a Diablo game (i.e. fun) I had no less than three dropouts where I'm swinging at something and there's no connection, only to see 10 seconds later myself swamped by beasts and 75% down on health. The console versions show it's utterly unnecessary to require online hosting. I know this has been beat to death but I'm still shocked that they haven't included the choice for offline play after authentication.

I do have to say that after playing the beginning of the expansion and actually following the story, it's much better done than the rest of the game. I hope it keeps up throughout the rest of act V.

If I get one more broken crown instead of a mask of jeram or Quetzalcoatl for my wd I'm gonna rage pretty hard. Think I'm at 5 broken crowns now

I think so, too, but the ending was extremely disappointing in my opinion...

Thats nothing. Last night alone im trying to get the gloves that increase pet attack speed. Last night, in one night, i spent about 1k shards on gloves, and i got 9...NINE! of the gloves that create the shield (im at work cant figure out the name). The only other leg i got was Gladiator gauntlents which were an OK upgrade, except i spent 10 souls trying to roll for crit
damage.

I got both yesterday from Kadala. RNGesus shined his light on me!

How were your stats on Mask? I got one a few days ago but it wont roll crit for the life of me. My next roll is up to 4.5 mil. There really should be a limit on the number of the times the same stat rolls

It didn't roll crit % unfortunately, but it has a socket. I am currently wearing an Int/Vit/AR/Crit % Mask of Jeram with no socket. I want Int/Defense_Something/Crit with a socket, I can get that with the new one presuming the Mystic is kind.

The game is taunting me because I had a good Mask of Jeram long ago and melted the wrong one when I got a second one (oops).

The Quetzalcoatl doesn't have Crit % OR a socket, I can't decide what to do with it :(

I came up with this trying to keep track of what stats to shoot for on each piece of gear:

[Helm]
Primary Stat
(Vit / AR / Arm)
+Crit %
Socket

[Shoulder]
Primary Stat
Vit
(AR / Arm)
+Skill Damage

[Amulet]
Primary Stat
+Elemental (or + Damage?)
+Crit %
+Crit Damage

[Gloves]
Primary Stat
+Crit %
+Crit Damage

[Chest]
Primary
Vit
(AR / Arm)
3 Sockets

[Bracers]
Primary
(AR / Arm)
+Crit %

[Legs]
Primary
Vit
(AR / Arm)
2 Sockets

[Rings]
Primary
(+IAS / +Damage / +Elemental)
+Crit %
+Crit Damage

[Boot]
Primary
(Vit / AR / Arm)
+Speed
+Skill Damage (?)

[Weapon / Off hand]
Best possible items for spec, socket on weapons

Are you running a sycophants build? If so from what i read Increased Attack Speed has a pretty high priority

I was playing a +Fire Damage build with Sycophant support. For the last few days I've been trying out a Confusion Plague of Toads/Group Support build (which utterly fails when I die first :p). That build use Syocphants as well, since they are universally good with a decent Mask of Jeram.

IAS is still a priority with Sycophants (mostly to get them spawned faster), however it is less important since pets now benefit from +Crit Damage. If my options were +Crit Damage on an Amulet or +6% IAS, I'd definitely take the +Crit Damage. If the options were IAS or +Damage on an Amulet, I would take the IAS.

Getting Crit % and Crit Damage on the slots where it is possible is really critical (pun!) to doing a ton of damage.

Indeed it is, as attack speed is a direct multiplier in both the generation rate of fetishes as well as their damage.

Damage calc for sycophants is...
[weapon damage] x [1 + (Intel / 100)] x [ APS ] x [ 1.8 ] x [% Phys Element*] x [% Elite] x [%CHC&%CHD]

*: % Phys Element = Actual Phys Element % + Mask of Jeram Damage % (for some reason...not sure if it's a bug or intended)

Wrathful Protector also has a built in modifier for [ APS ] x [ APS ] when doing the damage calculation. That gets modified by +Fire % and gets treated like a spell. But still valid information for anyone who likes huge crits and is working on IAS gear...

So what's the highest dps 2-hander y'all have seen? Got a legendary 2-handed crossbow to drop last night, 1700 dps, vs my rare 1-hand at 1600 dps... still doesn't seem like they increase damage enough.

I believe a perfectly rolled Blackguard http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/blackguard can get 3100 DPS.
This is due to the fact that %damage on weapons only affects black damage, not elemental. Probably a bug but that's how the game currently works.

'Black damage' being the base weapon damage + "increased damage" mod, not elemental damage of any kind.

Highest 2hander i seen was my Warmonger, which was over 3000 Damage. Its now 2913.2 since i took out the +atk speed.

DiabloProgress is kinda odd. I'm ranked 56 in NA and 137 world in all resist. Pretty much sums up my survivability to T5. Damage wise I'm in with 20k other players balancing out elemental damage/regular damage along with surviving. I could probably up that if I forgo surviving and stick to T3 or less.

T4->T5 groups is an odd jump because I can walk T4 right now with no changes, but if I try the same gear in T5, the threat of 1 shot or near 1 shot elites bugs the hell out of me. The hp gain of the enemies is so high that you'd have to add another mil dps to get back that feel, but gear wise, you are so much at the mercy of RNG for stuff that the idea of sidegrade is hard as hell. I'm storing now 3 cindercoats, 2 magefists (had 3 but last one was terrible), almost 2-3 of all the essential parts for fire builds, but none with that perfect roll. I got a int + 20% cindercoat and 2 sockets and basically choked because it was my DH that picked this up. Good for my wiz, but no funds to build it yet/

Hmm I've never really put my account on diablo progress. Wonder where my two barbs stand. I have one that is quasi lightning build with tf and soh aughilds etc who can be t6 viable with raekors and IK. And my other barb is definitely t6 capable with EQ set and lut socks.

But I'm guessing there's quite a few of me out there, Lol.

Started working on my WD and having fun with my Carnevil build. 1.1mil sheet dps stacking poison damage. But I'm missing an RoRG and SOJ to complete my aughilds set. Le sigh. Going to need to farm that RoRG sometime soon.

I'm about 5 steps removed from creating alt level 70 dh's to use up my other armor pieces... this is for T1-3, T4, Experience, Gold Farming, Pets build, Fire, T5-6... just too much gear and all of it "good" but not perfect...
