Corsair HX1000 going bad? 3.3V at 3.12 while gaming

Like the title says, I noticed my PSU hitting 3.12v for the 3.3 in HWMonitor while gaming. Right now it's sitting at 3.2 and even that seems low. System seems stable, but I know the warranty is running out soon. I should probably RMA it... thoughts?
 
Measure it properly with a volt meter. Software reporting can vary wildly.
 
So you want to RMA your PSU even though your system is working great because of a software voltage reading?

Warranty running out does not mean it's time to go on a quest to scam the manufacturer out of a free PSU.
 
My 3 year old HX1000 started showing similar voltage readings over about a 5-6 week period. I wasn't concerned until I started getting random restarts that increased in frequency. I finally contacted Corsair about it when my PC shut down/restarted ever time I played any game. They confirmed it as defective and replaced it with no problems. I sold the replacement and bought an AX760i instead.

Well, assuming the voltage reading is correct (which it sounds like it isn't), 3.12 is quite a bit out of spec, which is grounds for an RMA already. I've monitored these voltage readings in the past using the same software and they were much closer to 3.3. So even though my computer isn't crashing at the moment, 6 months down the line it might be and I'll be out of luck. It's not scamming if the product isn't providing advertised results. I'm not trying to scam anyone. I'm as honest as they come. I'm just trying to perform some preventative maintenance, kind of like when you take your car in at 65K miles...

Also make sure you take the measurement while the system is loaded - the voltage drop (if there is any) will come when the power supply is loaded.
 
Ok, so the lowest I was able to get HWMonitor to show was 3.18v. While reading that, the voltmeter showed 3.25 so the software is definitely off. At idle, it sits at 3.30 exactly. I'm thinking everything is probably ok, but will test some more later tonight...

Resurrecting an old thread...

So my PSU has finally been freezing my computer and causing random restarts. The 3.3 was dropping all the way down to 3.04. Looks like concerns were warranted. Picked up an AX1200i and everything is checking out fine now...

Going to RMA my HX1000 now and hang onto it as a spare. The 1200i is most definitely overkill, but I like it and want something that lasts a long time. :)

GotNoRice, am I still scamming the manufacturer? Seems like I almost got scammed myself
 
Cheap multimeters can be off as well. Additionally, Unigine probably wasn't the best program to run as a load test. Better would have been the OCCT PSU test, which simultaneously loads the GPUs and CPU.

A lot of the time, you see people trying to scam businesses (and other people) in any way they can. Some people just automatically assume the worst instead of giving the benefit of doubt.

I agree. I was in no case trying to scam the manufacturer. I purchased the HX1000 with the intention of using it in 2 or 3 builds. I honestly expected to get more than 4 years out of it. I've owned it for 3 years and 5 months. I thought it had a 4 year warranty, but it turns out it has 5, so I'm well within the warranty period. I realized after trying heaven that it wasn't supporting my theory. The issues I'm experiencing now are during normal usage.

I know software voltage monitors aren't accurate, but I ran HWmonitor for a long time and the HX used to read pretty much 3.3 at all times. It would drop to 3.26 occasionally but never any lower. Only recently has the voltage started looking weird so that's what initially made me suspicious. When I first posted this thread, I hadn't experienced any crashes. It was simply me keeping an eye on things...
