I currently have a Brother printer hooked to my iMac. How do I configure things so I can print to my Brother printer from my iPad?

All the solutions I have found so far seem to require either a new HP printer or an add-on app that I would have to purchase.

Thanks.

I have a Brother AIO on WiFi at work. I use the app from Brother. Works great. The app is free.

If it doesn't do WiFi then you might be SOL.:(

The Brother printer is a HL-2270DW. It doesn't look like it's on Apple's approved list of printers that have airprint. The printer does have wifi though.

So, it seems like the only option is to use an app. Is there one in particular you guys have used that would work well?

You can print from chrome with Google cloud print (free). You can also print from Google services apps with Google cloud (gmail, drive, etc).

A more universal solution, you'll probably need to by one of the apps from the app store.

It's sad that Apple doesn't enable something so simple as Airprint on Macs. All it entails is announcing your CUPS printer in Bonjour. Avahi does this in Linux.

Anyway, get handyPrint get Airprint working on your iMac. It costs $5 or as much as you want to donate to the author. http://www.netputing.com/applications/handyprint-v5/

As I said in my previous post, I use the free app from Brother on my iPad.
