Diablo 3 PC for $19.99 @ Gamestop

Good time to join as a noob, or way way too late with the expansion coming? I'm curious what has changed.

A lot has changed, and for the better. I started playing again after swearing it off at launch. This is the best time to ever to begin playing IMO. There is a [H] group and also a +50% experience bonus that runs through the 25th going on right now. If you are even remotely interested I suggest going for it.

Ya, a lot HAS changed. I've had the game since day one, and I was PISSED. I got my first real upgrade not three days ago, and have had 2 others since. It's gotten WAY better.

Yep, the game is fun again, I started playing again a few days ago after writing it off from the past.

Thanks for the heads-up...picked up another copy for the GF to see if she will play it. :p

After Loot 2.0 it is very much worth $20.

I stopped playing a few months after release and just started back up a few days ago. I stopped because it got stale and I spent more time in the auction house than questing. Now it's actually fun to quest!

Loot is good now that Blizzard will not be getting any money from micro transactions in the auction house. Fun game and a great time to start playing it.

Well worth it now, the game is improved in virtually every respect. Beyond the big fixes, they also removed a lot of the little annoyances that deterred casual gameplay of the storyline (Nephalem Valor, Purple Story Mobs not dropping worthwhile loot etc).

The only tough aspect will be for newcomers, since gold, resource generation (crafting mats), gems are MUCH harder to come by. Gold also seems to have worked its way out of the system over time and people are unloading previously very expensive items for much less now on the AH in anticipation of RoS. On the bright side, Loot 2.0 has made it much more likely for you to get usable drops for your character by drops or by crafting. I've found quite a few pieces already. The only things I have had a hard time getting are high dmg socketed weapons.

RoS will make it even more enjoyable with a new level cap, new items, crafting, and of course the Mystic to re-roll those items that are close to perfect.

I went and picked it up at Gamestop since we had one right beside work (was their last copy too, lol). Regretted every minute of it because I got stuck in between two friggin car wrecks on the way in and out, but whatever, I guess.

Anyone else starting up on this, my name thing that they had me make was StoleOwnCar (since I was one letter away from fitting My in there =_= what kind of character limit is that...). Currently playing a barb, liking all the regen that's going on.

I started playing again yesterday. The new loot system is leaps and bounds better than the original. There's a bug right now where the Skeleton King, Leoric, in the first act is guaranteed to drop a legendary. That's really good for new characters if an epic weapon drops. I got The Butcher on a new monk I made.

However, you can't just farm him. You supposedly need to complete a full run of all the chapters before he's guaranteed to drop an epic again.

I play it on PS3. I wonder if any of these changes will make their way there?

Want to play but don't have the time :( growing up sucks.

I feel your pain... 30 something, married with a full time career. Cuts down on game time.

BUT, I still snagged this deal and hope to be able to fit in at least an hour a week!!! :D

I know they've ditched the auction house, but have they fixed the fundamental problems with the items that this infographic brings up:

It's not Diablo 2, but there's a couple legendary items that can drop at low levels and be useful at 60. The level 60 version of the same item will be better of course, but all these items are account bound so who cares.

The lack of point allocation by players guarantees that loot will never be as good as Diablo 2, as far as I can tell.

Damn, I totally agree with that. D3 may be pretty fun but the game mechanics are horrible.

Well, it was made by a completely different team that seems to have not understood what made Diablo 2 amazing. It's a shame.

Not a bug. It's intended. You get a legendary from all major bosses while leveling up to L60. At your level (IE: kill SK,Belial, etc at L14, get a L14 legendary). It makes leveling up a lot more enjoyable and fun. You will be level 60 after a single play through almost (no longer Normal, Nightmare, Hell, etc)

After 60, if you completed EVERY quest you can reset quests via UI, play through to SK again, and get a 60 legendary. It's supposed to be Diablo in the end, but a future patch will change that.

Basically rewards people for playing the game, not just mindlessly farming (although that's still quickest way to loot)

$20 on Blizzard's site too. Looks like they're driving up membership!
