Exactly. I'm fucking sick of this shit.

Hav3 both? Lots of good of shit out for ps3 that makes it worth it to me. Love my ps3 and pc equally lol..

At least they gave a release date.

6 weeks is going to be torture...but I guess it's not that bad considering it could have been 3-6+ months later...I'm glad the date is official...and that we finally have a Dark Souls 2 thread here at [H]

it's also nice that we get the digital bonuses such as the early access weapons, soundtrack, art book and comic book

So yeah, lets talky talk
Who knows the differences in the stats for this game? What exactly does adaptability handle? How different is weight handled now?

Some of the textures in those screenshots look about on par with the first game, but there are also some that look really good. This is still more than a month from release, so it's plausible that they're not done with asset creation on the PC version.

By the way, for anyone interested there is now a physical Collector's Edition up for pre-order at Gamestop. But the fact that there are no marketing pictures yet kind of makes me skeptical.

Wow...graphically I am not impressed at all. Barely an improvement over the first game.

I've yet to play the first one and I'm sorta excited about DS2. That last I looked, DS1 for PC left a lot to be desired. Guess I need to do some research and see if I should buy it on Steam or get it for PS3.

Exactly. Because it was made for shitty ass consoles. This will be a straight up port just like the last one. Don't kid yourselves.

Dark Souls is not about the graphics...gameplay trumps graphics...that being said the lighting is noticeably improved...if you're looking to play a next-gen graphics game then Dark Souls is not for you

Hmm those textures are pretty bad in some cases. Hopefully we'll at least be able to force some post processing to help throw a bit of lipstick on the pig .

For some reason I recall some of the initial screencaps looking WAY better than this, though. I am wondering what happened, or if these are actually console screenshots or something.

Graphics for sure aren't everything but I would expect a noticeable improvement over the first title, which at this point is like 2.5 years old.

the footage I've seen looks noticeably better but it still has low textures in a lot of places

I'm fine with it. Dark Souls 2 isn't even next-gen. It's only coming to 360/PS3. That should have been your first sign little was changing.

I'm surprised they still mention that an Xbox 360 Controller (or equivalent) is recommended...even in the press release for DS2 PC they say: "FromSoftware have been working to perfectly adapt the game for a mouse & keyboard combo"

The game is still designed primarily for the console audience. Even if the KB+M control was perfect I would still play any Dark Souls, or any 3rd person action game for that matter, with an Xbox 360 or Dualshock 4 controller.

Disclaimer: The above is my subjective opinion and I respect the choice of those who prefer to play any game available on PC with a keyboard and mouse ;).

I was going to post this =)

Graphics look hella nicer on the PC version !!

I've been playing this series since Kings Field I and II

The thing is I hope the Dark souls people never sell out....1

I'll probably end up buying this twice then.

for anyone buying the console versions remember to use spoiler tags in this thread...even better just post in the DS2 console sub-forum...I want to remain as spoiler free as possible...I'll probably skim through a few console reviews next week just to gauge the overall impressions of the game but I'm not looking to be spoiled

Thats normal.
Look at the big notice in the middle of the page on the Dark Souls page. That's not normal.

you can pre-order your copy on greeman gaming now for $40. with 20% off voucher

so for Dark Souls it's 'strongly' recommended...while with DS2 it's just 'recommended' :D

Exactly :)

BTW, I just read that this game has a world wide death counter, is that true? That sounds awesome, I wonder if it will keep a tally of your deaths too. I wish Dark Souls told you how many times you died.

looks like there is a PC Collector's Edition with cloth map, metal case, 12” Warrior Knight figurine etc...free t-shirt with pre-order...although price seems kind of steep at $109.95...

I hope Amazon offers this. I have the download version preordered through there already, hopefully I can switch if they start offering it. Even though this game is my most anticipated game for this year I can be patient since I have a massive back catalog to play in the meantime.

Glad to see your are not getting the shaft here, as it is actually $10 cheaper than the console Collectors Edition. So the game price is the same, you are paying $60 for all the extras.

However...
This makes the Steam pre order deal, that much sweeter though.
You get half the stuff, digitally, for free. Only thing missing the cloth map and figurine. Is that worth $60? Hmm...... I still want this, but gonna have to think about it for a bit...

BandaiNamco likes doing CEs that are exclusive to their store from time to time. I wouldn't expect to see it on Amazon.

Just a fair warning: They use DigitalRiver to run their store. DigitalRiver has tons of issues actually delivering things on time or at all sometimes. You might have to deal with a big headache with them.

good point...the Steam price actually seems like a steal now...but for me personally the cloth map and figurine are by far the main reasons I'm considering the Collector's Edition...I actually think the cloth map is cooler then the Knight

Indeed. The map and knight have sold me after sleeping on it.

I'm not interested in a physical CE, but I am interested in the game. I hope that this time it does turn out to be significantly enhanced for PC, as promised. That said, while I'm glad it won't be taking utterly forever after the console release, I am rather annoyed that they can't bring it out in March alongside the console versions. However, the fact that it is only $50 (thank you, reasonable pricing without the "console tax" included!) and released within a month does take the sting off a bit.

Does Gamestop do release day delivery?
They have the Collector's Edition online.

That's very tempting but charging shipping along with tax is annoying. I'd have already bought it if they would ship free to a local store...

I think this might be a placeholder for it on amazon so I'm going to keep my eye on it, plus it says prime: http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Souls-II-Collectors-Edition-Pc/dp/B00IVHQ1L6

I like the figurine...but I also like having everything tied to Steam and the convenience of no disks, too.

That's actually something I wish Steam could do. They have our addresses - why not toss in some special offers that can also ship out physical goodies like this?
