Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

I just found a Unique Fist Weapon to replace my my echoing fury with. You read that right. I FOUND something to replace a REALLY good echoing fury.

Didn't know that would ever be possible.

I don't believe you. EF gives a bonus to the other hand which is almost completely more powerful than anything else.

just read that they revamped the itemization and got rid of the auction house. I haven't played for 2 years due to those reasons mainly and I'm thinking about coming back.

Did they get rid of how spell damage is based off of your weapon damage yet?

The game wasn't even released two years ago. You quit before the game even released?

Strangest moment i've had so far (after the 2.0.1) patch was switching out my WD's Mempo helm for a RARE that was better.... I had to look at the comparison half a dozen times because I couldn't believe it....

"PC Gamer: Do you guys continue to stand by the decision to require an internet connection to play Diablo III? Is there any chance at all of that changing in the future?

Martens: Yes, we stand by it. Diablo III is a co-op game from the ground up, so having the social stuff be there at your fingertips whenever you want it is integral to the experience".

"Even though we want players to be social, we turned most of the really good items into bind on account items, that way players can be social with each other and not trade their items. I mean trading in an ARPG? Who does that bro? Makes sense right!? Yeah bro, yeah....":rolleyes::rolleyes:

Just played post patch for the first time.

First impressions:
WD: My WD is now worthless. The attack speed equipment cap ruined her build. I'm not certain Zero Dogs is viable post patch. Even with every one of my Paragon points put into AS, still way too slow. And I had quite a few to spend (Paragon 172).
Monk: Seems pretty strong. I didn't change her build, still doing a 'speed' Sweeping Wind, punchy build. AS of course affected her as well, but it doesn't seem nearly as detrimental. Played on Torment level one. Just over 204k DPS and 470k toughness. I'll probably up the difficulty and try there.

I actually have a level capped char of each class. I haven't fired up my CM Wizard, but I'm guessing the CM wizard is broken for the same reason why Zero dogs is. I suspect from watching other players that DH might be more fun now, so I may play my DH more seriously for the first time in some time. I was never into Barb in D3, so, not sure I'll care about her anymore than I did before. D2 Barb > D3 Barb. Really liked D2 barb a lot, that maybe why I don't like playing D3 barb.

You think your WD is worthless? WD's are crazy after this patch, I have a Barb that farmed mp10 and a WD that could farm mp 4-5 before patch. Now my WD can tear through Torment 4 and my Barb struggles in Torment 3. Try out some new builds, Spirit Barrage is a little op at the moment so that is a good one to check out. Might take you a bit to figure out a new playstyle but once you do you will be carrying others in Torment 3/4 :D

If it was a popular build in vanilla then it won't be viable now. the dev team didn't want you to just spam one skill. which is why there is no more WW barbs, CM wiz, archon wiz, and i'm pretty sure COB is dead too (haven't played my max WD since the patch).

I have all the classes maxed and I have to say I was weary about the changes to my wiz since they removed the critical mass passive. But after playing for a few days, I found a shock/blizzard build that I absolutely love and can grind torment 3/4 pretty quickly.

loot 2.0.. uhhh.. wow! well, there sure as shit isn't need for the auction house any more... finally getting good loot I can actually use.. I spent a good while swapping items in and out of my char looking at stat changes... crazy! I like that you don't need those books to make gems any more also.. that was so annoying. this definitely breathes new life into the game imo.

It amuses me how the forum truncates your link so that it looks like it says "Diaper of Souls".

lol

Rares drop like candy now...dunno if that's how it was before, but I'm guessing not.

The game is just pure monster slaying fun now. No more economy. No more trading. No more dumb shit. It is the way an ACTION rpg is supposed to be. Slay demons, get cool stuff, repeat.

My god what a relief it is to not be hoarding items to have to sell so that you have a virtual income. It feels so fucking good to pick up stuff, equip upgrades, and salvage every other thing in your inventory because it has no value otherwise.

yeah... I was all ready to spend all weekend on ESO now I am playing diab... this patch was a great move.

PS: I love how the shit I bought off the AH for $$$ is worth like 9 gold to the trader npc while the stuff I get from drops is like 1k+ lol

I'd like to know this too, especially since drops seem so good now. Do you get anything better by crafting items?

Same. I imagine im in the same boat as a lot of peeps here. I stopped playing right after launch cuz it fucking sucked. Latest patch has made it exciting again. Also. I was playing this morning when all of a sudden Fail shows up out of no where in my game, helps me clear a dungeon then gives me an expensive ass sword and other awesome items. WIN!

Keep the whites/grey items to salvage for the common debris. I do about half and half salvage versus sell.

So should you not break down unwanted blues/yellows? They don't really sell for that much and you can get the rare crafting materials. But I guess again, the question is whether or not it's worthwhile crafting at all.

Is it better to sell stuff for gold or salvage everything?

I generally vendor anything thats more than ~1200 gold, salvage everything under that. I'm in no hurry to craft stuff yet as I don't know what type of stuff is worth it over another yet. Figured this way I'll be building up mats and gold at a decent pace.

Yeah you should. There's still no reason to pick up white/grey items imo, the dust from that drops often enough off mobs. Id rather save the trips and inventory space for yellows. I don't even pick up blues for the most part, enough yellows drop that you fill your inventory quickly enough.

Salvage if you plan to craft level 60 gloves/shoulders, vendor otherwise. If you don't need gold, only pick up rings and amulets.

Items are better....ish.

I have fully stopped picking up yellows. They removed the ultra trash and replaced it just good but just not great.

Legendary and set items are the bomb though.

The problem with changing the WD spec is that all of her gear is of course oriented to Zero Dogs. I'll have to find a new helm and new offhand. I guess that's just boo-hooing, but it kinda just blows.

Zero Dogs was cool because it was broken. It felt like you were 'cheating the system' but you weren't. I don't think it was overly powerful or anything like that. If anything it was tough to actually attain because of the high gear cost. (All the - to casting time of dogs, but in order to play proficiently, also required 500k+ eHP).

I should also note, it's not completely destroyed either. Obviously I can still cast dogs and pop them, but it takes waaaaay longer. The survival of the build is still pretty high, but the DPS is just miserable.

Right, I get that, but it's also untrue. Both CM and Zero Dogs needed every skill in their bar in order to work efficiently. Even more so in the passives. Not that everyone will get this reference but I sort of think of Zero Dogs and CM like playing Combo Decks in M:TG. Every skill is geared towards a very specific end. This of course contrasts with something like a Control deck, or aggro/burn. I'm not opposed to the Aggro/Burn, I just would also like the option to play Combo.

CM didn't just spam one skill all the time, it's more accurate to say it spammed 4. Zero Dogs is similar in that regard. There isn't a single class that is played that can state they don't use the same small set of skills over and over while the others are on cooldown or while you need to gain more resource (whatever that resource is... mana, arcane, spirit, etc).

This of course isn't your fault. It's Blizzard's changes. Nothing I can do but move on, but it still makes two of my favorite builds in game become worthless.

Looks like I will have to play around with skills on my barb a bit. I used to use Furious Charge/Dreadnought to heal while escaping but now it just pulls enemies towards me. :(

Old set items don't work with the new set items to get bonuses. Very sad indeed.

using an aoe build atm, fits my playstyle.

seems I buy that Ros after all.

Game is acting really weird. I have one character created and defeated the Skeleton King with him. After he is dead I am put back at the very start of the game with no quests in my quest log and I have my NPC helper with me I picked up in the cathedral.

So now I am forced to run through the whole game again from the start, only this time with my NPC along with me. Not only that, I am locked at level 13. I am getting no experience at all for anything, but I get all the gold, and items, and the messages that say I wiped out a dozen monsters still appear, only no experience bonus.

Also I am being dropped from the server regularly. WTF is going on?

Are you on a trial account? That would explain some of it...

Trial account? I bought the game for full retail price when it launched. Admittedly I haven't had it installed since then. I was playing Path of Exile and decided to give it another try to see how they compared. Then the very next day this D3 patch comes out and I been playing the patched version.

There is one important thing I didn't mention. After killing Skeleton King I had a pop up message thanking me for playing the started portion of the game and would I like to leave the game and visit a web page to buy more content. I just figured I had the whole rest of the game to play before needing any more content, so I declined. I had no idea it was mandatory to continue playing the game!

Yeah you're playing the Starter version, basically a demo. You need to add the game key to your account.

I logged in and played some of the new patch. Used my WD who was like lvl18 and had just started Act2 (I also set it to Master difficulty). In about 3-4 hours of play I think I found 4 or 5 legendaries. Not farming or anything, just running through Act2. That's certainly a massive increase in drop rate!

New loot system seems pretty good, there seems to actually be a reason to pick up everything off the ground now, and since I literally found 2 of my legendaries from barrels/piles/dead bodies, I actually want to fully explore each area and check all the little nooks and crannies for items. As opposed to old D3 where your goal was to run by everything as fast as possible. I have been picking up everything and salvaging it all at the smith for crafting mats. Also nice how they increased stack size, I was able to condense my crafting stacks in my stash into one block each.

I'm a little confused though... is the expansion released? When I first booted the game it put up a screen with an option to upgrade. Having already preordered CE I did not do it. But is it possible to access that content? I already got a lvl70 legendary crafting plan, and even saw some crusader-only items drop on the ground??? I also found some of those "Lore" drops (the things that trigger audio clips) that talk about the Crusaders. I do not think those were in the original game? Interesting that they are adding some of the new expansion-related content in the vanilla game pre-release via the patch.

New loot system is awesome...just played several hours with a friend. Loot seems WAY better if you are playing multiplayer, and there is seriously no reason to play on Normal difficulty...you can just steamroll everything. I think I found like 4 or 5 legendaries in the few hours we played.

There are some wacky things going on in the gold auction house right now, too, where you can sell off magic essences for like 3700 apiece and buy high-end rares for extremely cheap.

I do find it odd that I keep finding loot for Crusaders who are not even in the game yet...
