First rumor is that the next HTC One will most likely still be called the HTC One, just with a date behind it. This is what I find most logical at least, cause "One 2???" Come on! For now, it is only officially known as the M8, successor to the M7, also known as the HTC One...

The HTC One (2014) evidently gained wi-fi certification the other day.

Rumors of a 2K display is flowing around. My guess is no... most likely still 1080p.

People don't know if it's Snapdragon 800 or 805. I'm guessing 805 when it comes out, but testing with 800 for now, hence the leaked benchmarks shows 800.

Boomsound is nearly 100% confirmed.

Same 4MP UltraPixel camera?

A more edge to edge 5" screen, with the phone keeping similar dimensions. But that's to be expected.

And some fake render in the bottom of this link:

The One is pretty much a perfect phone other than the camera (in well-lit environments), battery (though decent, could be a bit larger if they wanted) and crappy nav button configuration. If they fix those things on the next one, then it could easily take down the GS5 (along with everything else) as the best phone available when it launches. 1080p at 4.7" is overkill enough in the PPI department, 2k would seriously be stupid, esp. if they kept the same display size. I'd rather have more performance at 1080p than a negligible PPI bump.

The only reason my wife chose the GS4 over the One was the camera and I think that's what probably cost them a lot of sales with the One.

I think if the htc one didn't have the gimic speakers they could market it better against the competition.

Don't get me wrong, the speakers are cool, but I'd much rather have some bt speakers if available.

I actually like the camera in the One, I just don't like the resolution- a little zoom/crop and it's game over when your source file is only 4MP. I read a rumor yesterday about a 10MP 'ultrapixel' camera on the one two, but honestly I would buy it even if it kept the 4MP- I like the speed on my N5, but the One thoroughly spoiled me when it comes to audio quality, so a faster One would be awesome. IMO the low resolution camera is the Achilles heel of the One, and I really hope HTC addresses this.

Make the camera 8MP. Put the largest possible battery in the same sized frame. Minimum 32GB. Standard Android button layout or soft-buttons.

BAM, I'm dropping my GS4 like a hot potato. I'll miss the AMOLED but I'm not happy with the Knox crap Samsung has been doing for the GS4.

I was not impressed with the UltraPixel. Was a decent camera, but my Nexus 5 takes as good if not better pictures. Neither took as good pictures as my S4, but prefer the Nexus 5 overall and is what I am using now.

Might be very interested in the updated HTC One though as other than the camera, I really enjoyed the phone and ran stock Sense on it as that ran very smooth and was actually very quick and had no issues with the Sense skin. I actually liked some of the things that were added by it.

I hate the camera on my N5- for landscapes it's fine (HDR+ looks great), but when I'm trying to get a shot of my kids I always miss it- it's just too slow. With the burst capture on the One I've snagged some incredible shots.

Before the update it was very slow. After the 4.4.2 update I don't find it slow at all. I use Fast Burst for catching moving shots like a golf swing.

S5 sounds like it will be the phone to beat of the new releases though.

I really hope phones start to get more LTE bands, getting real tired of there being pretty much no phone that works in the US and Europe LTE-wise that is. (LTE band 7, some still use 3 and 20 but they aren't as popular).

I'm probably going to move away from Samsung next year too. Getting sick of Samsung's shit and also playing the name game against Verizon when something goes wrong. Knox and WiFi issues in 4.3 have rendered my wife's phone nearly useless if you need it for more than 8 hours without charging it. I quasi-fixed it with my phone by rooting and disabling massive apps. I will keep an eye on this thread.

The phones that will most likely work for EU LTE bands are Sprint Spark phones.

EU is mostly 800/1800/2600.

AT&T is 700/1700/2300.
Verizon is 700/1700.
T-Mobile is 1700.
Sprint is 800/1900/2500.

So the US carrier that actually shares a same band as EU carriers is Sprint. And Sprint's 800mhz is only good with Spark capable phones.

I'm not even going into the Asian markets, cause more that would be a hodge podge mess. But 1800/2600 does seem to be more prevalent there.

I do need to double check my knowledge of the 2500/2600 radios. If I'm not mistaken, Qualcomm radio (antenna) for 2500/2600 can do both. So if that's true, sprint spark phones are even better.

Looks amazing. I want to see the camera quality once they release it. Split between the S5 and this. According to IBtimes, the M8 will be dual 5MP, but hopefully its higher.

I didn't think it'd be possible but HTC actually managed to make it worse in terms of buttons.

They now have onscreen keys AND a space wasting bar underneath that can't even be buttons now

the rumors is that there is a finger print scanner behind the bezel...

This phone sounds pretty uninteresting. The only major change seems to be for the worse. The buttons or lack of them. Stupid to waste space with a big bezel and not use that space for buttons.

You know its funny everyone rips on Samsung and says they just copy apple but to me it seems HTC is the worst offender. So now we got a finger print reader and an "HTC One C" I hope for irony they call it the HTC One S

I wouldn't call it worse. You were losing screen space already on the earlier One with some apps, and you wouldn't have to worry about double-taps and other shortcuts that HTC required before.

Also, what about that secondary rear camera? If the One ends up having very fast focus and good low-light performance, that'd be a pretty big step up. Certainly better than Samsung, which seems to have trouble capturing photos in anything less than perfect lighting.

Information from a reliable HTC evangelist claims those newest pictures are real and that the new One will include a microSD card slot.

P.S. HTC will detail the screen repair process tomorrow.

New Leak

Impressions:
More "gapless"
More rounded corners
Wasted bezel space unless it's a fingerprint reader or some kind of slide to unlock mechanism
Think I'd rather use the Google Now Launcher

The free screen replacement is not something I am in favor of. What you say? Look how is this going to be good for real HTC users? You are now going to be paying for careless people. If HTC is going to increase service just make sure if I don't throw my phone that it lasts a long time. I got an evo 4g lte now that is essentially a brick. It has some battery problem and the only solutions according to people online is to pull the battery out and replace it. OK great so that is like a 1 hour process. Note that the EVO 4G LTE is barely a 2 year old phone. In this case it is within the contract period. And the resale value on the phones is so bad its questionable if its worth taking to someone to get service.

Spend the money on updates not careless people. And spend the money on more reliable internal components. Especially if you are going to seal the battery. A company that is not great financial shape should NOT be offering a service that selects for bad customers like my sister that will drop their phones and cost us all.

MicroSD slot is the first good news.

Don't argue with me about the capacitive buttons and huge bezel you know your just being a fanboy, no gain there, look at a kindle it sucks.

Blah blah blah about user replaceable batteries Samsung fanbois... The whole phone experience counts. Doesn't just stop at one thing only Samsung has. Been there. Done that.

P. S. No notable sign of battery life decrease in my nearly year old HTC One.

The smack talk has officially began on twitter from HTC. I'm getting the feeling that HTC One would be just as underwhelming if not more so... But surprise me!

If only the speakers didn't blow out on my mother's I would consider it pretty much perfect.

Nice exclusive! These pictures haven't shown up anywhere else yet!

It also looks like a finished product- if you compare the back side of it in these photos to the EVleaks image above you'll notice the metallic band around the rear camera- it's absent (with small notches) in the EVleaks picture. I'm really bummed there isn't more info about the main camera since right now it's all pure speculation about what it 'might' or 'could' do...this would have been the first information about what it actually does. 4MP front camera? Crazy, especially if the main camera is also only 4MP.

If that 4MP under 100% crop is better than 20MP that scale down, I will take that 4MP anytime.

MP is not everything, look how shitty those 13MP camera (G2,S4..etc) takes. Not to mention the horrible Z1 camera with 20MP when it first came out.
