Anyone have any thoughts on this retro game?

I am somewhat excited to see it, for $15 it seems too good to be good.

I have the Strider for Gensis
Mame Version

Strider 2 Ps1 version which is all blurry

I would of slowed the pacing down in this version seems like a total speed run...

But whatever might still be good!!

I honestly cannot remember what platform I played strider on. could have been snes. it is one of those games that needed a good amount of power to be considered playable. I seem to remember the genesis version being poor.

I still bust out arcade version of Strider on the mame box every once in a while.

Looking forward to it. Heard it might be a free Games with Gold title for Xbox One. If not I'll buy it for PS4. Looks like good fun for $15.

Old school strider is awesome, want to get this one but will wait for a price drop first.

I'm probably going to grab it. I like platformers like this and it seems to be a fun update.
I think people remember the Genesis version with rose colored glasses. While graphically amazing, it was unbelievably short...like most coin-op ports in those days. Even if you were plodding through the game it only had about 30-45 minutes of gameplay and it's not like there were other modes to add replay value. It was a full-on $50-60 and that was nearly 25 years ago! $15 certainly doesn't seem too bad by comparison.
While graphically pretty weak, the NES version was a much bigger and more varied game.
In those days they couldn't port arcade games properly, so they made them much longer and better. Rygar and Bionic Commando were other games that got that kind of treatment.

The SNES didn't have enough power to really do justice for the arcade game. But that was the case of that era. Outside of SEGA arcades using the same hardware, arcade ports were always really bad compared to the actual product.

I've got a strider board at home though.

Piss poor examples honestly. IMHO the greatest ones were Contra and Ninja Gaiden. Neither of which could run on consoles, so they scrapped it completely and the console versions ended up being vastly better than the arcade and are still considered the definitive versions. Even then, not all "systems" are the same. The console version of Ninja Gaiden is vastly superior to the arcade, but the NES version is the weakest console version by far.

Got it on the PS4. Enjoying it. Buttery smooth performance wise and 1080p.

I think it's worth the price.

360/PS3= 720/30fps
Xbone/PS4/PC= 1080/60fps

I fucking hate the mandatory analog stick controls. Should have been an option to switch to d-pad

Downloaded demo, for some reason psn wouldn't let me buy it!
Anyway the demo is great I love it so far. Nice pace difficulty is just right and when bosses pop up you are just like, WHAT!?!?

Are there any differences between any of the versions?

As for now Xbox One version its better cause has AF filtering which PS4 is missing for some reason might be a bug.
But at this point in time XBox One has a slight edge a rarity ;)

I've gotten over the mandatory analog, it actually works well.
I ended up buying the PC version, for the best graphic fidelity. It was fun playing the demo on vita through remote play, however.

The PS4 also has a minor frame rate drops under 60 as well. Not sure why as its the faster hardware.

I had a $15 credit on my PSN account so I ended up getting that version.
It's a good time. The levels are bigger and more open than I figured. It reminds me of a slightly more linear hybrid of Guacamelee and Shadow Complex.

I *really* miss having a turbo fire controller with games like this.

I had a lot of fun with Strider last night. Finally something worth using the $10 credit I have from my PS4 purchase.

Just beat it today after 11 hours on normal with a !00% competition rate. The only achievements I still need to get are for playing through on hard and less than four hour run. Great game for $15!

I'm playing this on PC. Only thing I hate is how some checkpoints don't happen after some bosses/cutscenes. Fantastic other than that!

I still wish I had a turbo-fire controller :p
The controls are fine, but I'm having to play with my fingertips to mash out the quick hits faster.
