mechwarrior online

I've heard that before, yes, and it strikes me as an odd claim.
It definitely is odd.

Personally, I haven't played it in probably close to a year but I follow MWO because some part of me has hope that it'll turn into the game they promised. Seems like PGI doesn't quite know how to manage themselves too well when it comes to setting deadlines and actually meeting them.

Because it's bullshit, and because the developers and the publisher have a proven track record (from their own twitter, forum posts, and PR statements) of lying out their ass in regards to this game.

UI 2.0 wasn't the major issue that was holding things back for a long time. UI 2.0 became the issue after they clamped down on refunding people who wanted their money back and people started using credit card charge backs against them... then all of a sudden everything was UI 2.0s fault.

Necroing this thread instead of creating a new one.

I noticed a "what's new" on Steam for MWO today. I was under the impression that there was no dev going on for quite a while on this game. Apparently, the game has been sold (though some of the employees haven't changed). They are actively working on the game now. They've got a roadmap, and from the dev vlog I watched, it looks like they're trying to fix some of the big problems in the game. It looks like they are doing monthly patches. The first patch is scheduled for this month, and another patch in March. FWIW.

The game just went straight to shit once the clans were introduced. It had problems before that but I felt the good outweighed that for a while.

I do hope whoever this new dev is gets it back on track. Guess we'll see.

PGI out of the picture? well good riddance!

thanks for the necro, I don't go looking for new threads much any more

No, pgi got full control long ago but they are actively working on it again since MW5 panned out so well

Still loving the game though. Play daily. It has faults but there is no other mech stompy game. Its low stress fun. Buikd wacky builds and go to town.

Biggest issue now is group queue and solo queue are combuned again. Get a 4 man group in the other side and forget. Rou d will be over in minutes usually spend more ti.e waiting to play than you actually get to play

For me it was the monotony and insane spend required. The game hasn't changed much in 2 years. And faction play is a bust.

Really? I find it easy. There is no reason the spend rreal miney. The economy is so forgiving other than needing mech bays but they hand how so much MC any more you can stock up when they are on sale.

They have been giving out lots of free mechs lately for doing easy in game things.

I've had the game installed forever, but haven't played it. I might try it now.

I was under the impression that in order to buy a mech, you were required to buy a mech bay with real money. Is that not true now?

This.
That said, the monotony was the major issue. The new maps aren't being added. Mechs are expensive and no new ones being added. No new game modes, and ever one they've added has essentially been ignored for nascar dealthmatch.

Played MWO a bit when it was first out but it didn’t scratch the stompy robot itch for some reason. I had been playing MW living legends before that and could never shake the idea that MWO was basically the same thing except prettier and costing real money (if you wanted to be competitive).

Still patiently waiting on that MW5 update and release on steam.

Decided to give it another try. I've been having some real fun chasing the Huntsman, and nabbed it this morning. But the real fun was finding a mech that absolutely tears into enemies better than any I've had before.
JM6-DD- 2 LB 5-X and 2 LB 2-X ACs, 8.5 tons of mixed ammo, CASE, and double heat sinks. The absolute terror enemies express in their reactions when getting peppered by the randomly staggering hits of AC fire, plus the crit seeking is insane, and at range, with high mounts. Not to mention constant 600+ damage... and heat neutral on all but the hottest maps, and even then I don't get near shutdown unless I'm constant firing for over a minute. I shut down ONCE, and that was a round with nearly 800 damage.

forget the variant but the Jager with 4 AC2s + 4 ERSMLs is one of my favorites and a goto when I just want to shred stuff apart. that or the quirked up dragon with 3 UAC2s

And using a Jager to wreck is hilarious to me as a old school CBT player, where the Jagermech is largely a joke, and the dragon is only useful when melee is involved.

I've been having fun with that free huntsman also with 2 UAC5s and 4 HMLs although I still really dislike UACs because they just jam up way too much even with the jam nodes.

How long after redeeming the mech did you see it in your mech list?
