Car Mechanic Simulator 2014 Demo

Every time I see a simulator game like this I think it's a joke and then realize that people actually play them...

Being a former mercedes benz dealership tech this one sounds like something I might get a kick out of.

Wonder how close to reality this is. Will I have a chance to find random guns and ammo stashed in the seats? How about the occasional plastic dildo?

Will there be bonus rounds where I will have a chance to pad my billable hours by lying.er...I mean writing creative repair descriptions?

What the fuck? Replace the oil filter but don't replace the oil? What sorta hacks work at that shop?

For the extended use oil that is a common thing, but not one I would recommend.

They have oil out there that is "guaranteed" to be good for 15k miles. I sure won't try that. The couple times I have gone a bit over 5k miles, the oil tends to start to get contaminated and the vehicle starts to run like crap.

It isn't so much that the oil goes bad, but that there is so much crap in the oil, that it affects how effective the oil is.

I wonder if it can simulate screw ups so we can relive those moments when you put back on the wrong size lug nuts on somebodies' else car???

I saw this a while back and thought to myself... Why in the world would anybody that actually works on vehicles, or anybody for that matter, want to play this game?

Ummm, how is that even possible? Too small and they won't fit. To large, and unless you are totally wasted, you will notice within 1-2 seconds.

Why would a farmer want to play Farmville?

It would be awesome if you could have it reference a manual, diagrams, etc., and compile a replica of the entire car (engine included obviously). Would be great practice to learn what repair you were going to do without having to worry about breaking anything or whatever, and to learn old/new cars.

Who is playing all these "games" in which you get to do boring jobs that you have to pay people to do normally?

I assume they have a plumber and janitor simulator now too? Toss kitty litter, mop up vomit.

Where's the score multiplier for purposefully installing defective parts that will break days later?

Where's the option to secretly set higher prices to try and juice the customer as much as possible without pissing them off?

:D

Some of the work orders are oddly worded in this "game".

One task read "replace the timing".

Turned out it was missing the word "belt".

I had a roommate who used to play train simulator all the time. Used to give him shit for it all the time. Until one day while I was raging about getting pwned and camped I looked over at him and saw him gleefully running his train.

Sometimes the simple things are all it it takes to make you happy.

If it were a timing chain this game might actually be on to something.

It'd be cool to have to line up timing marks, use camshaft holding tools, counting and marking cam gear teeth. Off by one tooth? OOPS! New engine for you!

the game is actually a pretty good idea... i know nothing beats real life hands on experience, but it's better than reading textbooks and diagrams about the trade

i think of it as an interactive textbook.. this is education of the future folks

It's a good idea with extremely poor execution. The game does not appeared detailed enough to call itself a "simulator".

you are fucking kidding me right?

next up; tax accountant simulator 4

Played this a few weeks ago. It's a fun time waster but not entirely as accurate as you can get but I suppose your a basic mechanic on the most common/average issues one would encounter with their cars.

I think this as the potential to be educational and f..... and educational.

If u wanna see one simulator game thats hillariously horrible check out on steam community
reactions to Woodcutter simulator 2013
http://store.steampowered.com/app/267610/

not linking so u buy it...but so u guyz have a good laugh

Someone must be buying them because there are more and more every day. I myself am tempted to buy Euro Truck Simulator 2 even though I made fun of it mercilessly when I first saw it.

I actually do see some use for this rather than playing Farming Simulator or whatever. I mean, if they have my shitbox I call my 99 Toyota Camry and it guided me how to take apart the axles for example, then I'd be doing that first before doing the actual fuckery.

You'd be better off going on youtube and looking up DIY videos. Lots of them on there.

Does it simulate crusted, stuck bolts? Rounded-off bolts from the previous knucklehead who worked on the car? The searing pain as you try to wriggle your arm into a tight space to get that last freakin' invisible nut that you can only get by feel?

I don't need no simulator. I've got a 20-year-old Corolla that gives me all the experience I need, with the bonus of getting me around town and the sense of actual fulfillment when I've fixed something.

The demo is kind of kid stuff but wouldn't it be cool if there was a real sim that had a database of all cars and all actual assembly/disassembly.

Timing belts are toothed just like a timing chain, but unlike a chain, the belt stretches slightly when you tension it, meaning you have to have some gears (usually the cam gears) slightly OFF alignment when you put the belt on.

Yeah, except at that point it wouldn't be a game and they'd charge like $5k+ per virtual car.
