The Elder Scrolls Online

I bought it, only because I had $20 green man gaming coupons i did not know about and I used the 25% off. So I got a pretty smoking deal.

I have never seen so much crying on something so simple. Is it that big of a deal? If ya want to play an imperial buy it, if ya dont, dont buy it. Pretty simple to me. If it is about the extra 30 bucks...then are you really planning on paying the monthly fee to start with? Is it going to be the end of the world that you dont have a class to play? There are 9 other classes.

I'd love to dig up your thoughts on Day 1 DLC...

I can't decide if I want this game for PC or PS4/Xbox. Yes resolution+graphics will be better on a PC but a console game guarantees me a comfortable couch and a 65 inch screen instead of a computer desk and that makes a big difference when you are playing for 4-8 hours at a time.Yes I can proably hookup a ps4 controller to my PC, then hook up my PC tomy 65 inch TV, which it already is, and then play the game that way but for some reason the simplicity of plug and play nature of a console is really intriguing me.

Like buying a new car, signing the agreement, and walking out to it with a huge grin on your face. You watched the videos and read the magazine interviews; you've made the correct choice! Then when you open the door you find out that the steering wheel and gas pedals are day one DLC. The brake pedal is free day one DLC though so you're grateful that the developer was able to give that to you for free. Obviously they developed those after they made the car so it's all good that they are extra!

Time to start saving for car wash DLC, gas DLC aka subscription DLC, safer tires DLC, beads on your seats DLC, windshield wiper DLC, wax DLC, etc.... Oh yea you got Premium so you have to get some insurance DLC otherwise you can't drive on the same roads with everyone else. If you don't buy Premium then you can just drive up and down your driveway. Oh yea car payment DLC needs to be paid so that your account doesn't get frozen. This is separate from subscription DLC. It is an extra perk for choosing Acme Gaming Corporation where reaming you is why you trust us!

My thoughts on the new DLC market craze.

Not sure where you've been but this has been going on for years now. Everyone used to say we were stupid for complaining about back then, but looks like fail and I were right on the money.

Your complaints are too little too late now.

I've been in and out of various threads supporting the "vote with your wallet" idea. Haven't seen Fail much in a while. Too little too late maybe, but there are those like CD Project who do listen to the too little.

If you don't like it, don't buy it.

Is it douchey they change their model? I guess in a way, but it's possible that their entire budget for said game is based around said model. Game may otherwise not have been made if that were the case, more people would complain about that than the business model.

It sucks if you really only want to play that race, sure. But at that point you must really want to play that game..

Seems like another 1-3 month MMORPG to me.

3 months is generous.

Even watching the PvE video that they cherry picked to show its best features, it doesnt feel like it does anything well enough to stand on its own feet.

With other games coming out in Feb and March, I dont think I would play this any time soon even if i got it for free.

Yeah, I wasn't particularly impressed by anything I've seen of the game and when I played in the beta. I just hope that a few of the upcoming MMOs will last at least a year.

How the hell can you even remotely support this BS tactic? It's a subscription based game WITH a cost of entry. Al content should be 100% available to every person that is subbed. Pre-purchase packages should have small incentives, not game changing/altering experiences.

People that complain about things are going to be right more often than not. It takes much bigger balls to look at the good that could happen instead of crapping all over everything. I wouldn't go patting yourself on the back too much about it....

Anyway, I can say most people thought this looked pretty rough going into it. Its not that we don't believe that the company could do a good MMO...simply that people don't want to play an Elder Scrolls MMO. The whole point of Elder Scrolls is the single player, rule the world experience. That doesn't translate well to an MMO shared experience.

I wonder what good will come of restricting everyone but those who paid more from playing the full game?

Let me try!

Maybe when Imperials are universally recognized as OP or something more people will go out and re-buy the game (but this time the collectors edition), and then.. and then... Oh i know!! And then they'll have the money to build a co-op mode into the next Elder Scrolls game!

... I don't know man.. this whole looking for the good stuff just makes me feel like I'm on drugs.

If your game has to justify it's business model before launch, it detracts from it's launch. That leads to lost sales. This is the Steam sale generation. We are willing to wait and see how it goes before we commit.

True... but now that MMOs are targeting the console crowd, they have a lot more dependable sales because those folks generally don't give a shit about saving money.

I have a beta key for this weekend's test. PM me if you're got 2+ years on the forums and if I don't secretly (or not so secretly) hate you I'll send it over.

dont think ill play either this weekend, too much of a bore. if anyone wants to check it out, i got a betakey for it as well. pm me

I read in the new beta email that you can use that character on the next test as well. So will you be able to use this character once the game is released?

Don't count on it.

It's nice that they didn't wipe from the last test. That will save some time.

Do any MMO's allow you to use the same character you used in a beta test?

I think it's pretty common for that to be the case coming from open beta, yes. Closed beta? Not so much. Keeping characters from open beta is part of the hook for getting people to buy the game though, so I'd be surprised if they didn't do that. Open beta isn't really a beta, in MMO terms "open beta" really means "free trial launch".

Well shit, that sucks. I don't want to keep playing then have to start over at launch.

Edit - I emailed to find out. Doubt I'll get a response, though.

dang...after reading through all these posts I cancelled my pre-order.

I'll play the beta to see what's goin on game-wise but it doesn't look like I'll be sticking around after launch

Makes me wonder about their choice to give so many ppl beta keys. Clearly this game is a cash grab with the pre-order bonuses... you'd think they'd be equally stingy about beta invites. Are they not scared of the impact of everyone seeing their game is just another copy+paste MMO?

sooo, is there anyone else besides me that will be playing this on release?

*crickets crickets*

But no, I won't be playing, it really doesn't look interesting at all. I might give the Beta a go this weekend just for fun though.

I'll be there - I just starting playing Tera and figured this would be a good break - that and I actually like the armor crafting my toon was doing so far. I want to see what all I can make....

I think my toon on here is Kondera - and I forget if there was only 1 server or 3?

I just hope we can now leave the 2nd island they put us on...

1 thing I didn't like was each class appeared to be heavily tied to 1 specific race as far as bonuses go...like I made a high elf templar? I forget..lol...but she gets no bonuses that seem helpful for that class based on her race.

I will probably be playing at release, mainly cause there isn't much else to play and I usually try new mmo's at least for the free month to judge them/see how I like them.

Plus PVP might be fun if it's like DAOC was, that will be a blast.

Got a Beta key, will be dinking around in it this weekend. As of right now having not played it I have decided I will not be buying it, may change my mind.

I got a Beta key, not even really interested in this cash grab, but for free I'll see if I can get some entertainment out of it. Why can't we really get any decent MMOs lately? Either they are grindy and small zones, or just shitty carbon copies of the past.

I'm going to try the Beta. They sent me a key. Honestly, I'm simply too curious about it not to try it.

I logged in a little before noon today to try it out and played about 3-4 hours.

I couldn't take any more of the clunkiness so I logged out and uninstalled it, lol.

Glad to know it wasn't Bethesda that put this out...
