There's a good deal over at Newegg for a 2GB 7850. The model is a PowerColor AX7850 2GBD5-2DHE/OC.

It is $150 - $30 rebate = $120 AR. It has free shipping available as well. This isn't too far off the lowest HD 7850s we saw pre crypto bubble explosion. I would like to add there is also a 7870 model for $160 AR, but this deal is much better.

Don't count on PowerColor for their rebates. I was burned by a $60.00 rebate a few years back & I filled everything out to the letter on time etc. NEVER again will they get a cent of my money!

The thing that sucks about these rebates is that they are mostly handled by third parties and, I agree, they are often a PITA to deal with. I wish some of the manufacturers realized they actually end up losing business because they endeavor to make these rebates such a pain to obtain.

PowerColor is straight through them. The drawback of them is they have the most complicated rebate process I've ever seen. Still, I have received mine with them in the past.

For miners interested, this card can do 380 kH/s at around 1100 core clock, and I believe memory does not change. Because of it's good value kH/s/$, it should hold up well over the next few months with ASICs entering the market. But this definitely feels like the last go at GPU mining to me if you're still interested in that.

I bought 2 just for the sake of it. ASIC's aren't slated to hit the market until Q2/Q3. I'd bet Q3, if everything goes correctly. Their high entry costs will keep the saturation down. I'd say 2014 is the last year for major GPU mining, until something new comes along. At most, if you're buying now, expect 6 months.

The Alpha is supposed to hit 25MH/s (it cost like $30k). That's absurd. I suppose if you're one of the first to get it up and running, you'll make your investment back quickly. But once all the big investors receive theirs, it'll start driving the difficulty up significantly.

*Edit*
Hehe, this chart is fun for guestimation on what ASIC's will do to the Litecoin difficulty. http://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty
Bitcoin ASIC's are at 7.5 Th/s (or slated to be soon)

*EDIT 2*

Btw, thank you OP for the heads up.

Thanks OP, bought one more to add crossfire to my HD7850. BTW the fan is kind of very loud if you don't have enough flow to move the air in your case, I had to throw a 140mm Noctua fan to move the air, didn't have this problem with my sapphire HD7790 before.

Usually ships within 1-2 months?

You are getting redirected to Amazon (where it's more expensive anyway).

7870 are only $160.....FYI. Yeah, I know, $40 is $40...

That is the 7870 I mentioned in my original post. If you're into mining, the 7850 and 7870 are almost identical for hash rate. I'm waiting to see if NE throws on a % off like they did with the 7850 (hoping to see $130AR on the 7870 and if I do I'll pull the trigger on it)

thats interesting. if an r9 270x is a rebranded 7870 then why do r9 270x get 450-475kh?

I have mine downclocked for temps / fan noise and im getting 414 from my r9 270xs.

this is tempting $120 for 380kh...

Because the 270X cards have better memory (and more bandwidth). A lot of 7870s can't overclock to even stock R9 270X speeds. Memory bandwidth and timings play a big part in how much hash you can get.

But I'm curious for those that can, if a bios flash would do the trick...

screw it... in for 1 to pair up with my 1gb 7850. Hopefully it mines as well as my other card to help pay for it.

I'm in for one. The last PowerColor card I had was a 7970 with a rebate and didn't have any difficulties what so ever.

anyone know if the cooler on this is any good? I'm impressed with how well my xfx core edition 1gb 7850 both performs in gaming, sound, overclocking (currently 1050core 1350mem, and of course hashing.

Hash rate is good. I haven't done much tweaking either. I just sort of guessed some values based off 7850 cards I've tried. For $120AR it's working exactly as I expected, and you cannot beat this hash rate per dollar. This is nearly 50% rate of a R9 290 at 25% of the price. Though I believe my GPU is actually running 1200mhz as that's what GPU-Z reports regardless of what I set it to in GUIMiner. That could explain the very high rate for a 7850. But regardless, like I said earlier, expect at least 380 kH/s with an overclock to 1100+ and do not touch the memory. ;)

For the record, this rebate is being handled by TUL. Never heard of them. But it's a rebate company.

Because of the amount of $30, it might be worth sending it with tracking and/or certified. I've done numerous rebates over the years and have a very high receive rate (probably 95%). The ones I have had issues with, I was able to correct with scanned copies or getting the retailer involved.

I also take the step of using a highlighter on all the required items (circle the UPC, highlight the receipt date, etc.). Might help.

Thanks for that. I haven't seen GUIMiner before, so I'm going to give it a whirl. Sure takes a lot of the work out of having to make .cfg files to see what works and what doesn't.

Just to follow up, I used your settings to begin. Doing Litecoin on BAMT, I'm able to get 440 Kh/s with 1250/1450, voltage stock at 1.21. Never goes above 74c and 24 hours straight without issues. Only setting I changed was worksize to 256 and intensity set to 20.

The one I tested seems to be a good bin.

Oddly, it reports 64% activity above intensity of 18 (yes, those linux commands are ran), but that doesn't seem to change the hashrate. 64% @ I:20 is higher than 100% @ I:18.

these are tempting -- I'd love to buy 4 of them and throw together yet another "basket" rig to my existing 4.5Mhash

I really need to let my credit card cool down and NOT spend any money, just bought a 55" samsung smart and a new couch -- so no more toys for me. The other thing too, adding 4 more cards to my existing array of 6.... means how the hell am I going to keep my house liveable in the Texas summer when it starts to hit 110F outside.

The fact I'd have to mess with 4 rebates, and they usually limit those to 1 per household... means I'd be sitting on 3 other rebates I can't easily use.

TUL isn't a rebate company. TUL is the parent company that owns PowerColor, and also is the direct brand name for computer electronics overseas.

That means the manufacturer is directly handling the rebates.

Have a summer house up north in Canada ? :)

lol -- i wish.

I actually just bought my (first ever) home here in Texas. only 98,000 more dollars and then I can think about a "summer canda home" lol

Is that is what is left on your mortgage? Housing is pretty cheap there, eh ? :)

I suppose -- it's a 30 year old house, well upgraded, 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 1600 ft^2. Price was only 115k here in the middle of Dallas/Fort Worth, TX

I can't fathom how regular people can do housing in the markets where a crap home goes for a quarter million dollars, makes no sense to me.

I'll be happier once I have 20% of it paid off and the PMI insurance drops off.... damn ripoff thats required by law.

WTF? You lazy shibe running GUIminer? If you need a GUI jump to cgwatcher then it'll at least stay up for you... My 7850's are running on linux which if you just do the USB stick over on ltcrabbit you just edit the conf file sitting on the desktop and ROLL! cgremote with some tweaks can monitor the linux instances just fine

so i know my mailman would deliver me any rebates with my family name on my street like 501, 502,503,504,505 but i wonder about ups because my driver sucks

I can't seem to run cgminer in a mixed NV/AMD system without it all going berserk on me. Don't worry, the 7850 is now in another computer digging away happily. ;)

The rebate period rolled over. So anyone interested in another at $120AR can do so if you ordered one last month.

Ahh, my bad. Thank you for the correction.

I'd say, in that case, it might be best to certify mail the thing.

I've always kind of felt that these companies will intentionally reject a certain percentage, just to see who doesn't follow-up. If you reject 50% off the bat, and only 30% return to complain, you win!

Grabbed one more to pair with the one from last rebate for crossfire setup:)
