Post Your Workstations 2014

***snip***

Another chair that I would recommend is the Steelcase Leap. I bought both the Leap and the Embody for an extended in home test. The Leap is very comfortable as well. I kept the Embody just because it looks cooler :p

My work has Steelcase Leap's at the office. I too found them similar in comfort, but with an edge to the Embody. (I love how the Embody seems to move with you a bit.) Looks... yeah, I am not a huge fan of the Leap's looks.

Agreed. Leap responds to your general movements, whereas Embody moves with your body's every shift. As far as the looks, I tried to spruce up the Leap's looks by getting it in red fabric and polished aluminum frame (a $300+ option. Ugh). But nope, it still looks like a plain office chair. I'm sure there are people who prefer the understated look though.

First post!! I actually registered to show off my desk and point out that walwalka, you have a lot of lotion and liquor on your setup!!! Crucial to any man cave i suppose LOL

Here is what i have!
Lets start with the WOOD(pun) :)
I used a peice from Ikea called the GERTON
http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50106773/
A very light wood some form of beech wood.

I then added a few coats of linseed oil(boiled)
Plus a few coats of poly once that was cured.
This is the result

After that I decided I wanted my Onkyo system to "hang" from the bottom right side of the desk, a position I do not plan to sit in(the desk is HUGE, so there is plenty of room).
Here are the brushed aluminium hangers i made from what home depot had.

I clear coated them, after all was set up of course they are not really visble at all, i guess they wont corrode as fast!!
Modded my Onkyo!

This is where it goes

Next up was the final sanding and "GLAZE"
After awhile this stuff kind of SANK into the grain of the wood as well as the joint that are there from sandwiching all these small wood slices together. You may not be able to tell very much from the picture, but
I give to you
The Executor

Haha! Walwaka's liquor is so that it feels like a stranger, lol.:D

As for your desk. it's gorgeous! You may be lacking tissue and lotion but you have the hand sanitizer for the clean up, lol:D

Built it myself out of MDF used Ikea Desk Legs.

Actually Not to hard to do with a Jigsaw.

Less then $20 for the Sheet of MDF, $5 x6 = $30 For the Legs, $5 for a can of Paint.

So like $55 for a Desk :)

Oh that is paint? Looks like some kind of veneer or laminate. I thought about going with some kind of do it yourself MDF desk.... I helped my roomate 20 years ago build a huge workbench kind of like that. What I didn't like was that the MDF doesn't have a very smooth surface and started getting all these nicks and divots etc.

I have considered kitchen countertop but everything at Depot has a backsplash and non are deep enough for my taste. With 2 x 26" monitors, anything less than 30" depth is way too close. I don't want to lick my monitors.

My new workstation desk is a heavy hardwood door (90" x 36") over a pair of steel sawhorses. It's big enough for my desktop PC and laptop with lots of room for peripherals, etc. I still have to stain the door and apply a couple coats of sealant. I'll post more pics when it's finished.

I meant to ask about what components you picked, i.e. which fabric, frame color, base etc. I got the carbon balance fabric, white frame, aluminum base, and translucent casters. I felt like the rhythm fabric is too thin and provides no cushion.

Right. From my original email to Tsunami Axis (the Scottish dealers): titanium base, carpet casters, adjustable arms, graphite frame, and Twilight rhythm covering for the seat and back.

Hahaha.. Yeah I do... I have really dry skin on my hands from the cold. I have to keep stocked up or they start to crack and burn.

Then there the liquor.. I don't drink it that often, but I'm trying to like whiskey straight.

Very nice. What do you think of the Rhythm fabric? I've only had fabric swatches to play with.

Quad - that's beautifully insane. do you laugh like a school girl when you walk into the room or has that worn off? ;)

Nope, hasn't worn off yet. Every day I drool on myself just a little bit. Especially everytime I fire up Battlefield 4 or World of Warcraft.

I believe I used a Furniture Paint - it does have a couple Nicks and such in the paint but I have also used the desk for 4 or 5 Years now. I think it has Held up very well. And Painted it has a very nice surface feel.

I had thought about surround with 3x Westy 37s but the bezels on them are giant and I just didn't have the space for it.. you took it to a whole other level.:cool:

I really don't think a lot about it. After all, I don't see it and I've a couple of layers of clothes between me and it. The chair is well comfy and that's about it.

Anybody ever see computers built into a cabinet? Like a wooden cabinet in an office to make it look nice?

What about airflow my friend? I'd be all for putting a rack in a wooden cabinet and making it look nice if airflow wasn't such an issue. I'm looking to rackmount 2 gaming rigs and 1 server box.

Simple.

Option 1:
Build a cabinet such that the exhaust isn't covered and the intakes have a hole nearby or are simply uncovered, basically only have the cabinet cover only the sides where there isn't fans

Option 2:
Build a closed cabinet and fill it with fans designed for cabinets. Place them in hidden areas like the back, bottom, or non-exposed sides,

Looks like a Wacom Cintiq, probably the 24" although it's hard to be sure without something a keyboard to provide a scale.

Replaced 2 of my 22 inch screens for a 27. Kept one 22 for a utilities monitor.

Daaaamn. That is a nice Cintiq. I do envy.

I'm here stuck with my bamboo. Although I guess it is good enough for basic photoshop work.

It's not about what you use it is about what you do with what you have.
Some of my favourite artists use a scanner and a mouse to colour their digital works.
I really like working with the Cintiq though it doesn't make me a good artist.
I have a very long way to go with that...

Keep up the good work! :D

Ok, my work desk... from October, its my Inception project.
I work for a Trader Joes Wharehouse, as an IT guy in the "morning" shift, 12am to 8:30am, and the walkie talkie is cause the place is kinda large, takes 5 minutes to walk from one side to the other.
