Dear Titanfall Producer,

Don't sweat the small stuff, you are doing it right. The steady stream of info, game details and actual gameplay videos are great (the more the merrier) and continually taking feedback from your core audience is a smart move. Keep up the good work.

-Gamers

Instead, the company has been focusing on simply showing off gameplay, hoping that the flow will appeal to gamers. "Starting as a Pilot, taking on AI and other player Pilots, wall running around a Titan, earning your Titan, climbing in, battling other Titans while stomping on humans, ejecting, etc. There's a huge amount of gameplay mechanics available at any one time, and encompassing them in a few minutes is actually quite hard to do."

I appreciate the steady stream of info that made me realize I don't want to purchase this title.

6 vs 6 FTL

developers shouldn't worry about it because people are always looking for something to hate about a game...looking for flaws versus appreciating the innovation is the norm nowadays

6 vs 6 didn't seem to matter at E3 or elsewhere where it has been on display. As a matter of fact it is winning all types of awards and praise. I'd wait to demo myself before counting it out.

The quote makes me a tad concerned (if I was planning a MP only game).

Doesn't that seriously skewer the game towards older players / people who spend the most time on the game to earn more powerful Titans? I hate to be a newer player with a Pinto Titan going up against Humvee Titans.

I'm a big fan of the squad matches in BF3/BF4 where you have 2-4 small squads of 5 people battling in a huge map.

Less sprinting, more tactics, great teamwork.

I could see the 6 v 6 being a ton of fun. People need to understand that more is not always better. Remember that piece of shit MAG?

That said, I'm not buying day-1. I'll wait for a sale.

I'd agree with this. Also the 6vs6 made me completely uninterested in the game even though I was previously really excited for it. I have never seen good AI in any game, and a MP game with AI lol wtf?

Does this game even have a story since it's MP only?

Awards and praise don't pay the bills...

Easy to market. You just tell people you made the most popular CoD game (MW), say there are mechs, say stuff blows up, sold.

Well that's a huge bummer. I wonder if it has an co-op missions or anything for team play.

The biggest problem for me wit Titanfall is that it looks more like a job than a game... All that complexity in game mechanics for what amount, in the end, to running around killing stuff like we used to do in Doom 2 but with mech and better graphics... And don't forget the grieffing from 14 years old pwning you...

lol DICE has way more going on in BF, and they market it just fine. Seems like they aren't being that creative.

Sounds to me like you haven't played many games.

So with your superior gaming experience, surely you can list at least several games with AI that provide the same level of challenge one would experience in an MP FPS game?

This is one of the reasons I'm going Xbox One rather than PS3. Sure, I could get it for PC, but I think I'd enjoy it more on the console playing with other friends with an Xbox (now, if there were cross platform gaming, that'd be different).

Titanfall looks to be a damn good game that I'm looking forward to. 6 vs. 6 (plus AI)? I'm for it. I can pick 5 friends that I'd love to have on a team (using real teamwork). Nothing worse than joining a server with 20 other people just out for themselves. 6 players on a team working together seems just about right. Kind of sucks that there is a limit imposed, because I'm sure some people are into that 'every man for himself' type of match, but I'm fine with 6.

I'll reserve my opinion for when I play it myself. But I have to admit the 6v6 thing kinda ruined what I thought this game was. To me it looked like a large scale team deathmatch kinda thing.

Gamers have just become accustomed so much bullshit over the past decade that they can't help but criticize.

First, that's not even what you said. You made two claims:

1) There has never been "good" AI in a game (out of all games you've played)

2) AI in MP is either unheard of to you or a dumb concept

Both of those statements are nonsense, as there are plenty of games with "good" AI, and plenty with "good" AI in an MP environment. Right off the bat I can name the ArmA series as having AI that I would say approaches the challenge of real players in an MP setting...actually, probably harder than real players because the AI can be jacked up to superhuman levels of accuracy and detection. The Battlefield games (before Bad Company) had decent enough AI in multiplayer. I'm sure there are plenty of others but it is a dying breed, for sure. Maybe Titanfall will bring it back.

AI bots in MP games is really not all that popular for a reason. I am certainly not the only person who thinks so, otherwise wouldn't it be pretty much standard by now? Certainly AI bots are not a new concept are they? The AI in the old Battlefield games was terrible. If your measure for "good" AI is having an unrealistic level of accuracy, sure AI bots are perfectly fine and have been ever since they've been in games. Is that a new thing in ArmA? Making AI that can own people with unrealistic levels of accuracy? Why stop there? Why not pump them up even more by making their health much higher than human players, give them more ammo, make their weapons do more damage. Now we're talking right? If thats your thing, and your definition of "good" AI more power to you I guess.

But personally, if I am going to play an MP game, I expect to be playing against humans. Not AI bots with "cheats" to make them challenging. Thats my preference as in my opinion (which I do get to have btw) no game has really ever been able to deliver good AI that comes close to playing human players. If i wanted to play AI bots I will play SP thank you very much.

Counter Strike?

Unreal Tournament?

Sorry 8du8 but that's a shit argument you've got there.

No one, AI or other wise is better than Loque. To hell with that cheating bastard!

I was thinking this morning about how heavily Microsoft is pushing Titan Fall in an attempt to move Xbox Ones. I was starting to think that all this pre-marketing and hype is due to the fact that the actual game could not possibly move systems like the idea of Titan Fall can.

The game will come out, get a smattering of 7's and 8's. People will wonder what they were so excited about, or how the developers failed to execute things perfectly. Ultimately Titan Fall will not move systems after the game's release. Microsoft needs to move them now.

Oh yeah, because servers that had bots enabled were always full right? Those sure were extremely popular servers werent they? In fact, they were so popular I cant imagine why modern FPS dont have bots as an option for MP servers. /s

Uh, many of the Call of Duty multiplayer modes feature AI controlled opponents. Some of these modes are extremely popular.

This is probably the reality. If MS was truly interested in selling Xbox1's they would have made damn sure another Halo-something title was ready at launch.

Huh, that must be new. The last CoD I played was the first MW, but none of the previous CoD games had MP bots.

I think Unreal Tournament, Call of Duty, Battlefield, CounterStrike, etc. is a pretty decent list. Are you trying to say that they weren't good games or that their AI sucked?

Unreal bots beat Turing test: AI players are officially more human than gamers

Yes, genius. I am saying the AI was not nearly as fun as playing human players. Please explain why anyone would even play MP games if playing bots was nearly as fun?

Funny that all modern AI in games really comes from mods that people made. I think Reaper bot really kicked it off.

Well in your last post you were asking for a list of games "with AI that provide the same level of challenge one would experience in an MP FPS game". I provided that list. Now you're saying that it's not as fun, but that's subjective. I've spent much more time playing a modded BF2 to allow 64v64 games on 16 player maps than I've spent playing it online with others.. But then again I guess I don't know what fun is.

If you honestly think the AI in that list of games actually does provide the same level of challenge one would would experience playing against human players, than I am not sure what to say to you.

Okay, now it's clear you're just trolling.

No, I'm serious. Is this a new thing? Do the kids these days join MP servers to play against bots? This is a weird argument to me, honestly. I've been gaming for a long time, playing bots to me has always been something to do only just to fuck around, or something that noobs did.

Didn't this game win multiple 'best in show' awards, it was repeatedly showcased by MS as star of their lineup etc? Why the hell do they have a problem marketing this, it clearly has a massive marketing budget!

You will not find good bots on console games. Good bots are PC mods from modding teams.
