I want a pc game based on the movie, Elysium

I thought Elysium had a pretty intriguing concept, but the execution sucked. I don't see it getting game treatment.

It was a rather bad plot. Essentially, lets steal from the rich, because they can heal people with no cost but are mean and won't help others... even though it costs them nothing to do so. Because the rich are mean and evil.

The action itself was only average.

his previous movie District 9 was better...I'd rather see a game based off that then Elysium

I thought Elysium was decent as a sci fi action flick... the main problem I had with it was the way it contradicted its depictions of massive overcrowding on Earth, followed by the conclusion at the end giving everyone free, unlimited, and flawless healthcare, which would only serve to make Earth's overcrowding about 100 times worse than it already was.

I want a PC game based on the movie Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, starring Rick Moranis.

Might as well throw "In Time" in the mix. another similar concept. :)

While we are at it i'd like to see a Dark City, or Give 'em Hell Malone, or Versus game!!

Who doesnt want a game from the movie honey i shrunk the kids.... :D

While the movie had some decent set pieces that could make great backdrops for some chaotic and bloody mayhem, I don't know that the thinly veiled characters and boring plot would.

Side note: I thought Elysium, while pretty, sucked. I generally like when an artist discusses real world politics and events in his art, but I also like when the artist is good at it... Dude needs to get over his guilt from growing up white in Apartheid South Africa.

I'd rather see a videogame based off of a worthy successor to District 9 rather than the crapcan that was Elysium.

Blokamp basically rocketed to 'genius' level as far as critical acceptance when D9 hit, Elysium has made it seem like maybe he was a hack like M. Night Shyamalan all along - got lucky with the early material and never recovered, never got close to the high bar again. Hope it turns out not to be true.

It's Hollywood. You aren't supposed to think about all the plot holes. Obviously the writers don't. For instance, they never mentioned how this starbase for the rich that prolongs life (indefinitely) doesn't have out of control population expansion. Are those super rich sterilized? Are there government controls on who gets to reproduce? If it's one thing we know, it's that even though increasing lifespans and affluence reduce pregnancy rates, they never completely remove the belief that *my* genes are superior and therefore I should have children to pass on my legacy.

Then we have the fact that the government has the resources to use an apparently entirely robotic police force on Earth, yet doesn't bother to use those same robots to do something like say clean up the planet so everyone else can return.

I was entertained once. It was awful.

Thankfully, I'm an armchair film critic now. I'm too worried about plot holes in action films to enjoy myself.

Movie wasn't that bad.. But wow is it a reference video quality blu-ray. One of the best looking films I have seen. My new show off movie.

Almost every single movie to video game adaptation has been absolutely terrible. I only know of one good one...Goldeneye on N64.

The arcade cabinet version of Terminator 2 was pretty good if you had the quarters to spend back in the day. I don't recall enjoying the console ports though. Actually the (barely known) Terminator 1 on Genesis was actually pretty damn good until you got to the driving minigame.

So, even in a future where healing machines are so common place that they are present in every dwelling, and can heal the terminally ill for the price of running a refrigerator, we have to live in a world where the rich don't give two flying fucks about the plight of the poor, and feel threatened enough by their very existence as to feel contempt as they watch them die?

And the people who are watching their children die, are thieves for trying to save them? WTF kind of lord of the flies future is that? Sounds like the WW2 Ghetto mod.

Don't bother mang, the right wing slant on this forum can be vicious.

So a game loosely based on Illegal Immigration & Equality?

I haven't seen the movie but that is what I got out of watching the preview...

Precisely! Glad you understand.

Winner!

We wouldn't have time to politicize gaming threads if we were too busy playing Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.

Just sayin'.

Also I think Elysium's world would make a great game, not so much the script.

Exactly. If it was so easy to accomplish you would think they would sell/make them affordable to the poor. And even get more rich doing so. And maybe then they could go back to Earth after they clean it up. Clearly the end seems to imply that everyone can now be cured for free. If it was that easy, you would think a few units would be sent down. But, the rich are too evil for that.

A lot of plot holes. It just isn't very well thought out.
