Surface Pro 128gb (First Gen) $599 Best Buy (Clearance YMMV)

Would be a great price with the type cover... can't justify replacing my laptop otherwise though :(

Just bought it and it kicks ass!

The one thing I hate about going to best buy is they push you to buy their service plan, then their rewards card/cc. Cash or bust!

Bulkier and heavier than the surface pro 2 but manageable. Very fast even if it is last years model.

Runs on a Core i5 instead of a crappy Atom or Arm chip.

I can run all my business programs on a tablet now! Quickbooks Pro and Act 2014.

Also I can put steam on it.

Lets see another tablet do that.
actually my dell venue 8 pro runs all the office apps (came with it) and steam ;)..but I am very tempted to get this...

Went and checked out the local Best Buy. They had plenty in stock, but with a pricetag of $679. Apparently they will honor the $599 price from the website if you show it to them. Didn't pull the trigger yet, but thinking about it.

Also, the local MS store is showing the same $679 price for the 128GB model.

Not a fan out buying outdated technology. I'll wait till it drops to the $400 range if I really wanted one. Great tablet but I have no need for them, I hate carrying shit around in public.

How is this a better deal compared to the Surface RT with 64 GB that sold for $200 on BF?

How is it worse? $250 off of a standard Surface 2 price on BF or $400 off the Surface Pro 2 price. This one is even more similar to the new version. Surface 2 got a bigger spec jump than the Surface Pro 2 I think.

How is it even comparable? It's a completely different type of device for a different type of user.

But not a clearance item, so no extra clearance discount right?

Outside of the battery life it's a great device for $599. That's 32GB iPad Air money.

I didn't think there was that much of a difference between the 2 tablets. But in video card analogy, maybe it's more like a 7750 vs. 7950?

Its like a 7750 that can only play a few games from the last 2-3 years as long as they are running directX 11 vs a 7950 that can play any game ever created. And solid works, and autoCAD, and just about anything else that can be run on an i5+on chip GPU. So getting a $400 discount on that is a pretty good deal considering the 7750 was only a $250 discount on the biggest discount day of the year.

Anyone in the market who would not be buying this years newest and highest level laptop should really jump on this deal. I doubt they will drop another $100 over the course of this year. They will then be discontinued and old stock bought back by MSFT and re-purposed to a developing country or schools as a charity of some sort. Just a guess, but they will not have stocks of surface 1s sitting in back rooms at BB when Surface 3s are being released end of next year.

No it's more like comparing a 7950 to a turnip. They are not the same.

Meh, I bit. I could use another
