Steam 2013 Winter sale is here! runs from December 19th to January 2nd.

Sadly as a PC gamer...I've seen these games go on sale a thousand times.
I can go a whole year without buying a single PC game and not miss out on anything.

I've noticed that they will change the prices on deals with no notice...this morning the Daily Deals were much worse. I guess the moral is to not buy right away because they might drop the price after an hour or two.

was tempted to pick up Machine for Pigs for $9.99 but I don't think I want to at that price...seems more worthy of an under $5 deal...hopefully Outlast will go on sale for $4.99...will bite on Metro Last Light and Far Cry 3 if they go under $7 (have too much of a backlog to waste $$ now when the game will be cheaper by the time I'm ready to play)

only game I picked up from the Holiday sale thus far has been Season 1 of Walking Dead ($6.49)

I'm with you on Machine for Pigs. I wasn't very enthusiastic about it after I read a review that said it wasn't "The Dark Descent II" but supposedly, even though they dialed down the terror factor and stripped some of the game mechanics away, it's not really an inferior game...just a different game. I'd have no qualms paying $5 or less for it.

Outlast is great; I picked it up during the last sale and it can be pretty terrifying.

Have actually made enough money selling those trading cards to get some games. Thinking about picking up the Trine complete series. Just not sure if its my kind of game though.

This. Though I know the general public is too stupid to know what is good for them..

I fucking knew this would happen. Brothers was literally the only game I gave a shit about this whole fucking sale. What do these fucktard people do? Vote for fucking chivalry. God dammit!

in their defense the vast majority of people have no idea what brothers is, so why would they vote for it? most people are just voting for the cards and aren't going to go watch the trailer or research opinions of the game. that said, this is the 7th time chivalry has been this price in the last 6 months.

get it and trick someone who doesn't play games into playing it with you. trine and the LEGO games are the only games I could ever get my ex to play.

Around black friday some were around $5. Although they older we get, we've kinda played it all it..it can be challenging to find an original game sometimes.

Unless you're into roguelike or zombie survival games, that seems to be the only non AAA games coming out anymore.

Was Borderlands 2 GOTY $15 a temporary mistake I missed out on or am I just imagining things? Could've sworn I saw that price on my phone.

Yeah, it was $25 when it was released from memory, though as with season 2 it had frequent sales where you could get it for $20. Episodes came out every 2 months which was way too fucking long, you forget what happened in the previous episode by the time the next one came out. By episode 3 I gave up and just waited for them all to come out before playing any further.

Episodic content every 2 months is not bad at all...especially compared to Half Life 2's episodic schedule :D

waiting for all the episodes and then buying it seems like the best way though...plus you get it for cheap

Everyone do yourself a favor and get Contagion for $3.74

I have played it the last month and it is great to be an early beta.

+1

Highly recommend Contagion, picked it up back during Thanksgiving and I've had a lot of fun with it. Although it has zombies and co-op it's nothing like L4D. The developers are very active on the Steam forums and have made adjustments suggested by the community.

It was. Steam even put out an ad saying thats the price. I told my brother about it, and when i went to look a 2nd time they made it 50% instead of 75% off, $30 instead of $15.

bait and switch!:mad::mad::mad:

edit: its even on the front page, first post in this thread right now showing 75% off at $15... they really messed up.

how does Outlast compare to the original Amnesia game?

I'm not very far into Outlast yet, but both manage to scare the poop out of me. Some people say that Outlast relies on gore and jump scares while Amnesia is more about a constant sense of dread. But I know after my first "encounter" in Outlast, I can't walk around that damn place without a sense of dread as far as what might be in the next room or around that corner...

If you like scary games, give it a shot. It's pretty legit. I think it's worth $10 but if you can catch it at $5, you're not out much if you don't find it as entertaining as I do.

Yeah it was disappointing, but you know, while not as good a deal as it would have been on Steam, you can get Brothers for 60% off or $5.99 at amazon (steam code). Personally I will wait till it's on a site that doesn't charge me tax before I buy it but it is an alternative if you really want it now. Link

sigh, why do people vote for games that have already been on sale numerous timjes for the same price or lower.

Just crashed out of a game due to unstable OC settings on my rig. Otherwise Contagion is one heck of a fun game to play. I played with 7 other people, the atmosphere of the game actually makes us feel like we're on edge, the scarcity of ammo/weapons is just right. Getting my hands on the AR15 felt so good while the others had pistols and MP5's. I would definitely recommend this game, though it does some more polish before final release.

Outlast is a Flash sale ($6.79)for the next 7 hours...very tempting...was hoping for under $5 but I still might bite

So anyone trading snow globes? I have an extra Snow globe #8, I need snow globe 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10.

Wow, Steam's download speeds are garbage compared to Origin.

Steam: 13 MB/S
Origin: 100 MB/S

So far, I just bought the 3DMark for $2.49 that Steam had on sale the other day. It's the first non-game I've purchased via Steam. I was looking for it in my Library wondering where the heck it is and then saw I needed to switch from Games. :O

Dang, today's sales suck :(

Nothing I want. I see Call of Duty: Ghosts on "sale" for $59.99, LOL.

Another day, another bunch of games that have already been on numerous sales before.

Steam sales have gone the way of woot. Used to be great and fun, but now it's just a waste of time.

I bet when Origin has a huge sale their bandwidth per user goes to crap. It'd be interesting to redo this test during a non-sale time.
