Ducky Shine 3 Mechanical Keyboard Blue Switch @NCIX for $114.99 Shipped

omg thanks so much for posting this.I haven't seen a good mech keyboard I didn't already own in over a year. DUCKYftw, and it so happens I don't own a purple (magenta) colored backlit either so this is perfect!

what makes these so special? I just got my first mechanical keyboard, the cm quickfire with cherry brown keys, and dont see what all the mechanical fuss is about.

I wish I could think of a reason to own another. :)

I'm typing on a Shine II with blue LEDs right now. Love it and I've been wanting one with white LEDs for a while, but I'm not a huge fan of the snake on the spacebar on the Shine III's. I prefer the symbol on the II, but considering these are nicely discounted I might learn to get along with the snake. :)

Shine 3 comes with an alternate space bar. Bought a blue one with a red switch.

yup, alternate space bar if you don't like the snake. has the standard duck and two symbols that look like hockey sticks. thought I would switch it out for sure, but the snake grew on me.

Oooooo - did not know. Thanks fellas!

How's this compared to Das?

Between those two, this is your only choice if you want LED backlighting and a wide choice of colors & switches.

My first mechanical keyboard was a DAS keyboard with Cherry MX Blues. I loved it. Still have it. It has always worked flawlessly. My only gripe is the glossy keyboard frame which attracts fingerprints.

Since then, I've had a bunch of mechanical keyboards from Filco, Leopold, Rosewill, Ducky, etc. As far as build quality, I can't really tell a big difference. They are all solid and I haven't had a problem out of any of them.

I thought that I was over backlit keyboards, but then I got my Ducky with Cherry MX Browns and blue LEDs. I can most definitely touch type by feel, but I have to admit that the backlighting is a nice and welcome feature at night. Even if you don't use it to locate keys, it's just freakin' cool (as long as it's not bright enough to be a distraction).

With that being said, I'd go Ducky over DAS *if* the backlighting is an appealing feature for you. If it's not, go with whatever is cheaper. You can disable the backlighting on the Ducky, rendering it a moot feature.

How's this compared to Das?

If you're comparing it to a DAS you got a few years ago, I imagine they would feel similar in terms of keys, shinier in terms of the case/board.

However, last I checked DAS swapped the manufacturer of their keyboards a year or two ago and their current keyboards are much lower quality than they used to be, so if you're in the market now, the Ducky is probably a better product.

Mine came in today. I am very pleased with it. This was with the blue switches. I like them more than the browns on my zowie. Also like the back light.

Really.. I didnt jump on this deal because I want brown switch's.

I want to like Browns, but I find the feel of Blues to be better and they aren't that much more louder. Browns feel a little too light. I have zero issue with the pressure of Blues. Reds are too light and blacks are too heavy. But my impression of Blacks might be in part by the keyboard I'm using, it has a plastic layer beneath the keys for spill protection. Might be adding unnecessary resistance.

Really interested to try out some Clears and Greens. But they are a little less common, although Greens are picking up.

Huh? They had ones with Browns...

I love typing on Blues, but I find them to be quite a bit louder than Browns. Both have the "clack" if you bottom the keys out, but if you don't bottom out Browns are pretty quiet and you're going to get that high pitched click with Blues (and then even more noise if you bottom them out). Both are great, I just tend to use Browns and Reds so I don't bother my GF when she's sleeping in the next room.

If you feel that Browns are too light, you probably do want to try the Clears. According to mechanicalkeyboards.com the Clears are like stiffer Browns.

I agree about Blacks though; I don't care for them at all. Not for gaming and especially not for typing. Bleh.

Still using a 30 dollar eclipse 2 kb from like 10 years ago.....had to run it thru the dishwasher half a dozen times over the years (course it takes a week to dry) mechanical or not..no way i could buy a non lighted one.....still waiting for a 60 price to show up before i pull the triger (for fucks sake its a keyboard :))

same! I like the smoother feel of the keys (blues) over the blues in my DAS. I ended up getting the magenta one and it looks hawt. The number of patterns/options for lighting is astounding

Newegg's Rosewill mechanical keyboards go on sale for about $60 once in a while. In my case, it was less. They reduced the price of their white Rosewill Cherry Blue keyboard to $60 with a $20 MIR over Black Friday, and I managed to get one.

I freaking LOVE this keyboard. My only other experience with a mechanical keyboard was a Cherry Brown board a couple of years ago, and I agree with what's already been said - the Blues are simply that much better. The clicking isn't all that loud, and I think it makes typing sort of fun :D

Considering the thousands I've spent building PCs I figured it only makes sense to get a high quality keyboard. I went from a Saitek II to a Ducky Shine TKL MXBlack and it was totally worth the $180 (damn special edition).

After typing on a cheap HP KB at work all day the Ducky feels great! I do want to try browns though.

I picked up a Ducky Shine 3 mx reds w/ green back lighting from Mechanical keyboards. I have it set to reactive mode to illuminate brighter as I type (awesome affect). I seriously love the KB! I swear my gaming performance has improved coming from a Logitec G19. I really like the light actuation force and just the quality of the KB. Highly recommended, especially for $115.

These keyboards are worth every penny! I have 2 Shine 3's with red leds with brown switches. Gaming and typing have definitely improved! :)
