Are all current R9 290 / 290x cards identical?

Sorry, I know there are other threads on this but I can't find a straight answer in any of them.

I realize the warranty and customer support will differ from one company to the next but as far as the physical card itself, are the cards you get from one manufacturer to the next essentially identical?

I know some 290s can be unlocked to a 290x. I also know some cards use Hynix memory while others use Elpida memory. This is all luck of the draw, correct?

Does AMD make all the reference cards themselves (or contract them out to somebody) who then proceeds to ship these cards to all the different resellers (ASUS, MSI, Sapphire) who simply put their own branding on them?

I appreciate any help clearing this up for me.

XFX representative in another thread said that the only difference was "stickers on the cards", so I'm going to go with "all identical".

Of course, it really doesn't matter because they're all identically out of stock right now everywhere.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. If you happen to be looking for a 290, newegg actually has the ASUS 290s in stock right now.
