I am having a bit of an issue on ESXi 5.5.

Hardware is:
Supermicro X9SCL (latest bios)
E3-1230v2
32GB ECC Ram
Perc5i w/1 256GB SSD (Datastore)
m1015 w/5 3TB Drives (Passed through to OmniOS/Napp-it)
Onboard Cougar Point SATA w/4 2TB drives (passed through)

There is no issue with the m1015 or the Perc5i.

With the onboard SATA it works fine when passed through to a windows 7 host. I can see all 4 drives. I remove the device from the windows 7 host and add it to a windows 2008 R2 or 2012 R2 host and they do not show up. The standard SATA AHCI controller says it can't start.

Any way to fix this?

have you tried ESX 5.1? I know 5.5 brought along alot of decreased features imho. I have seen others complaining about nic/sb drivers not working now with 5.5

I have not tried on 5.1 yet. I moved the 4 2TB drives to a separate windows 2012 R2 box (non-virtualized) for now. I am thinking blowing out the 5.5 setup and trying the 6.2 version of the Citrix XenServer,

I have only used esxi, and I have gone back to 5.1 No issues with 5.1
