Battlefield 4 **Official Discussion Thread**

BF4 is shit.
shit.
not fun as it isnt battlefield mechanics anymore since BF2.

Come on dude....BF2 is how old now? We've had BF3 come and go which understandably drew comparisons being the direct "sequel" to BF2 but come on, we are on BF4 now and the industry is an entirely different beast now in the way it operates than the days of BF2. I still think BF1942 and the Desert Combat mod provided the best experience but im not running around trolling these boards about how bad the current gen game is.

Give it up.

Go play a game that you enjoy.

We here enjoy the experience that BF4 affords us, if that makes us sheep, well....BBBBAaaaaaahhh.

There is a remarkable difference between enthusiasm and blindly defending a game riddled with issues whilst at the same time disparaging anyone who dares to be critical of an obviously flawed product.

I agree but the post you quote leads to a person that is complaining because the fourth game in a franchise has completely different mechanics than the second game in the franchise.

I don't think anyone can deny that the game is flawed, most games today are when they are released. The public has made it aware that they are ok with flawed games being released, or at least the public is ok with it enough to go out and buy the product...hell we buy software now before its even proven to be effective entertainment (preordering). We only have ourselves to blame for the predicament we are currently in and I see no changes to this in sight.

Regardless of the flaws though, the fun that I, and many others, are having with the game greatly outweigh the frustrations the bugs present.

Windows, Office, almost all games that release these days. You name it, it isn't a polished piece out of the gate. I get that some people will defend their purchase and I get that some people will not agree with it. But trying to belittle them with "mouth breathing" comments instantly nullifies whatever point you were trying to make in my book.

After playing a couple of the China Rising maps, I'm not a fan. The vehicle emphasis is nice, but it's too easy to get ambushed, especially when your team isn't exactly the smartest or most cooperative...

I want to dolphin dive and throw c4 so all the unskilled will cry and quit...or cry to ea and destroy the game even more.

I downloaded and installed the patch yesterday. Then for the ol'OCD I did check for update again and it seemed to redownload and reinstall everything.

Map loading times seem a bit shorter but I only played the new maps.

Performance on "old" maps is fine/same. Some of the new maps are graphically prettier but definitely a lot more strain on my card. On most maps with my GTX670-4GB I get 55-60 FPS for the entire round outside of a handful of really extreme situations. Guilin Peaks (I think, jungle, cave right?) is pretty harsh on my card with 40-45 fps outside and sometimes even high 30s just running through the cave. Combat in the caves with a lot of people and smoke will make it low 30s.

No crashes in the 1.75 hour I played last night.

Red commander EMP static buzz is gone.

I would really like to see AA vehicles completely removed from the game. There is plenty of AA options already available and then AA vehicles are strong against everything else too (other vehicles, infantry, etc.).

Settings are ultra on everything, no FXAA or MSAA, 130% res scale, 90 deg FOV, HBAO, 1200p res.

Not to mention on most(all?) maps the mobile AA can hit you easily from their own spawn.

The ACE was definitely OP...did they adjust anything with the m416? If not, that's likely my next port of call.

I've been searching around and can't find any info on weapon rebalancing. What changed, exactly? Was it ROF that was dropped?

AA is fine as is. It's a good thing to have as air would run riot without a ground-based leveler.

No need for AA when I'm in the game with the SRAW :p

I didn't notice any difference using the ACE 23 last night. Anyone have a link to confirm NERF?

Game is running amazing, solid 120fps with my custom ultra config only a 2 crashes in 6 hrs, not bad.

I'm in love with the SRAW, been pulling of some epic long range shots on heli's, it's just like the AT4 in BC2...

Damn... nice shots. I couldn't do that if i tried.

As a side note... you play with JackFrags? I think I just saw a video that he posted about BF4 competitive gaming and he had an XTS tag.

Imo, the mobile AAA should have a ceiling cap. It should not be able to hit the c130 or bombers, you should have to sieze those flags to deprive your enemy of that particular flag based asset which is owning you. This would give jets some headroom to fight each other, and still be in danger if they attempt a ground attack or a low altitude pass or a dive. It puts the emphasis back on taking and holding flags to survive.

As it stands now the AAA can just sit and dominate on some maps, even from the relate safety of their main.

Maybe it's just because it's been so long since I used it, but the SRAW feels much more...elastic than the AT4. I find myself either under or over-correcting my shots all the time. I used to be able to hit with the AT4 really well, but I've only managed a couple with the SRAW so far(granted, I haven't fired it very many times but I had thousands of shots with the AT4). It definitely "feels" more difficult to use, but hopefully I can get the hang of it with some practice.

Disagreed. Generally a team gets only one AA, and there needs to be some sort of counterbalance to the aerial assets you get by capping points, otherwise victory is just a matter of the team that's quickest at the start of the round.

Besides, AA vehicles are useless against other vehicles except for the quad, the bike, and the jeep. Just flank with a LAV and you can destroy the enemy AA pretty quickly, or airdrop an engineer with a SRAW and let him go to town.

I think the Mobile AA needs to be tweaked, not taken out of the game completely. Dawnbreaker for example is probably one of the most hilarious maps to use it on. If the enemy has the C130 gunship, the AA can literally camp at their base and just destroy it as it fly's around the map. It's funny because it seems that the C130 gunship spawns at the same place it was destroyed at. I was playing with the MAA once and I just sat in one spot and shot the gunship as it respawned. No idea how many times I killed it before moving on.

I have no idea how they can tweak it to not have it be so ridiculous, but I do agree that something should change. Maybe increase the cooldown on the reload? I don't know.

The Ace 23 did not get a nerf. The stats for the gun are still the same (game files). Will it? Maybe but it hasn't yet. It's the only gun I use and it is a beast but so is the Ace 21 and 52 or any DMR, LMG -- in the right hands. And the biggest OP thing in the game? AA, period. Little bird also needs some tweaking as well.

I am sure it is already been posted but this is a great place for weapon stats : http://symthic.com/bf4-stats

So the new DLC introduced issues according to the front page link. Whodathunkit? You don't add more content until you fix the initial stuff. This is why preplanned DLC released so soon after the main title is a bad idea.

I remember when you used to have to wait a year just to hear about any expansion packs. Now you hear before the game even launches.

All that being said, DON'T GIVE UP JUST YET. Have you done all the thing's I have mentioned in my previous posts? The game is literally the #1 or #2 in the series that they have ever produced, IF the kinks get worked out. It is so god damned fun if you can get it working for an extended period of time (e.g. at least an hour or more between crashes). Tonight, I played 4 hours and didn't crash once. First time since launch.

Also, all the things I listed here are not normal things you should have to do to get a game working. However, they can and do work as very good band-aid fixes for the mess that this game launch is. Playing battlefield games during the first couple months is like going down on a girl the first time: its a fucking disaster when you do it the first time. Once you are willing to put in the work necessary to do it right it you will reap the dividends.

Did all that and still crashing. Its just a clusterfuck. I uninstalled BF4 and likely won't be trying it again. This is why I still like physical media , with the PS4 version I sold it and washed my hands clean of it.

What a mess.

Damn, Shiz.

The way Ravic tracks in-game is unreal and he's fun to watch. I watched the other 2 BF4 vids he posted as well. Do you have any idea how he plays, i.e. low-sens and a table sized mat?

It's a symptom of that terrible malady known as Buyer's Remorse.

Are you sure? I would double check in game. It easily had considerably more recoil when I last used it. Regardless of what the stats say, with a grip (forgot which) and muzzle break (what I have been using for a while) it recoils a lot more.

Even more than the ACE 53 (7.62x51 version). At least it did for me last night.

I'll double check eventually, but I have slowed down my playing because of the crashes. Did not get one last night but then again I played for less than an hour.

some sour cats here.

I play BF4 and all works just fine.

43 pages at 40 posts per page, about 1 in 3 is complaint about some issue, another 1 in 3 acknowledges the issues exists but is having having fun regardless, and another 1 in 3 just commenting on something, they may or may not have previous posts about issues.

Then there are the odd posts like yours, maybe one or tow per page...Runs great here, never crashed ever on me, don't see any bugs, etc...Must be your shitty rigs. (While not in the quoted post it is often implied in posts like it.)

For me, the game is flawed, some bugs are there from BF1942, over a decade ago! It was fun when I could play though. However, I could never in good conscious recommend this game to anyone for more than $20. (I think you can get 20 hours of solid entertainment out of it.)

I guess I am just lucky but I have not encountered any issues, yet.

Not really enjoying the China Rising maps. Game is solid now thanks to the patch and better drivers. No more issues.

Just dropped in a pair of 290Xs so im ready for Mantle's release....hoping it does something for performance...though I'm sitting at around 120-150fps with everything maxed in game at 1920x1200.

Sour cats? What a cute way to minimize an absolutely broken corpse of a game.

I'm happy it runs well for you but 1 in 3 in this thread strongly disagree with you. For any product a 1 in 3 ratio is offensive and not release worthy. If this was Baby Formula and 1 and 3 babies had allergic reactions to it people wouldn't be like "Oh , I cram that down my baby's throat all the time! And will keep doing so!" :p

At this point EA should be offering straight up refunds to anyone that requests them. They should completely accept responsibility and admit that they rushed it out well before it was ready and do right by the gamers.

But this is EA , they won't do any of that. Their response is "Hey guys , we hear you , its a mess and in return because we love you , we are going to stop attempting to milk you for DLC content while we rein in this clusterfuck to the point that it can be played without crashing for a few hours and that the SP doesn't corrupt constantly (maybe a few times). Sorry about that Dudebros!"

I really like BF4, overall.

I occasionally get dropped from servers, but it's not super common for me and getting back into the action is pretty fast, thanks to launching from an internet browser window. Rather than having to boot up the game first and wait through intro/brand videos.

The netcode has overall been solid for me. server lag and issues with positioning my character have been minimal.

I've only had the BF4 process completely die on me twice.

The base gameplay here is overall quite good and notably better in the overall than BF3. A little bit of depth is lost in the gunplay due to focusing more on a bullet spread shooting model, rather than a recoil based shooting model like BF3. But the game is iimproved in nearly every other area.

Also, the initial set of maps are much better than the initial set of maps were in BF3. For me, BF3 really wasn't very good until Aftermath and Endgame, due to mostly excellent maps, which overshadowed gameplay shortcomings/balance issues.

I just hope they bring back Scavenger and Gun master. They added some interesting flavor that I'd like to have back!

The base game in BF4 is so good, they really could ride this game for a few years, if they wanted.
