FTL is getting a free Terraria style update

Damn, I was so hoping the PC update came today. 2014 seems so far away. :(
 
Nice, this looks great. Excited to play it on iPad too, I always thought it would make a great mobile game.

It's more that I like supporting developer's who are doing good things. (weird that my aversion to EA and buying DLC has led to me voluntarily doing the microtransaction stuff with indie devs... )
 
I'm excited, but I'd really like to see Papers Please on the iPad. I hope that happens some day.

A lot of people made a big deal about the Terraria patch because it was free and came out so long after its initial release and was very large in scope. In a way, it was historic to a degree.
 
This game is like a giant black hole because I load it up and 3 hours later I'm wondering where all the time went.

Which, ironically enough, almost describes my first campaign perfectly.

True, though I think a lot of people expected more to be done on the game. I remember playing the game when it first came out, and you were able to do basically everything the game had to offer in (relatively) very little time. I put the game down after beating all the bosses and getting top-tier weapons and armor.

There's a lot more to do now, but a lot of the higher-tier stuff seems to be reliant on random rare events and random chance, so I put the game down again after getting the highest-tier that you could reliably get after the 1.2 patch.

That image reminds me of every round of FTL since I bought it. Lol :p

The damn RNG tends to screw me over before I even get to the last sector.
 
If they change things, drones need improved. It takes three drones Repair, Boarding, and Security drone, to do what one crewman can do. The only drones I really like are Defense 1, and Hull Repair.
 
I only ever build/plan around using Defense 2.

Though it depends on the ship and crew you choose. The drone's can supplement weaknesses, for example security/boarding with a zoltan/engi crew. You can also have fun with some strategies like going for breeches combined with boarding drones.

Sometimes it's about playing for flavor and not just to win. I've tried a playthrough for example where I focused on killing the enemy crew (eg. suffocation, fires, direct hits) without using boarding.

FTL: AE is free expansion to FTL which includes a new alien race along with new events, weapons, playable ships, drones, and more! It also adds additional musical tracks by Ben Prunty, and events by Tom Jubert and guest writer Chris Avellone.

If you own FTL on Steam it should automatically update the game to the newest version, v1.5.4. If you instead own a DRM-Free version of FTL, you need to re-download the game from the original location and then re-install it. Downloading the iPad version now, but I probably won't be able to play it (much ;) ) until after work.

Is there an android version yet? Would love to be able to play on my phone too...
