Is Battlefield 4 worth buying

I don't know how anyone could knock the graphics of this game. Simply stunning in most areas (campaign mode).

The hit detection is annoying though.

I paid $20 for this stupid piece of crap and I regret it (a friend sold me his spare copy for cheap so that I could play). It is just one giant collection of crashes. My friends and I seem to take turns crashing. It doesn't seem to matter what hardware you have, you will have crashes. I can't even play today as I can't connect to any servers for whatever reason. Some people are reporting that you can get around this particular error by changing your soldier portrait before every game, but I've had no luck.

Anyway, it looks nice, but you will crash. Oh and it seems to take delight in crashing when you are doing well. Ten kills and no deaths? Crash. #1 on your team? Crash. Think you might get through a round without a crash? Crash.

my favorite game of all time last one was bf3 one before that was cod4.

FYI i get zero crashes prob user error/hardware

First, how the hell could it be user error? Seriously, it's a video game. I play it, it crashes. Did I shoot at the wrong time? I guess I shouldn't have tried moving in the game.

Second, if it was just me I could accept that it might just be a problem on my end, but last night there were seven of us playing together and every few minutes one of us would crash. It's just pathetic. It's not Nvidia, it's not AMD, not Intel. No matter what kind of system you are running there are crashes. There's probably a 50% chance that it crashes before you even get the game to load.

Hell, I had to contact customer service just to add the game to my account because it would give me an error every single time I tried to redeem my code. They had to add the game to my account manually.

I had these problems in the Beta but I figured that it was a beta so that's to be expected. But for these problems to still be present is disappointing.

The crashing is mostly fixed for me. Though just a week ago it was crashing non-stop.

Hit detection is damn awful. I'd go as far to say that on average, expect 1 out of 4 shots to not register. I just finished dumping 5-6 rounds into someones head (they were prone, about 8 feet away). I started shooting first, and then they started about a second later. Unluckily, my first few shots did not register and his first few did. So while I shot first, his bullets started registering first. I died, he lived.

Also just dumped 5 rounds (yes 5) into someone with a DMR. All 5 hit, the player model player the hit animation. Though he turned around and shot and killed me. My first 4 shots must not have registered as he had 54 health left. This is in hardcore, BTW.

I was also just killed behind a wall by a sniper. His shot clearly went past my head as I was hiding behind a wall. The bullet trial went past me. Then after half a second, I died, and his miss counted as a hit.

Also got some kills myself even though they did not connect with the enemy player.

When the hit detection does work it is amazing how different the kill feels. You'll shoot 3-4 rounds and they will go down instantly (in hardcore). The difference is night and day.

I am sincerely worried that DICE may not bother fixing this issue because it is such a huge part of multiplayer games. Especially shooters. BF3 was tolerable but BF4 is really pushing it.

They have fixed most of the crashing issues thru server patches but there are still plenty of bugs in the game, some just like bf3 they might never fix....it boils down to how much you enjoyed bf3.....if bf3 was worth your money and time....then bf4 is still worth it even with the bugs.

If you weren't a huge fan of bf3 and bc2 then don't bother with bf4...to me its kinda a mix of the two...even today you can play bf3 and swear someone is hacking cause they games has glitches, always had and always will....bf4 is no different as you will swear some are cheating and some probably are, but usually that other player is just lucky or aware of a certain glitch.

I have been told using flash bangs on certain maps will kick the player getting flashed every time...to me i still enjoy the game even with the glitches

The game does crash, sometimes lock up my computer. But w/e. Maybe I DL BF3 I got from Humble bundle and give that a whirl.

Didn't want battlefield. Was the only launch bundle left on amazon. With that being said, im gonna see if I can "return" BF for 2k14.

How do the voice comm options compare to BF3 PC.

There's an in-game VoIP option, but I haven't seen anyone use it. Ventrilo and Teamspeak are still the voice chat apps of choice. My friends and I use Skype, but it tends to lower the in-game volume, so I'm getting frustrated with it.

I'd say it's worth buying now. The crashes are getting less frequent and EA and DICE are sure to release a patch to fix the known issues when they are resolved. The current issues remaining to be patched do not make the game unplayable, and at least as far as I am concerned -- I am having a hell of a lot of fun playing BF4.

Assuming something about EA is a poor choice, i have been burned more than once.

It's fun. Like BF3, there are waaaaaaay too many snipers that do nothing for my taste. I remember there was a BF version (BC2?) that limited the classes. I really wish that they would limit classes again. Sucks to have half your team on a roof 3 miles from the objective trying to increase their K/D ratio... but oh well.

Most of the time: because overclocking. I seriously got rid of 99% of my crashes just putting my CPU and GPU back to defaults. This game does not like overclocking for whatever reason even though I can run Prime95 overnight and all other games under the overclocked settings and never crash. Fine by me though, its still a fun game and they'll get it sorted out as they always do. We go through this same thing every time with a new Battlefield title.

It should not be locking up you pc? game crashes yes...if your pc is locking up then somthing is wrong in your bios settings, unstable overclock, bad ram or something. It will push your pc hard, including your video card....
You got some stability issues going on...seriously I have never had a lock up at any time with 50 hours so far...just bf4 stopped responding type issues

There was no voice com in bf3 at all........the built in voice com in bf4 works great for me...but i will admit a lot of people don't have there mics hooked up....one cool thing is somone steals your tank while your repairing it...you can jump in there squad and cuss them out lol...they won't do it anymore:)

I was stubborn and didn't drop my clocks. It paid off as it wasn't the problem. I only get crashes running 64bit or when the server crashes. If crashing in 64bit is because of my clocks then I don't understand pc hardware anymore.

Props to you if it fixed your problem but it is far from across the board.
They need to fix server side to drop the rest of my issues.

you hit the nail right on the head.....it will find out if your overclocks are really stable...i had to practically run my video card at default speed...but my cpu overclock is rock solid

no.
game crashes a lot.
bugs.
gameplay is onesided and I am waiting for titanfall.

they removed the fun from battlefield.
cant do their own idea.

I think by Black Friday when the game drops to $30 it will be worth a buy. Hopefully by then there will have been some patching to get rid of the major game breaking stuff people have been experiencing.

The price of the game is still kinda high imo I played it at a friends its fun but kinda pricey

It's buggy... but its fun. Supposedly EA rushed Dice to get the game out before COD. Dice tried telling them the game wasn't ready yet but... it's EA.

Buy the game to support Dice, not EA.

that was hilarious - was at work watching him lose it live. can't even say how many times this turd made me feel like that. underneath all the bullshit there is something good... but as it is now... ...

nobody will ever skip a title to punish ea though. everybody bitches but then keeps handing them cash.

true Banyan.

everyone keeps saying game X is a joke and needs this and that.
oh by the way here is $60...I have my ankles firmly held do I back up now?

and then say thank you

The worst thing is once an idiot pays for game X to project themselves and justify their money, they say its the greatest thing that ever was.

Just because you think you're supporting Dice, doesn't make it true. You're supporting EA with this purchase, end of story.

There is, and some countries use it. Which is odd as it was more or less made for the civilian market. However, I find the CX4 to have absurd recoil. It is probably one of the hardest recoiling weapons in the game. Likewise with the CZ SMG (only tried it in SP) though not nearly as bad.

I find the SMGs to be rather poor overall, though wish I could use them with the medic kit for infantry only close in door maps.

Well, I stand corrected. I'm pretty active in the firearms arena and I'd never heard of it.

Still, in the game regardless of the recoil, it still kicks the crap out of rifle caliber carbines for some reason. I just can't figure them out, unless I'm using them on semi-auto. That's frustrating. I even play a lot of "hardcore" servers and don't find things like the ACR very useful. However, I don't have many attachments for it yet, and I think they make a bigger difference in this game.

In BF3, I pretty much used the M249 and the 870, and I can't use the 870 for crap in BF4 yet. The 870 was my precious, with iron sights and a laser.

I think I'm gonna pass actually I might grab it in a sale in a few months whenever it's stable. Watching the gameplay I'm just kinda hard pressed to tell any major difference between it and BF3. I was really hoping they would do another BC or Vietnam or 2142 type game. That with all the annoying DLC, preorder nonsense and the bugs I'm just gonna wait this one out.

I'm going to hold off. BF3 is still fun in small doses here and there. I'm looking forward to starwars battlefront. Hopefully they don't feel they need to rush it and make that a buggy mess as well.

Tough to say. its really subjective, I personally hate EA for specific reasons. To each his own, IMO no.

From all the posts I've read about performance issues and server problems, I'd say they sold everyone a Beta.

Every Battlefield game since the original has launched in such a state. I can't see why anyone would be surprised by that.

Yeah, I remember BF3 being a buggy pile of excitingly fun crap for a while.

BF4 is no different. Sure, it has issues but it's still a lot of fun and DICE is patching things pretty quickly. At least, on the server side. The first client patch for the PC is coming "soon". Hoping it'll put the game into an overall playable state for everyone experiencing issues.
