We have had enough different threads discussing pre-release, alpha, beta, and pre-loading.

Time to consolidate everything. Let's keep all further discussions here just like we have with the BFBC2 and BF3 threads before.

Pre-loading has started for those who bought it digitally.

For those who bought physical copies at their store of choice, the launch is 12:00 AM 10/29/13, less than 24 hours from now.

Who is pumped?:D

Pre-loaded here, can't wait and hoping for a smooooth launch :D

Watched some videos of the singleplayer and was actually sort of impressed. It seems like a better story outright and the levels have a ton of realistic clutter. Shouldn't be hard to top BF3's singleplayer campaign which had a few solid levels but was otherwise forgettable.

I'm very happy they included a test range map! It's about time we were able to direct new pilots to something designed for testing out vehicles and such

You can log in battlelog this morning. Not much to do except look at unlocks.

Oh and I opened some suitcase things.

Suitcase thing = Battle pack!

Pre-load completed this morning, cant wait!

I was wondering when someone would start the official thread :D

Now I can officially subscribe to this thread, start playing tonight, and watch all of my free time get blown all to hell!

OK, I just opened the battlepack. I got a 3x scope for the magnum.

The emblem creator works. That means all the kiddies have 16 hours to figure out how to make penises before the game launches.

I have really no interest in this game, but I honestly have not been keeping up on it. How would you guys compare it to Battlefield 3, and is it worth a buy??

I have enjoyed most of the other battlefield games in the past.

Sadly it's not just the kiddies who do that. Just goes to show that physical age means nothing when you have the mind of a 12 year old.

Might wanna ask again tomorrow when we've played the retail game. ;)

The beta was a lot of fun, but you're going to hear a lot of different opinions on it. Half the people on here will tell you it's exactly the same game and EA is ripping you off by reselling you the same thing. Others will tell you it's totally different and worth the price of admission.

Based on what we got to play, it does feel like a smaller incremental update than previous releases, but I really love everything they changed. There are a lot of little things everywhere that impressed me, things I wouldn't be happy giving up if I didn't buy the game and went back to BF3 instead. Also, I enjoyed the beta map significantly more than most BF3 maps. The other maps I've seen videos of look stellar, also. I have a hunch that in the maps department this game is gunna blow away previous games. But I can't say for sure until I play them all.

I used the word kiddies lightly. I''m well aware that many of the people making stupid emblems are going to be grown men. Does anyone know if they show up in game, or is it just on someones battlelog profile?

People are saying you can unlock this game and play using a Korean vpn in 2 hours

I enjoyed the Beta, played for 29 hours, and look forward to playing the retail release tonight.
Forgot to start my preload last night so I am doing it now, and also decided to buy the Premium package as well from Amazon. Comes with a $5 credit I can use towards COD:Ghosts.

It will be 11AM EST that you can unlock it this way. But it's a bit of a gray area. Many poeple have reached out to Origin customer service to ask what the rules are here. Some people are being told it's fine. Others are told it's a violation of the Origin TOS and can result in a ban. Many are being told they don't know if there are consequences, but not to take any chances.

The likelyhood of Origin doing anything about it is very slim. They didn't with BF3. So long as you aren't using VPN to purchase items cheaper than they are sold in your region, there doesn't seem to be any reported cases of someone getting in trouble for this. But, it is technically against the rules. Are you willing to risk it?

They show up in:

- The killcam (when they kill you)
- Their vehicles
- Their arms (like an arm band)

Example (with a swastika)

Great... hopefully there is a report system or something. Or else a way to disable them.

Like most of you, I'm just waiting to play this for now but have 2 question.

1. Couple of weeks ago, I read something like people are getting better fps with Windows 8 than Windows 7? Is this still the truth? Or was it ever?

2. Again, I was browsing through some random forums and saw BF4 is using more than 8GB of ram? I think it was close to 9GB. Is this true? will there be performance hit if you have 8GB?

Thanks

I'll be doing the VPN thing into Korea, today is my day off and I want to play a little. I did it for BF3 also.

Preloaded. Had Amazon credit and was able to get the entire kit and kaboodle for about $70 out of pocket. Hope to see [H] servers. I had a great time on those for a number of months on BF3.

I really didn't care for BF3. This to me feels loads better and is was so worth it I snagged the premium. It feels more like BC2.9 than BF4.

GTX680 2560x1600, i73770k stock, 12gigs mem. Fraps says I was running at around 40FPS on W7 at very high settings (with AA and that Bloom crap off).

W8.1 Fraps said 49FPS.

The 2nd question, I didn't look. Sorry.

Anybody hoping that Premium will be half off or about $30 for Black Friday? I hope so.

But yeah, ready as hell for this game. Time to max this bitch out :D.

My total ram usage in BF4 beta was 6.1gig including OS (witch sits at 2.9gig) so.. the game used 3 gig of ram + all or most my video memory..

I was really hoping for a sale. I waited too long and missed the first sales on BF4 and then didn't wait long enough for the GMG sale so I ended up paying full price. I really don't care because $12 over the hours I will play this game really isn't a big deal, just a hit to my budget conscience side. I will be more mindful for the Premium sales.

Hopefully someone spends the time to benchmark 32vs64 bit.

I would but I think I'll be busy playing.

I personally cannot wait for BF4 to come out. It means that all the KDR obsessed, level 100, team-stacking wankers will all leave BF3 for BF4! BF3 will become so much more enjoyable come October 29!

I think everyone to a certain point cares about K/D, but honestly, I hate losing the match more than anything, even if I'm doing well. If you don't go in, take points in dangerous areas and get shit done, then you're playing BF wrong. I always found the best way to play BF is to sacrifice things or yourself now and then.

I don't care too much about my K/D anymore. But I do care about my positioning in the rankings come the end of the match. If I don't break top 3...I had a bad game.

Anyone gotten it to unlock early yet through a vpn? Tried vpn'ing to korea but its saying my connection is slow.

I VPN'ed and played singleplayer, you have to stay logged in the vpn to play online though.

edit:
To play MP:

Start VPN
Start origin
Join game
Disconnect VPN
Rejoin server, don't shut down origin

How can I change my in-game username and add a clan tag? Sorry I'm a bit of a Battlelog dumbass.

Go to your battle log page and click Edit Profile

Than go to the soldiers Tab

You can add your clan tag there

Silly question, when you activate are you seen as the region you activated in permanently?

I've been out of the loop for a while. I heard BF4 requires some hefty equipment to run high settings and I like to run high settings. I just don't upgrade like I used too.

Does anyone know if the following settings will run this game with good detail? My rig is 2011 era and ran BF3 at max settings.

i7 2600k
16gb ram
gtx 580 sli
1 monitor at 1920 x 1200 resolution
