Radeon R9 R290X aims at $549 pre-tax price

I will say this.

The price is $549 and when the card's fan is set to full range (anywehere from 0-100%) The 290x will match the performance of the TITAN but use a bit more power doing so.

Damn it feels good to be so right.

this makes no fucking sense. If the 290X is 649€ in Europe it will NEVER be $549 in the States. We get 1:1 conversion... or even a tad less. All in all the difference between dollars ane euros gets mitigated by our VAT... but VAT ain't a 50%, so those values are totally wrong.

And you were so wrong.

I really want to buy two of these and crossfire immediately, however the heat and power consumption have me nervous

any chance after market coolers will come out that actually work in crossfire? More specifically in trifire

That pretty much makes it a non-starter for me. His neighbors actually complained about the noise...

I'm already concerned about putting an aftermarket (non-blower) cooler on my GTX 780 due to all the heat it will dump into my case, but a 290x runs even HOTTER with a TDP 50w higher and uses a stock blower cooler that isn't able to keep quiet... all that, and it doesn't really seem all that much faster for it.

I hope NV drops the price on the 780 so I can buy one. AMD fail launch as always with no stock ;/

Done.

Amazon has the DC2 for $611. Tax kills it, but Newegg's Iron Egg Guarantee should fix that right up.

The 290 can't get here soon enough...

From the pattern of the 7970 vs. 7950, lower power, while still probably being able to close the gap on the higher-end card with some overclocking at a lower price?

Now that's smart gaming! :D
