So, in case you havent heard sega has already announced that another alien game is in the works. NOT BY GEAR BOX, thankfully.

some new info was released.

20th Century Fox has recently trademarked Alien: Isolation. The trademark covers products such as videogame software, music and other types of multimedia content. According to Kotaku:

“The next video game in the world of Aliens will star the daughter of superstar space officer Ellen Ripley, according to a Kotaku source. The game is called Alien: Isolation, and we hear it will be on both current- and next-gen consoles next year.”

“The protagonist of Alien: Isolation is Amanda Ripley, daughter of Ellen Ripley, (…) You, as Amanda, spend most if not all of the game on a single space station, according to our source. There’s only one alien for “most” of the game, our source said; you’ll mostly be shooting through “clones and soldiers.” Vents, lockers, and melee weapons are a big part of Isolation, our source said, and the game is heavily inspired by the first Alien movie.“

you will mostly being shooting through soldiers...
sounds like another fail aliens game.

Can't get any excitement for Aliens, all the games are fail except for the old school AvP.

only 1 alien for the entire game?...Ripley's daughter?...sounds like Alien meets Dead Space...the way they keep trying to shoehorn in the canon mythology into these games is doing the movies a disservice

Fuck Aliens... all they need to do is this... Make a Crysis-like open-world-like game where you are being hunted by Predators and you need to set up traps and hunt their asses down. Making a game based on Aliens is no more of an interesting idea than shooting through monsters from Hell in Doom. Or even all the games they made based off The Terminator. Some movies just don't translate well into games regardless of how good you think the movie would be as a game. To make even a Alien game or Terminator game would at the end of the day just be shooting shit. I mean, it's what they did in the movies. Making a open world Predator game in the jungle would be awesome. Something like Predator meets Far Cry 3. Then the sequel would be Crysis 2(setting) meets Predator just like in the Predator 2 movie. Mixed up survival-horror elements in a Crysis/FarCry 3 environment with a Predator hunting you would be awesome.

Sega should make a semi-realtime turn-based Aliens game similar to XCOM, but using their Valkyria Chronicles engine.

Survival horror based on the original movie could be good. But, we all know Alien and Aliens games are typically shitty.

...why the fuck would Ripley's daughter have anything to do with Xenomorphs?

Aliens games that were good (IMO):

First AvP game
AvP 2 (to some extent)
AvP 2010 (again, to some extent)

That's about it.

I want to see how that Crysis mod is doing.

A:CM has crushed all my hopes and dreams for a good modernized Alien game. I've lost all hope in Sega or anyone to make a good game from this franchise so this news just depresses me more. If Gearbox and Sega had been honest with the fans and told us the truth from the get go that the game simply isn't ready yet and need more time to make a proper game i believe we'd have been disappointed but more willing to wait for a game we all wanted to play...Thankfully I'm extremely skeptical of all games even the ones we think are usually going to be good. I want downloadable playable demos (like BF4 beta) or I'll wait until I read lots of reviews and see some gameplay and twitch footage of actual gameplay this saved me from pre-ordering this VILE product and many others like it DNF from Gearbox as well, what franchise do they plan to fuck up next........wait didn't they just buy the Homeworld franchise...........NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! (I'm weeping inside).

At least we have the movies.

Honestly, if they just fixed up AvP 2010 a bit it would be awesome. Graphically it was (and still is) great, and it played pretty well, just had some MP balance issues and didn't have all the awesome game modes that the first and second games did.

I'm sad that AvP 2010 wasn't more popular than it was. It was plagued with MP issues on launch and so a lot of people left the community before it got patched up.

I have no idea. Unless I'm remembering wrong, her daughter died while she was suspended in cryo after the events of the first film. Why, then, would the daughter have encountered a xeno, and how would that have transpired?

she had a secret love child with Hicks...or an human/android hybrid with Bishop

Yeah, Ripley's daughter died of old age while she was in cryosleep between Alien and Aliens (at least that's what Burke told her). But her name was "Amanda" in the film. Pretty freaky to think about, actually... Ripley cries as she touches the photo of an old woman, who was her daughter. Amanda Ripley was actually played by Sigorney Weaver's mother. Thank you, Wikipedia!

And they think anyone is going to trust another Aliens game after the disaster that was Colonial Marines?

I just had a crazy thought: They need to make an Alien game with Oculus Rift support on the PC. :D

Imagine the shit that will be shat when a half dozen Xenomorphs come scampering your way out of the darkness from all directions. Your head bobbing up and down, turning to each direction and firing frantically everywhere.

Ah, those would be good times indeed.

I didn't mind AvP 2010 either. It needed a bit of polish and tweaked gameplay, but it wasn't bad.

That would be pretty hard, considering they killed off all of them in the awful Alien 3. Really, they should just let the whole franchise rest in peace,it's been going downhill since Aliens.

fixed that for you.

Totally disagree. Did you ever play A:CM? :p

(But yeah, I did like AvP 2 quite a bit, but it wasn't without issues...plus they removed the co-op Assault mode from the first game, wtf?)

Yeah, I'm with you. I actually liked it quite a bit, but it did have its issues. Spamming the Xeno stealth kill in MP was a huge problem...I think they made it slightly harder to do in later patches, but last time I played MP it still seemed like a problem.

We just need a new Aliens/AvP game with Crysis-like graphics where they actually put a lot of effort into co-op MP against GOOD Xeno AI, as well as MP balance (traditionally a problem with AvP games). I guess that is too much to ask?

AvP 2010 was flat out fantastic...the movement, feel, atmosphere was perfect...even the different weapons and moveset of the marine, alien and predator were excellent...totally underrated game...not to mention the amazing DX11 graphics...best Alien game I've ever played...totally stayed true to the original designs and makeup

So your a little girl and you shoot through clones and marines? Sounds like the game is a giant escort mission. :( But hey I havent seen any trailers (like that means a damn now-a-days) and survival horror aliens game sounds pretty cool.

didn't they bring Hicks back from the dead in the crappy Aliens: Colonial Marines game?...as far as Alien 3, it was nowhere near as good as the first 2 movies but it wasn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be either...the Restored Workprint Version of Alien 3 is the one to watch

Or Alien meets Alien

Just some more info here, apparently creative assembly is going to be developing this game.

the thing is, yes people will....

nope, i decided not to buy a cm, wanted to hear what the fans had to say first.
'and i was not upset with my decision.

avp2 is on my top 5 list of favorite games.
i love the 4 race system. humans vs humans vs predators vs aliens.
and all its game modes, especially survivor and overrun
no it was not without its flaws, their were some glitches that never got fixed.
the pulse rifle tap fire glitch being one the worst.
plasma pistol also being extremely op.

as for avp2010, i never bought it.
i hated the demo, i was disgusted by it.

just run around and press e.

They announce right off the bat that you're going to be shooting at things that aren't ALIENS? This is the first time I can say I am not interested in an ALIENS game on PC. The generic shooting against stock human-shaped pop-up targets is what made me stop playing A:CM.

What I'd love to see, and sticking somewhat in movie canon, Ripley's granddaughter goes back to LV-426 where the original crashed alien ship is still there and infested. It didn't get blown up by the atmospheric processor that went nuclear. And, maybe there's a few descendant survivors from Hadley's Hope running around. You'd be investigating the original ship. Not sure of the back story for her granddaughter going back. The granddaughter was maybe intentionally or mistakenly hidden from Burke so Ripley never knew about her. Still don't have any good ideas about the granddaughter going back though.

I really did not like Alien Resurrection, but if they brought back that kinda of bad-ass ripley to battle hordes of aliens... that might be cool. Maybe throw in a couple mutant ripleys alien hybrids, but 95% of the baddies should be aliens... maybe venture to distant planets where there are alien bases, armies, battle ships, etc... ya know, explore the universe of the species itself a bit and not the boring "corporation"
