PRAD's Review Will be Free December 30th The Review Preview costs 2.50 Euros/3.42$ US.

PRAD measured a 1ms signal display which is phenomenal for a multi-input monitor! It also has judder free 1080p@24hz Blu-Ray playback capabilities over HDMI! The iiyama uses Plasma Deposition Coating which is less reflective vs. the glass the Apple Cinema Display and Samsung S27B970D use and also produces blacker blacks.

-Min brightness=160cdm/2

Glass Samsung S27B970D vs. Semi-Glossy NEC P242W: Both monitors were calibrated, have 900:1 contrast ratios and were set to 140cdm/2

Glass Samsung S27B970D vs. Glossy Crossover 2720MDP: Both monitors were calibrated and were set to 140cdm/2. The Crossover 2720MDP has a 850:1 contrast ratio.

Glossy displays produce deeper blacks but are more reflective vs. Plasma Deposition Coating. All of the monitors in my linked picture have 1000-1100:1 contrast ratios @120cdm/2 brightness and were calibrated.

I am reviewing the Crossover 2755AMG which is a cheaper re-brand, it has a 20ms delay, and lacks a height adjustable stand. It also needs 3m .5mm x 10mm threaded screws to VESA mount which I can only find online from US sellers. My review has links to Playerwares reviews of the 2755 & 2763AMG, both of which perform similarly to the iiyama. The 2763AMG Playerwares reviewed had better default gamma than the 2755, my 2755AMG's gamma is as good as the 2763AMG Playerwares reviewed. I lent my PS3 to a friend so I can't use blu-rays to test for judder.

North American residents can purchase Planars version, the Planar PXL2790MW but there are no reviews.

So how would it compare the Viewsonic 2770? I still have quite a bit of time to return if it's that much better.... for the PXL2790MW, I mean. I saw that Planar mentioned before but I have no idea how their quality control is (which is honestly the biggest issue. The picture quality on any of these is fine, the quality control is not).

The sale price looks to be the same, too.
 
What is the advantage of the XB27790Q over the benq you just reviewed ? Price (at least for the planar) is the same.

Oh I see the blacks are not very good on the XB27790Q (and I presume the planar) so the Benq is probably nicer but input lag is probably a bit higher.
 
That picture looks a lot like the new Displayport only Nixeus Vue... It would be nice to see a review of that too.

Clearer and more vibrant whites and light colors at the price of more obvious IPS glow and daytime blacks turning into dark grays. The front bezel is covered in glass so fingerprints are really obvious.

They have a 14 day no question return policy but can charge a 25% fee

The Planar might have lower lag, but the Crossover & Achieva versions both have 20ms delays.

I've contacted Planar about reviewing one.

No, min brightness is 160cdm/2 with the default contrast setting (PRAD did not try messing with the CR) which might be a deal breaker for some, including me since I use 120-140cdm/2. My Crossover 2755AMG can dim below 100cdm/2.

Yeah it's deal breaker for me - mine goes down to 100 cd/m2 and i work in 0-20% brightness range.
 
Any info on the planar version yet? Seemed like an attractive monitor

Guess Europeans are pretty much screwed if they can not find screws online for something as commonplace as VESA mounts.

Weird. The only review that they've allowed thus far is some random kid with a blog and his review was a few paragraphs of terrible, terrible writing.
 
The Planar's minimum brightness is really high (176cdm/2) just like the iiyama while the Crossover 2755AMG dims down to 92cdm/2. The PXL2790MWs lack of a height adjustable stand is pretty lame considering the price.

They seem to have the capacity to make really great business monitors, and their aesthetic is always top-notch, but for whatever reason they always seem to fall short with a few key details.
