I have been looking forward to this for a long time, and honestly the only game i've been really WAITING for. I think it'll be great to have a South Park RPG, using the same animation technique, and with all the original cast voices. Can't wait. With Trey and Matt personally overseeing the game, my hopes are high for this one. I really hope it doesn't disappoint. This is the only thing i'm asking for for Christmas, so hopefully it doesn't end up being a lump of coal.

I still don't understand what it is...2D side-scroller? 2D characters in a 3D world?
 
It's being made by Obsidian Entertainment. It's likely to be a 2D/2.5D free-roaming RPG.

Trey Parker said that the idea for the game was largely borne after he and Smith had played Skyrim, and they wanted to create something similar.
 
Based on that trailer I think I need to play Skyrim first. Otherwise I'll miss too many jokes. It's next up in my RPG queue.
 
The gameplay trailers are like watching a trailer for the tv series.

Is there any footage of someone actually playing the game?

Yeah, I've totally seen South Park. All of it...many times.

I guess I'm just wondering how you have a 2D open-world RPG.

It's so much like the show, I can't even tell what is cutscene and what is gameplay. Their E3 discussion went over it some.

I don't see how 2D or 2.5D would limit an open world. I'd imagine at least some of the game will be top down or isometric, like Ultima and Baldur's Gate (respectively). Some will clearly be from a Double Dragon perspective as well.
 
I'm psyched. Seems like their team was very closely involved, too.
 
i wonder if i need a controller to play this on PC or if it would work good with keyboard/mouse.. shrug, prob need a controller.

The show has actually gotten better over the years. The first few seasons were nothing but shock value jokes involving kids swearing, fart jokes, anal probes, etc.
While there are still some total dud shows, their satires on popular culture are more witty than you might expect if you haven't watched lately.

I completely disagree. They do make more social commentary now, but it's still primarily based on "shock" value and swearing, even moreso in later seasons.

They also seem a lot angrier the last 3-4 seasons. I can smell the bitter coming off Matt and Trey. I don't dig it.

The gameplay will look exactly like ths trailer. The graphics will look identical to the show... which is not hard because they wanted it to look like the original "cut-out" style of animation.

Watching that video clip, first thing I hear from the audience, "Looks exactly like the show." lol. So awesome. Mostly can't wait... mostly.
 
I was really excited for this. The leaked gameplay video made me cancel my preorder. It doesn't look fun at all.
 
IIRC it's going to be a $25-30 title.

Looks actually good to me. The South Park charm wore off years ago for me, but from what I've seen, this could be really good.

I still get laughs. Tonight they did Minecraft and the cable companies. It's almost a guarantee a pop culture reference will pop up. The fact they sometimes finish the show minutes before it airs is impressive, it's how they can stay so on top of current events.

I'd recommend watching the documentary on the show.

As for the game. We'll see - I'm not a fan of turned based combat. But I'm sure the journey itself will be hilarious. I enjoyed the n64 title years back.

It looked like what I expected...from all the videos shown?

We have known for a long time it was turn-baseds combat, you could tell that from earlier trailers when they showed combat....

Was it because of the linear-like nature of the gameplay demo?

To me it:

1. Looks just like the show.
2. Sounds like the show
3. Is from a proven rpg developer Obsidian.
4. Most importantly, has Matt/Trey behind it.

For me, it's because it is South Park and because it isn't a heavy duty RPG. I mean, it looks both fun and funny, but when I can preorder games like The Witcher 3 for $44.95...

I'll still end up buying it, but not for $60. Especially since I rarely ever pay $60 for any game. I love Obsidian games, but even New Vegas wasn't $60.

I would buy this new most I would pay would be 30.00 though 60.00 is too much imo

I feel the same way. I personally liked the more innocent style in earlier seasons. Also, I don't pay attention to pop culture so I feel like I miss at least 50% of the jokes. The ones with celebrities I almost never "get".

That being said, some of favourite episodes were "Make Love Not Warcraft", "Let's Fighting Love" and that LOTR one... so I could see myself liking the game if it's similar to those XD

It'll come out... I am perfectly okay with the delay. This game has been the one game i've had high expectations for since it launched. If they have to delay it so they make the game/story/audio great for when it launches i'm okay with that. I've always thought it'd be awesome to have a game set in the South Park universe with all the original voices and tons of dialogue with a funny ass story. Can't wait 'till March.

I don't get my hope up for many games especially after all the botched launches over the past year, but this one I am really hoping will be great.
 
Its primary a turn base rpg, witch is ok because it will last longer than a crappy platformer. I mean if they can sell Nintendo ds games at 44.99$ i don't see why it must be a 10$ game

Delays are a good thing the majority of the time. More time to get it right. I would rather they delay it again and again then do a half ass job.
