Can someone tell me why iOS 7 is now as laggy as Android? The new animations are sloppy as hell and the silkiness of the OS is completely gone.

I also like how it takes eight years to change the wallpaper. No, seriously. Scroll up and down the wallpapers available---WTF is that disgusting stutter and lag? Now click on a wallpaper. Wat? It takes like 5 seconds to show up. Now try to set the wallpaper to either your lock screen or home screen. Oh, 10 seconds before anything happens.

I am laughing my ass off and am afraid to find what else is wrong since I just finished the install.

I thought i'd open up a thread for general iOS 7 discussion/questions/troubleshooting since there didn't seem to be one (except for the developers). I just got done downloading it onto my iPAD 2 which is the only Apple product I own and so far I like iOS 7. It was frustrating to get it installed over the air because it kept giving me a error message saying it wasn't available.

But, one thing I don't know what to do about is the app tray on the bottom is one big gray rectangle. Doesn't have the transparent look that i've seen in videos and screenshots. Anyone else see this, and/or is there something I can do to change it? Or is this some sort of iPad 2 restriction for iOS 7?

Keep laughing your ass off, because I'm not seeing any of your issues at all. It's slick as ever, and everything is buttery smooth, from app to app, from swipe to swipe.

The only issue I seem to have is that I can't get the weather to work in the notification center, even if location services is on, and all the "Today" shit is on in Notification Center settings. Other than that, a great new OS.

Not sure what you're talking about my Android is kicking my iPhones ass in terms of snappyness, and being "smooth".

I think the color/style of the tray is based on your background of choice. I'm using one of the darker blue dynamic backgrounds, and it seems to fit well. It is a bit transparent.

Does your weather work in the notification center? I just can't seem to get mine to work, even after restarts.

Edit: Decided to work now for whatever reason. All is well.

So far, it's a mess.

My iPad can't "Activate", my iTunes keeps bitching that there are components missing, and it says it can't access the iTunes store.

I've had enough for now. I'm going grocery shopping...

Ive successfully crashed my phone from within itunes radio by editing my channels several times.

I hate the completely saturated color for everything ala wndows xp and fisher price! Apple give us a saturation slider!

Clearing out old apps is slower to do, but it is an improvement. its more usable, but painfully bright to look at. Also, siri is still dumb and cant changes her gender. The under the hood improvements are fine, but i absolutely fucking hate the color aesthetics.

The wallpaper screen does seem to have a lower screen update rate than the rest of the ios. Also, what phone are you on op?

Ive heard of sluggishness on the 4

Which device? iOS 7 is fairly slow on the iPhone 4, but it's kind of a wonder it will run it at all, considering what the A4 is packing.

What iOS device are you using? Are you using a dynamic wallpaper? I haven't experienced any lag problems on my iPad 3, but I haven't even tried to update my iPhone 4 yet.

Merged all threads discussing iOS 7 into one.

Can't activate my iPhone 5. Been this way for hours.

I've got my trusty 4 out and ready to go if I ned it.

Haven't even tried updating my iPad 3 yet.

I'm on iPad 3. I did a restart and things seem to be running a little better.

One quick tweak I just did was make all the fonts bold. This should have definitely been the default setting. I felt like something was missing from iOS 6, and this appears to be it.

The things that still bother me are the laggy animations when you open an app. Also, the pinch to home animation is absolutely hideous now. It just doesn't look right, with the two stationary icons and the ugly, blown-up icons you see if you run the animation slowly.

My only gripe is that the icons look like a high schooler designed them.

Plus that ugly ass dock...

Otherwise it is fine.

i like it so far, it obviously takes awhile to give a full assessment.

cant wait to see some custom dynamic wallpapers...come on tyrael wallpaper COME ON

I updated my iPad 3 and iPhone 4S and both installed fine and work good.
Took about 45 minutes to an hour or so to download simultaneously with wifi and install.
iPad 3 was about was about 15 minutes faster.

Ok, finally activated. Sheesh !!!

Still don't know what iTunes is all up in my face about. It would be nice if it would tell you WHAT component is missing...

I'm still getting used to scrolling of my web pages, I scroll from the bottom of the page and I keep bringing up the quick settings menu.

I like the pages in folders now ... it was too easy to fill up a folder on my 4s ... even if it only gives you 18 apps per folder that is better than 12 ... listening to iTunes radio ... like it so far but I need to see how many stations they have :)

Definitely more than 18 apps per folder I have up to 4 pages in one folder so far ... not sure what the limit is ... I LIKE IT :D

Finally got it activated and restored. Works well. Very smooth.

Quick tip, turn match off on your phone to sync all your music easily, then turn it back on.

The only thing I don't like is it zoomed in on my BMW emblem that I had as my background so that it was too big to fit on the screen and I can't zoom it out. Stupid.

Beyond that I like it.

I think you can return your wallpaper to normal if you turn off the parallax effect in the accessibility portion of the settings panel.

Welp...

I mean, granted, I knew it wasn't going to be game changing, but I wish it had done more than it has. The only improvements I see are swiping to close apps and a single place to change things like WiFi, BlueTooth, flashlight...all things that I had on my Android for quite a while now.

All in all, and underwhelming update that looks like it took as many visual cues from Office 2013 as it did from Android.

Is there a way to view your mail boxes seperately? All I have is all mail not individual mail boxes.

The top level of Mail has let you drill down into individual account inboxes since its initial release. If you're only seeing all mail, you're either not navigating high enough or something is wrong with your account configuration.

And background app refresh. And trust relationships when connected via USB to a computer. And iCloud Keychain (granted, it's not in 7.0, but it's coming). And an actually useful AirDrop. And 64-bit support. And Facetime Audio (aka "the iPod Touch can now be used as a true wifi-based cell phone"). And Activation Lock. And per-website filtering. And a redesigned Safari.

No really big new features, nah.

After a PITA ota install process, my iPhone 5 is up and running. I'm not terribly impressed, however. I mean, it's pretty, and that's nice. But there's really not that big of a difference. The Calendar app is worse. You still have to throw all the stock apps you don't use into a folder to hide on the back homescreen.

Also not a fan of how the weather is portrayed in the notification center: It's a two line sentence instead of the old temp and image.

I do like the control center tray, though I would get rid of the music controls if I could (I don't use my phone for music pretty much ever). Having an integrated flashlight app is actually pretty fantastic, since I use it a lot. Also, the delay in email reception from my work exchange server seems to be gone.

And of course, my battery life still sucks the balls.
The Verge review, I think, was pretty spot on. This is a coat of paint, not a new OS.

They should have just named it iOS 6.5 and not shovel a load of BS at me to convince me it's all new and better.

I just looked again and it's normal. Was that a silent update by apple?

I am 100% positive that I only had all mail and under that it said accounts with nothing listed.

No, it wasn't a silent update. It's been that way for years, and no one who had the GM or beta versions reported anything like what you had (that I've been able to find on Google, anyway).

Pretty sure you just had a one-off instance of something weird.

Experiencing what I have to assume is a visual anomaly on application closing via the five-finger gesture on my iPad 3. It appears it's skipping a large number of frames near the end of the close animation and the dock color pops from a gray color to its correct color for the current wallpaper. Closing apps with the home button doesn't yield this effect.

Also, Safari doesn't load pages. Which is really very minor in comparison to the above issue.

Pretty clearly this install was somehow borked.

It appears to be two different animations. When you close an App via the Home button, it will minimize to the location of the App icon. When using the five-finger gesture, the App closes in the middle of the grid and fades away. It's noticeable when you slowly close your fingers.

I am 100% positive my mailbox only listed:

All mailboxes
VIP

Accounts (with nothing under it)

All of my mail accounts were working and mail was showing up in all mailboxes from all accounts.I updated at 2pm est and it just started working at 11pm est

Happy w/ iOS 7 so far however I'm definitely noticing the occassional bug. 7.0.1 (or 7.1) should hopefully resolve this all. I've dumped Pandora in favor of iTunes Radio. Nice to be able to take advantage of iTunes 27,000,000 songs vs. Pandora's paltry 1,000,000.

This is clearly the ugliest thing in iOS 7. The way the icons come together look absolutely retarded (two icons appear to remain stationary while the others fly in), and you can see how pixelated and ugly they are if you do the gesture slowly.

When I first saw iOS7 I thought it looked kinda meh, but I am enjoying it now. Some of my apps seem really boring now though since the home screen and integrated apps are really bright and flashy. Also seems like a ton was influenced by the jailbreaking community, but it actually works nicely.

It's okay for me. I do like some of the new features.. Control center is cool, I like the new layout of the bookmarks in safari. Some of the new animations I really could care less for .. and on my iphone 5 I do notice a bit of a chop here and there during animation transitions but it doesn't bother me, i wish they could offer a dark theme, it's a little too white for my tastes.

Overall, I would probably prefer iOS 6, but I don't hate it enough that I want to switch back. I'll stick with it... It's cool for me.

Hah, same here. I definitely feel some lag, although not android like lag. Not sure if I can rollback to 6 since i did my update through my phone. Argh even as i type this, i feel lag
